  1. Stevo, My missus amazed me today, saying she'd seen a scoob with plain blue mud flaps and it looked good, and also I should get them, I replied that they can look cheap, and showed her yours, she prefurs and wants me to get some, this is th first thing she's wanted to do tho the car, without me begging. Where did you get them? How much? and was it a simplefix? Thanks Jim
  2. Car booked in for friday, looking about £180 for fitting + new alarm ecu, Subaru Uk say that the offer for a free bok expired just over a year ago. No one mentioned this to it's customers.
  3. Guy's with STI wheels, what size are your tyres, because I can't find them under 215-45-17 the Bridgestone RE070
  4. Stevo, you said you have the Prodrive spring's fitted, Make's the stance of the car look better, how does if feel over standard?
  5. Stormy... Where can you order them from? Is there a web site? I will be doing some track days with them, and have you seen this post with a pic of mine? http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/651596/ShowPost.aspx jim
  6. Very nice, has a fellow wagon owner, I'm very jealous. Look's stunning, Gold wheels as well and the STI scoop and front bumper, flaps, if I could modify my car the way I want, it wouldn't be far off yours. Jim
  7. I'm going to have to stop on the modding for a few months and get the car right, by this I mean getting alarm fixed by subaru, so it works near radio masts,( booked in next friday) and then 4 * new tyres. I like the look of the bridgestones fitted to the new STI's believe it to be RE070's , correct? I know my tyre size is 215-45-17-w, is this the same size, How much am I looking for a tyre fitted or not? What do people think of them? Many thanks to anyone who helps jim
  8. Been on the Yokohama web site, as far as tyres go they look sexy, Due to mine looking like pic bellow, I need some new ones, how much?
  9. Have spoke to 2 locl dealers. 1 said that although they did in the past change it just billing for labour, this is now over, and that a bill for a new one, fitted + VAT = £180+ , 2nd said ring Subaru Uk, going to do this tomorrow, anyone know number, or department to speak to?
  10. Years ago in a True Grip issue, I saw a artical on a group driving over to the Isle of Man for a break. I was looking for some where to go for a break with the car, and have heard of so many good reviews. It was while myself and the missus were away in the lake disctrict this weekend that she said, it would be nice to go there and if we could tie it in with a meet then we might as well. I just wondered if this still happen's? Can anyone come along? How much does it cost and when? Now I understand this year might be out of the question, due to buying of a new house, and other holidays planned, next year I would like to do something like this or in other issue's I've seen Nurburg trips. Just wondered . jim
  11. Had a supurb weekend away with missus, Lake discrict, stayed in windermere, scooby handled brillantly. Here's a pic. P.s. I was standing vertically, camera horizontal and wife in pic is trying to stand vertically with car on 1:4 gradient. sorry for quality but I had to lower it so much for the message board to allow it(any way around this) Car is on the A592 Ullswater to Winderemere road, around Ravens Craig, just before Ambelside turn off, (the sign did say the nickname for the the road was "the Struggle") Average 28MPG on 360 miles motorway at 70+MPH and then the rest was twisty 2nd+3rd gear roads.
  12. Sound's like I'm going to be ringing subaru in the morning, is this a comon problem, and have many people with MY01 onwards had this?
  13. Hi all, have another little niggle, Had a lovely weekend away with wife in lake district, singing the praise's of the scoob, Did everything I asked, When a corner came out of the blue after a blind crest, kit just cornered no matter what the speed or conditions. 28MPG on a 550 mile thur-sunday weekend. Was bloody brillant. But on way home parked at a service's on M1 near wetherby. Car wouldn't lock. Used key and went inside for a pee, unlocked car with key, no start. Immoboliser wouldn't come off, Tried 4-digit code in manual on silver sticker, nothing starting to worry, Fortunatly a elderly gent in a MY04(sorry didn't get his name, to many things happening) sore me having a problem, and told me it was because of the police stations radio mast. Helped me push car 50yards, and I presses button and that was it. Burble lovely burble. He said he's had a mod done by dealer for a small price that fixe's it. But couldn't remember. Has anyone else suffered this problem? What is the MOD? How much? And to the gentleman that helped if he come's on here many thanks. Jim
  14. I'd go for the ragging every day, same islands, makes you forget about the day at work.
  15. Is this a contast? Who can bugger there tyres the best, some people have said the tyres don't take side wys movements well
  16. The tyres are directional, so the outside of the passenger front wheel, once it has changed has become the inside of the drivers side front tyre. So althought the tyres are pointing in the same dirction, they're in a different place on the car. Tracking is booked in for when i'm back off hols, by Tsl. I think it's just high cornering.
  17. Had the tyres rotated and balance to reduce tyre wear on certian areas. Had passenger tyres put onto drivers alloy wheel, as passenger side was worn more, and of course drivers tyre onto passenger alloy wheel. Believe this to be down to high cornering speeds. See pic bellow, of my phone camera, tyre is front passenger, this was worst, especialy on outside edge. Look at outside edge and center grooves. Tyres are standard size 215-45-17 made by Scudera? Were brand new 9000 miles and 1 year, dealer fitted them. These only have 1-2000 miles left in them, Any suggestions what next time?
  18. Going away thurs for a long weekend. Yey. As it's my birthday next week, wife has booked an hotel somewhere in the uk, for a weekend away. I don't know where. Don't need passport, 2-4 Hours drive from Nottingham(midlands) Somewhere I want to go. Could she be any more vague? I think it's Windemere and lakes. Hope so. I have reason's to believe this as, I have OS for the computer and when I switch it on last week, this was the last area viewed, and not by me, but could this just be a decoy? Does anyone on the forum live this way? Is there many camera's in the lakes?, or police speeding units? Where is to be carefull and where is there some good driving roads? How many miles can a MY01 WRX get out of a full tank, motorway 80-90MPH and a roads being legal? Have washed, polished and done nesseary preps to car for journey, so looing foreward to some good shots of it.
  19. Look's very good. What exhaust do you have? The tail pipe look's different. jim
  20. here's a pic of TAROX SJ's and red painted calipers
  21. I had EBC on my 98 turbo, lasted 3000 miles before they were warped. I've now got TAROX SJ discs and Mintex fast road/track pads on my 01 wagon. Loads better then std and the EBC's. I got them from, and a similar price too www.roadrunnermotorsport.co.uk I've also got Hose's and fluid from www.scoobymania.co.uk Jim
  22. Problem solved. When fitting new timing belt, many parts have to be removed, one being radiator hose's. Top hose on radiator, had a slight crack in it. Look's like it fractured when moved, So it's all taped up and not leaking now. Does need replacing. Looks like it's time to pretty up the engine bay... Samco. Anyone know of a god site for hose's?
  23. On journey's around town it's fine when taking it steady. It's when you get some national speed limit roads and give the car some speed and acceleration. No loss of any fluids, so thats's good and nothing in exhaust gases. Goiing back tomorrow as I work a morning shift, so they can have a look. On my Engine oil dipstick there is the 2 holes in it witht the letters for empty and full, my fliud level when engine at normal temp it 1mm above full line. Is this a problem?
  24. Hi all, Boy did I get really worried today! Had 5 year service yesturday. Cambelt, plugs, oils, brake fluide and lines etc. 22000 miles done Yesturday stead drive in traffic, no problems. Today going to in-laws, national speed limit road, opened the car up. (to speed limit of course) 5 miles duel carrige way with 4 islands, brakes brilliant. Stop at set of lights a mile from journey ends. Thinking take it steady 30mph rest of way, cool things down. Blue smoke throught air vents in car! Blue smoke throught bonet vent and side of bonnet. Oil Burning. S**T. V. Steady 1 mile drive. Lift bonnet and smoke comming from bottom back of engine bellow turbo. S**T!. leave it ticking over hoping it's burning spilt oil. Smoke stops and I stop engine a few minutes later. Wife takes car to shops o.k. Then I drive same way back home duel carriage way etc. No smoke but burning oil smell. Oil level fine No smoke out of exhaust. Car not leaking fluids, running fine. I hope mechanic spilt either engine oil or brake fliud and I'm just burning it up what ever it's on. Do people think that? As anyone had similar experience or any ideas? Thanks jim(one worried owner)
