dam the bit. having had a bit of bad luck with the old scoob these last couple of weeks, first was the thrust bearing retaining ring breaking, then crank shaft oils seal going........ then going again after i did not seat it all the way in and it wore against the timing cog!!!!! i went to settle the garage bill, john at maclarens been a great help with some good advice and p*** taking, , got the shock of my life...... ready.... clutch kit- £280, timing belt-£100 odd, 2 belt idlers and tensioner idler,-£90, oil seals x5 £23 plus another £8 for second crank seal , two gallon of oil after senond seal change -£50, oil filter £10, and after second front strip down thought i had better replace tensioner piston -£110! plus some other little bits like tensioner pulley retaining bolt stripping the thread in the block . i have now forgot how much money i have put into garage (think it totals £400) and still have another £190 to pay and still would like to change the plugs and the thermostat..its just as well i love this ra or i would have set fire to it by now, actually, the price of petrol i probably was still cheaper fixing it
