  1. would be good to see you guys if you are going, we'll be at the Vision stand.

There will be a car parade to Remember Richard Burns during the day...

The Richard Burns Foundation will have a major presence at Rallyday 2010 with Stig Blomqvist, the 1984 world rally champion,

one of several star drivers set to get behind the wheel of a car belonging to the Richard Burns Collection.

Burns, who lost his brave battle with cancer in November 2005, four years after becoming England's only world champion rally driver,

was a regular at the Castle Combe event and made his last public appearance at the Wiltshire venue in August 2005.

He will be remembered by a parade of his carefully maintained rally cars,

which include the Subaru Impreza WRC he used to win the world title in 2001,

and the Peugeot 205 GTI he drove during the formative years of his career.

Legend Blomqvist is one of six drivers taking part in the parade, which will also feature the Group A and Group N Subaru Legacys Burns campaigned in the National and British rally championships,

the Peugeot 309 GTI he upgraded to following his stint in the 205,

and the Peugeot 206 WRC he drove during his aborted 2003 world championship campaign, which was curtailed when he became ill.

The other drivers assisting Blomqvist have yet to be finalised although Intercontinental Rally Challenge event winner Guy Wilks is set to pedal one of the machines.

The six cars will be on static display at the Richard Burns Foundation area in the Castle Combe paddock before and after the parade, where volunteers from the charity, which helps young people affected by brain cancer and other neurological disorders, by giving them the means to face the future with confidence, will be accepting donations.

RBF merchandise will also be on sale and visitors to Rallyday purchasing a programme will be receive a £5 clothing discount on presentation of a voucher.

As part of the fundraising effort, the Richard Burns Foundation has teamed-up with Skoda UK Motorsport to auction off a passenger ride alongside Intercontinental Rally Challenge event winner Guy Wilks in a Skoda Fabia Super 2000.

"Rallyday always had a special place in Richard's heart and we're delighted to be working with the Rallyday organisers to put on display of the six cars that meant so much to Richard," said Zoe Scott, Richard's former partner and now a key member of the RBF organising team.

"As well as bringing back some wonderful memories we are hoping to arrange more vital funds for the Richard Burns Foundation to help those suffering from brain cancer and other neurological disorders."

  2. does anyone know how to get audio books from iTunes (v10) to my iPhone (3GS running the latest updated software)?

I bought the books from iTunes so dont get why its so hard to transfer from the PC onto my phone.

Lost the rag with it when it wouldn't sync after 40 mins of messing about and I needed them on the phone for a trip oveseas the next day.

I can see the books, .m4b format, in the "Books" category in my iTunes library, but can't seem to drag, select or grab it to get it to sync onto my phone.

    thanks,

    imy

  3. Update 3 Aug 10

Jim McRae drives at the Barbados Rally, and clinches 2nd place behind the wheel of a 3-litre Tuthill Porsche 911

Full write up and photos on the McRae website

This bit made me laugh

I was flat-out in fifth on the fast bit of Pickerings and spotted my wife Margaret spectating, something she almost never does anymore," explained Jim.

"Her mouth was wide open and it was clear she was pretty awestruck, so I kept my foot in it and nearly missed the braking point!", grinned Jim during the Carnival prizegiving at Surfside beach bar, Holetown the following Sunday.

They weren't short on volunteers when they were planning on attending the Barbados rally, it would have been cool to go to Barbados!

the next event for the Vision retail unit is the Czech Republic, and guess who's been asked to go over?! ;);)

  4. Write up of Goodwood and the winner of the first Colin McRae IRC Flat Out Trophy now on the McRae website

on the website here - CLICKY

We had Fran the artist with us at Goodwood, and it appears that he'll be developing a print of the R4 :tumbleweed:

We were also accompanied on the stand by Fran Richley of Action-Art, who, under the easy up canopy behind the R4 set up a display of his motorsport prints.

During the weekend a picture of the R4 was commissioned and prints will be available in due course

  5. have a look at ArmaPlate page

The Vision van had these plates put on their locks after an attempted break in, it might be the thing for you.

works by completely encasing the vulnerable area around the doorlock and/or handle.

On the outside is a tough, but aesthetically appealing stainless steel plate providing an incredibly tough barrier.

This is further reinforced by another steel plate on the inside of the door.

With the actual doorskin, this forms a triple-barrier of steel between the thief and the contents of your van.
