About Bandit127

  1. It's been a crack and a half owning the Scooby, but the price is finally too much. 30,000(+) miles a year is killing the car and my pocket - I PXd it today. So, thanks everyone for the following: A sense of comradeship. A sense of humour. And some seriously useful advice. Take care with yourselves and your cars - see you in a couple of years time I suspect Jim P.S. The Scooby had the last laugh - the part exchanging garage found that it has been jigged, both wings have been off and the front right half repainted. Took a £2,000 bite out of my ass on the way out. (Didn't know that, it was HPI clear when I bought it. Still is).
  2. Get on down the A303/A38 when all you have to cope with is grandad doing 70.0 mph being overtaken by granny doing 70.1 mph. Both in frikkin 205s. A mile later, you can just hear their cusses over the beat of the exhaust as full turbo sees you clear them at 90. Class. Jim
  3. Presume you were "reported for the offence of excess speed" and read your rights. If not, see a Solicitor if you get a summons. If so, that was your Notice of Intended Prosecution. They now have up to 6 months to serve a summons (nice, hanging over your head for that long...) They usually turn up before then (but mine took 5 months). Next thing is you fill out the paperwork for the summons, basically pleading Guilty or Not Guilty. You will not have the option to plead guilty by post because they have to consider a ban, which you need to be in court for. The following table shows what the basic guidelines are. Clicky Good luck but I don't think you need to buy a pushbike yet - you should get 6 points unless it was at night, p*ssing down and you were driving selfishly/provocatively. ATB, Jim P.S. I am not a copper but a reformed driving offender with over 30 summonses to my name. Sad but true, I will not drive without insurance, MOT and tax now. Made a career of it 20 years ago...
  4. WRX35 - what was the speed limit where you got stopped? We need to know. Cheers, Jim
  5. 4 years ago 96mph in a 60 limit got me 6 points and a £175 fine. All of the others in court the same day were 30-40 above the limit and none got banned. Like the others said, depends what the limit was at the time. 70 limit and you may get the option for a fixed penalty which is 3 points and £60. 30 limit and you will need to put some taxi money aside.. Good luck, Jim
  6. Web link didn't throw anything up from MaCafee which is usually paranoid about trojans/browser exploits etc. Google search for altervista and virus brings up mainly anti virus software links. The others are quite right though - if in doubt, bin it. Jim
  7. << For £800 I would facking hope that they did hoover it out >> They dug out enough change for a can of Stella and stuff the previous owners kids left in there!!! Warranty now over so that was the last time it goes to a Subaru dealer - I will try Allen Jefries next time. B*stard expnsive but the front disks were well worth doing - loads more bite. That'll be small consolation then :-) Jim
  8. Also, Compare all max performance SO3s most used by the miles covered. Still using them on mine, no complaints. Jim
  9. Just had my MY02 serviced and MOT'd at Haxbys in Crownhill. Cost an arm and a leg (£800) as they did cambelt, tensioner, front pads and discs as well. I think the call to do the work was conservative (they were going to replace rear tyres with 3mm still left on them...) However, customer service was excellent. They kept me posted and Steve (Service Manager) and Claire (receptionist) were excellent. They cleaned and hoovered it out fpor me too. There is another non dealer who I have had good reports on, Alan Jeffries (spelling??) who does tuning, has a rolling road etc. Jim
  10. MOT passed - it just needed a number plate light. It was due a service anyway but the following needs doing (at 46,000 miles on MY02). New front discs and pads, £220 + labour. New cambelt and tensioner - don't know about the belt but the tensioner is £101 + labour. This adds £430 to the already quoted £440. No loan car available and they need mine another day - so add £30 for taxis to add insult to injury. (I saw the tensioner and it was pissing oil as claimed). Think I'll go drown my sorrows.
  11. Let us know how it goes. I've got the MOT tomorrow and I put mine back on just in case. Left the mongoose box on though, which has lost a big chunk of volume. Cheers, Jim
  12. You would have wasted much better odds on Southampton. Be playing Leeds next season (if Leeds are lucky). Jim
  13. and the Mongoose back box is now so quiet it will probably sail through the MOT next week. (Still looks good though..) and my neck muscles are going to atrophy from the lack of kick when the turbo comes in. BUT I can't get decent insurance with that modification if I don't have a Tracker fitted. (>25,000 miles per year). Such is life I guess. Jim
  14. Carefully! Jim Clicky another Clicky How to stop the airbag light coming on Clicky Good description here Clicky
  15. Not illeagal to my knowledge but expect to get the tape nicked as evidence if you get stopped. You'll get a good quality playback in a magistrates court. A biker got convicted on camcorder evidence alone last year. Various clickys here Jim
