  1. Great game! Fantastic result! I just watched it on the box (should have been there). Digi TV though so switched over from the standard commentary (Jonathon Davies is so annoying) to the Radio Scotland commentary. Much better! Cheers, Ali
  2. << IThe article didn't state so but I hope he had a history of it as this seems well harsh to me. Points and a fine, yes, but a six month ban for being 14 mph over the limit? Surely that's harsh. K. >> I would assume the ban is for 'totting up' (12 points) and 6 months is then the minimum ban. Would have been a fixed penalty and wouldn't have gone to court otherwise (unless he pled not guilty...). Ali
  3. I'm going, but I think it's now full with a few reserves. Ali
  4. I've seen them there a couple of times (both directions). They seem to be targeting the urban dual carrigeways lately (also seen them on North Esplanade West and Ellon Rd.). I agree that 30 limits should normally be adhered to but targeting these particular roads and doing folk for 32mph is a joke. Another case of police shooting themselves in the foot as regards public relations.
  5. << reference the speed limits on the beach- Dont want to sound like a copper, but If you increase the limit to 40, then everyone will do 50. I saw a kid get knocked over at the beach when there were cars everywhere for a football match. He went flying through the air and landed on the tarmac. Luckily he got up and ran to the verge, apparantly relatively unhurt. If the car had been doing 50, we all know what would have happened. A limit of 30 beside the leisure centre would mean everyone doing 40 and that is a recipe for disaster. I agree that you cant and dont drive at 15, but I think most would agree that you tend to keep it at 30 max past there, just in case the powers that be are watching >> I think the limits need to be realistic (the 15 mph is not realistic and the police have said it is unenforcable...). Almost everyone ignores the limits as they are. The problem with the beach is that at quiet times a 30 limit then NSL would be appropriate but when the football is on or a sunny Sunday 15 then 30 mph limits are about right. What about the plans to close the boulevard at night due to 'boy racers'? Am I the only one to realise they will move elsewhere (Union St., Justice Mill lane would be my bet)... Ali
  6. All this flippancy... I have a pair of Sparco Nomex gloves I used for competition, trackdays and roof off on cold days in the Elise. They're relegated to autotesting now in the 'dirty car'. For normal road use and trackdays I use these Sparco Kart gloves. Demon Tweeks
  7. << Aye m8, a just started looking about after u posted up the RC drift cars, the 1000bhp charger sounds mad but i liked this one Even more crazy >> Now that's a hillclimb! Makes Doune look like a Sunday drive for wimps...
  8. On the noticeboard at my work (Vetco): 2004 WRX, LADY OWNER, JUST SERVICED, NEW TYRES, BRAKES&PADS, 23K MILES, FSH, TEL: 07739 460143 I guess it's Aberdeen area, I don't know the car or owner. Cheers, Ali
  9. Cal, I've been to Oulton and Cadwell which have the reputation as being technical, drivers circuits. They're also some of the closest so I don't think you can go wrong with either as a first venture further afield. Cadwell just edges it as my fave. I was at the 'Ring last year but it snowed so only done the indoor karting at the GP circuit and drifting in the car park. Will be back next year...
  10. I'm booked. <------- New toy should be just about run-in.
  11. I know a chap with a 360 Spider... http://www.team-scottish-elises.co.uk/medi...ery/wallace.jpg 360 on the right, lucky blighter also has the superfast 'busa engined Westfield and Disco towcar... I'll see him in the morning at Fintray Hillclimb if you want to send me the details. Cheers, Ali
  12. Makes sense John. Hence, 65 secs is a much better time with the extra distance. I was getting worried, my target for the July 17th event is 56.45! Ali
  13. << Alford is a small oval with a crossover in the centre. Sprint layout is oval first figure of 8 then oval Iain >> Not strictly, I understand you only crossover when going away from the museum so (bear with me here): Start (museum end, grandstand side) 1 full lap anticlockwise Turn left thru Crossover Clockwise round the bottom corner, up the grandstand straight & round the museum corner Turn right thru Crossover Anticlockwise round bottom corner and finish (just after corner). Were you folks hand timing? maybe you continued on to the start line again? Cheers, Ali
  14. << Sorry I couldn't be there but it clashed with the sprint at Boyndie. Sounds like John organised another great day, I certainly enjoyed last years event and if there is another later in the year I will try to be there. CT >> Likewise, I'd have been there on any other day. Was it the proper Sprint track distance and layout? I've never been round Alford but 65 secs for the fastest time seems a little odd... http://www.gac.org.uk/documents/alfordresults2004.pdf ...hopefully you were doing an extra corner or 2. Cheers, Ali
  15. There's also Boyndie (near Banff) and Golspie (just north of Dornoch) which are mainly kart tracks but used on the Scottish Sprint Championship. Not really for trackdays. Oulton Park is superb (going back on 26th Feb) and even better IMHO is Cadwell Park. Both technical though and not much runoff if that worries you. Cheers, Ali
  16. Jools, I'd be up for karting. Also up for a run anytime - so long as the snow is not too deep.
  17. Well it was a lovely day at Knockhill. Unfortunately I didn't see a single Scooby.
  18. I'm off to the 'ring next week. Thursday and Friday full days, closed trackday format with open lapping. Cheers, Ali
