  1. The driving test is very easy. Sight test, multiple test on a computer and a 5 minute run around town. You just walk in.

The F-150 comes in many variants and is the top selling truck ever. The one I had was a 5.4 V8 LWB. It was harsh and under-specced. Didn't even have a cd player.

  2. It has been sunny and bloody windy this last week and I have been learning how to be an oilfield worm! Some local news has hit the headlines. You no longer need a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Wyoming! Makes those road rage incidents all the more interesting I would imagine.

Anyway forklift training yesterday and today I am going to get my driving licence!

  3. I have driven a fair few thousand miles on the wrong side in the US and Europe so that doesn't worry me too much.

Anyway here now! That is we are in Casper after driving up from Denver. Got a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is very nice.

    Back to work tomorrow.

  4. Thanks for the good wishes guys. Having a very stressful time with getting the house ready for renting and fighting with banks to get money over here from the US. They have my blood pressure well over boiling. easier if i was in Guautemala!

  5. No joke. We are emigrating to the States in 2 weeks. No job in this country so I am now employed to dig holes in Wyoming and Colorado. The house is going up for let and the dogs have new homes :(. I still have the GB270 so it looks like I have to hand it back to the finance company as I have nowhere else for it to go.

Mrs Z and I will be getting on the plane without a place to go to (as of yet) with 4 suitcases and a bunch of memories. I oubt if we will end up with an Impreza anytime soon but an Outback might be an option.

Anyway thanks to all the SIDCers that I have met and all the best to the new regime.

  6. I ceased being a member when my job started struggling and I had to cut costs. previous to that I was an active member and RO for a year as well. I have always enjoyed the forum and the Scottish section has always been lively to a greater or lesser extent and tbh I rarely went into the general section at all.

I think change has been slow coming from the committee and I would rather see an annual change in the clubs officers so that the expertees gets shared around rather than in a small number of people so I welcome the new boys and girls along with thanks to those leaving the posts and hopefully those leaving will be refreshed and ready to put themselves up for election next year.

I am in the position of having to sell my scoob as I will be emigrating next year so I am afraid I won't be around to see what happens but I will be on the forum to read the reports.

  7. As anyone who has been in a properly run club will tell you having a democratically elected committee is essential. IMHO the posts should be shared around anyway as leaving someone in a post for too long causes bigger problems in the long run. Elections should be held every year or at most 2 years just to keep things fresh! Those that lose should be there to support the new holders and ease them into the position for the smooth running of the club.

This isn't party politics or even someone's plaything, this is a national club and we should all pull together.

  8. I don't know anything about this particular Rally, only what ive read about the pacenotes being a bit "dodgy".

Is this a well run event, being ruined by a bunch of farters or can they really not organise a ****up in a brewery...?

This was the best rally in the world allegedly!

I can only tell you what rally driving friends have told me and that the Tour of Mull was the best tarmac rally they have done and that they saved up their pennies every year to do this one. Some have been doing this for a few years and I have never heard them complain about the pace notes. I think the notes comment refers to the Raymond Munro court case from the Snowman rally. I believe (if the situation is the same as the Jim Clark rally which I have done) you get to make your own notes on Mull.

40 years of Tour of Mull run by the 2300CC. That doesn't happen by accident.

  9. Good luck mate. Times are very tight! I can't afford to put fuel in the scoob at the moment due to the lack of drilling work in the last year. Damned banks won't lend oil companies to drill new wells.

Anyway I am off to India next week to see what the rigs out there are like. Has anyone else been out there? I think I am going to work offshore Mumbai.
