  1. hello mate! welcome to the showface-icon-small-happy.gif

if i tell you what i got for £3995 in august 2004 it may give you an idea,

you can just make out my car on the left, it's a wagon 2000 turbo my96 (pre-face lift) it had 112000 on the clock, a few minor blemishes on the paint work, all standard, a few dents in the floor panface-icon-small-shocked.gif but they soon knocked out!. sounds terrible doesn't it? but it's a sound car , all i've had to do is put a clutch in (clutch is a weak point on scoobs, my fly wheel side was fine, it was the back plate that had worn the clutch) I went through the car looking at every detail and couldn't really find anything to worry about, I changed the shocks and springs for STi ones -30mm (second hand - £140), changed alloys for 17"s (sec..hand £200 + 2 tyres £120) and put cat back s/s exhaust. new magnex centre section £60 and sec...hand P1 box £100) total £620

i got k&n 57i £80 but took it off and also my dump valve £100

and to get it through MOT last week after doing 12000 miles 2 more tyres (£136)

if you can get a standard car then you know what you got but they are hard to find, but there are some good mildley modded ones genuine aswell

you can always go for non-turbo and get your scoops exhaust ect... and alot cheaper insuranceface-icon-small-wink.gif

it doesn't have to be a turbo--- it's a scoobie and thats it, i'm sure the others will add to thatface-icon-small-happy.gif

try auto trader on-line thats where i got mine.

    good luck mate

  2. Interesting comments guys!.... i must say it's got to be only a few that have faults, i wish i had my camera and took some pics,, it shocked me, one of the splits you could push a pencil in it long ways (short pencil)! whats that? about 1/4 inch wide? and the layers coming off you could just peel it off in inch long strips

i said may be it was the rough road where i live, they said that would'nt do that damage, it's only on dirt aswell for about 30 feet.

some of you have them and maybe yours are ok, i guess i got a bum deal...twice!

i spoke to a guy at work (one of our customers) and he has them on st200, they are in one piece but he has trouble with wheel spin and hes changing them as soon as he can, so thats a common one then!face-icon-small-frown.gif

i have now got some other brand a bit dearer but not well known "fortuna" they have a thicker wall, we'll how they go face-icon-small-smile.gif

  3. i put me scoob in for MOT, and as always i expect the worse, even though i could'nt put my finger on much wrong. when i bought these wheels i put 2x nangkang tyres on the front,, they could of killed meface-icon-small-shocked.gif as i was informed they have a fault.. the rubbers part away so your left with layers of rubber flying off.

this was only on the inside. it starts off as a split ( which there were a 12 inch and a 8 inch split along the inside wall and a chunk out which down to the threads.

just the thought of how fast i have driven, on certain roads, with me other half in the car who is my future face-icon-small-blush.gif and the worse thing still......i had these on my BMW and the same thing happened.....i didn't think did Iface-icon-small-mad.gif

i feel mad that i got the same tyres on a performance car and more likely to fail me.

someone please give me a boll***ing!!

and for me to say avoid these tyres.. it's not likely your as tight as me and you don't have them, but if you do..check the inside wall as well as the outside!

  4. not worth it, i wash it, i go to work, drive through puddles, gets dirty, come home car gets covered in sand blown over from beach, pigeons constantly cr*p on it. it rains, washes it off, drive to work...............................................face-icon-small-confused.gif

got to wash it soon though.............got a bit of painting to doface-icon-small-wink.gif

but i do polish it from time to time, so it knows i still love itface-icon-small-blush.gif

  5. Cliff, no member of sidc knows me, maybe not even seen me. i try and put a few funny comments in some threads because that's my nature, i like to make people happy i suppose.

i can't imagine how you must feel. it's frightening these things happen, it should'nt not this day and age.

all i can say is good luck to you both. you will win

  6. << Get that motor in a Mk2 escort, lots of sideways fun then. >>

I had a mk 2 a few year back, bored out to 1750,high lift cams, balanced crank, light fly, winged sump, rally zorst, recaro's, k&n, ally 4 spokes, lowered 3 inches, cost me about £2000......

  7. there will be a hole in the under side of the new adaptor with your induction kit..face-icon-small-smile.gif

i had to trim a little off the outside to re-fit in to hole,, and that won't affect it fitting back if you change it againface-icon-small-confused.gif

a little tip: trace a little pipe to the under side of the standard box and it fits on to a little nozzle, loosen intake from the maf first without pulling up to much, get your hand in there and pull that pipe off, before the nozzle snaps off!face-icon-small-blush.gif you can't quite see it when your pulling it all off and then .....snap

    thats what i found anyway!face-icon-small-frown.gif
