Thanks for the advise guys. I don't think the belts has been changed on this car, as the only receipt I got with the car was for timing belt change. So this might be a good time to have new belts fitted, also just and overall condition check of the car. At least I know that it wont be costing me a arm and a leg to replace.

Hi There. Ever since the start of winter, my car has this loud screeching noise on start up and the power steering locks up. After a few seconds of idling the noise goes away and power steering becomes normal. I know its coming from one of the belts. Does this sound like just a belt issue, or is the power steering pump going, and what will this set me back. I live in Hertfordshire, and the closest mechanic will most likely be FB Tuning.

Hi. I had a similar problem with my car, failed MOT due to no CATS being present. The Hawkeye only has one CAT located on the downpipe from the turbo I replaced the entire 3" exhaust with a new 2.5" Cobra system with 200cell sports CAT or so was meant to believe, CAT it self was really small and on test day, the car failed again. After some hard driving and some heavy revving it finally passed by the skin of its teeth. Full exhaust cost me about £700. Had I known then, I would of gone on ebay, bought a used OEM downpipe which could be picked up for a few quid have it fitted to pass emissions then remove after.

T5NYW - its a black 2006 WRX. in the process of removing the 3" cat less turbo back system the car came with, and replacing it with a 2.5" Cobra Race type exhaust with Sports cat. Other than that car is pretty Standard front 22mm and rear24m white line ARD and BC coil overs, only purchased the car 6months ago so its a work in progress. Spartan - Yea I am a UTD fan, but also support my local team Watford, hoping to make it to their next home game.
