  1. Saw the news on FB and it made me stop and remember him.

Simon was a genuine guy and had the enthusiasm and buzz to get involved, do new things and take part in the club when we were doing runs and events.

He will be remembered for his infectious bellowing laugh and being one of members that set the bar back in the days.

  2. ... although my interview for BBC news was a forgettable moment lol.

aw Gus, you did well considering I put you on the spot ;):icon_pai:

The best moments for me would be all the runs and events that I was involved in.

Am surprised how many have said the Gathering is their best part

worse for me is putting the car up for sale :crying:

if anyone fancies a geniuine v2 STi RA for £3k then fire me a goat.

  3. :hello:

just clicked in to see whats going on

good to see the Fling has become a regular event.

and wow are you guys still talking about that incident?

it was that Strike's fault you know

Keep it shiny side up!, Don't get lost, dont drive beyond what you feel is safe for you, and most importantly DON'T start following honda NSX's thinking they are Big Yellow Impreza's!!!:Scottish-flag:

  4. I occasionally come on here to read up on what's happening and get the latest on who's bought/sold/broken/modded/washed their cars.

I've stepped back from the scene as I've moved on, things change and passions peeter out.

I've had my spell of being in the thick of things, and I've lost the urge to post tbh.

I've still got the RA and love driving the car, and will keep checking into here to see whats happening.

  5. if someone can get them to me from Dumfries by the weekend, I'll take it from Gla north, I'm heading up that way anyway :driving:

I can meet at Stirling on Sunday afternoon or somewhere in Glasgow on Monday morning

I take it these parts aren't huge and can fit in the boot/back seat of the RA...

  6. I think that we should donate to Rachel House or Robin House.

Yorkhill do a fantastic job but I feel they get the lion's share of fundrasing and attention, particularly from large groups (cabbies, bikers etc).

They also have an established Fundraising department and have people employed full time to drum up interest/organise events.

There are so many other, worthwhile children's charities out there and I think we should explore other organisations.

I know that there is a historic link between us and Yorkhill, but I'd be more inclined to get involved if we do something new this year

If its Yorkhill, then I probably won't take part,

I've signed up to do a Fire Walk for Yorkhill next month and am all 'charity fundraising out' for them

  7. The McRae stages this year was a bit of a mixed bag...

Friday was brilliant as the sun was shining, Aberfeldy was glorious and we got to see and hear Stig Blomqvist, Phil Mills, Jimmy McRae and David Bogie have some banter with John from Coltness Car club at the drivers forum that night.

There was also an auction and Grant, Dave and John had their eyes on some tasty prizes.

Saturday was a wash out :(

It was wet, wet, and um wet.

The service area quickly turned into a boggy muddy marsh and the busiest people were the tractor drivers!

They were towing vehicles in and out of the field, including moving the big heay tyre servicing trucks/wagons !

Spectator footfall was light, I think most folk abandoned the idea of coming to the service area.

We heard that the stages were very slippy, with a lot of cars spinning or going off.

The next (and last event for us this year) is the IRC Rally of Scotland this weekend.

The R4 and the retail unit will be at the start line at Stirling Castle on Friday (7 October).

Alistair McRae will be there, driving the Proton.

There is also talk about Toshi Ari attending.

Hopefully we get a good turnout and the forest stages on Saturday are kinder to competitors than the McRae last weekend.

  8. aye Grant's fine, keeping a low profile and staying out of trouble lol

Got some details for this weekend's McRae Stages

    Friday 30 Sept - Aberfeldy

The retail unit will be in the service park from 1500 to 2000.

Drivers forum with Stig Blomqvist, Jiimy McRae , Phill Mills and David Bogie starts at 2030 in Moness House Hotel & Country Club, Crieff Road, Aberfeldy

Its FREE Entry, donations on the door.

You need to email tickets@colinmcraevision.com to get a ticket - 2 per enquiry - and there are very few tickets left.

    Saturday 1 Oct

The retail unit will be in the service park. Come over to have a look at the new stock.

I hope the tent selling Home Baking is back, they did some fab pancakes last year :)

Looking at the rally info here on the CCC website, things seem to be less spread out.

The link also has Google maps for the stages and spectator parking.

The start and finish will be at Aberfeldy, which saves a trek into Perth city centre and getting stuck in traffic.

The Stages are always worth a trip, but doubly so this year as the real Stig will be driving a MkII.

  9. Blast, not gonna make the stages this year, i'll be in Mallorca. :guinness:

    aw, thats a shame Gordon

The winner of the competition gets exclusive access to the Shakedown session, which is closed to the public.

Put in a text entry anyway, it costs £3 a text and at least £2.81 goes towards the Vision.

To those that are reading/following this thread, it would be good if you could take part and help boost the numbers,

there's been very little interest in the competition

    Text your answer (a=1; b=2; c=3) to "70007"

The question is "How many of the McRae Family have won the British Rally Championship?"

Date and time for the rally ride is 16:30 hrs. Thursday 6th October and the winner is required to be at Perth Aerodrome by 15:30.

  10. Rally Day 2011, Castle Coombe

The Vision took the Sierra Cosworth and the retail unit to Rally Day.

We had a brilliant pitch and were joined by the Pirelli simulator and Action Art.

It was the Cossie's 25th birthday, Jimmy and Russell Brookes were among the drivers that were on track.

We had some special visitors to the stand, Matthew Wilson, Phil Collins and Russell Brookes :icon_flower:

They kindly signed some stuff for us and added to the list of autographs that we collected at Goodwood.

Jimmy was interviewed alongside Matthew Wilson

The weather was pants, it was bucketing down one minute and the sun splitting the sky the next.

Also got a chance to speak to Kris Meeke, he was there driving the Mini WRC but broke the car, twice, by early afternoon and was loitering around the Prodrive service truck when we were having a wander.

    rallyDay012.jpg

Didn't take a lot of pictures, was tied to the stand for most of the day.

  11. ...

I did get as far as saying Hello to Imy but I can only assume she didn't hear me/register I was talking to her... we'll get there eventually eh! ;)

Stu, I didn't know you were up at the Vision stand, things were pretty hectic

sorry if it seemed like I was blanking you,

I would have said hi if I heard you/knew it was you, we keep missing each other at shows :(

  12. yeah I've been spotted :icon_flower:

I've been working out that for a couple of weeks.

Exhaust is a C&C 3" straight through centre section/back box.

It sounds louder in cabin ever since my rear o/s mud flap fell off, odd I know!
