  2. After a conversation with a member earlier today, the topic of the forum came up and that they didn’t access it on their phone because it wasn’t available in the apps store. Unfortunately there is no forum app at present but accessing the forum with safari, chrome, or even Internet Explorer ? work perfectly fine on the mobile devices, we have even enabled Facebook and Twitter accounts to be linked to your forum account to make logging in easier. During the discussion it also became obvious they were not aware of the new/unread content button. This gets you to the latest info without scrolling through all the topics. You may already know these things but I thought I would highlight it again for those that don’t. The attached screenshot is IOS and Android but the button is in the same area on PC.

  9. This isn't click bate, you read that correctly. Cyrille Roget, Michelin's worldwide director of scientific and innovation communication, said the plan is to create more sustainable tires in the future, and experiments with wood waste have provided a solution. The tire maker will incorporate elastomers from wood chips to replace a tire's oil content. Today, 80 percent of materials found in tires come from oil. In the future, that percentage will drop to 20 percent by 2048, Michelin believes. Michelin continued to say that one day 3D printing will revolutionize the tire process. Where today drivers must physically change tires after the tread wears down, 3D printers could conceivably "recharge" tread. In layman terms, a 3D printer would print new tread when the tread eroded to an unsafe level. Roget even pictured a day when an electric car charging station also includes a 3D printer to "recharge" tire tread. Think I will stick to Continental ???

  11. WRX STI is the iconic Subaru model; the modern incarnation of yesteryear’s Impreza, conjuring images of special stage success and rallying legends pushing to the limit. Today, Subaru launch the WRX STI Final Edition, strictly limited to 150 models to say farewell to this brand icon and mark the end of this era of Subaru’s heritage in the UK. With the launches of new models, and investment in platform and powertrains going forward, the timing has felt right to open a new chapter for Subaru and allow WRX STI’s heritage to inform future developments rather than being continued. The Final Edition has a series of upgrades across key areas of the car, making this the most capable WRX STI sold in the UK and fitting tribute to its legacy. Driving performance has been improved by changing from mechanical and electronic to electronic control of the Multi-Mode Driver’s Control Centre Differential (DCCD) which provides optimum cornering ability. The wheel size has been increased to 19 inches to house new larger Brembo® brakes with yellow painted calipers, which improve fade-resistance and brake performance and a consistent pedal feel when driving on the limit. The front bumper has been redesigned to look more purposeful with the lower grille blacked out with a geometric textured panel, and has a larger opening to enhance cooling performance. The hexagonal grille has been sharpened and defined and a black surround has been added. The Subaru wing design which flows through to the C-shaped headlights has been incorporated, hinting at the Boxer engine under the bonnet. A Final Edition badge is positioned on the door. Inside, high gloss black inserts are added to the instrument panel, gear stick surround, door panels and steering wheel with red stitching and red seatbelts fitted to tie the scheme together. The front seats are now heated, and a larger 5.9” multi-function display has been added to the top of the dash. The instrument panel design has also been updated. The infotainment system now includes DAB radio and a reversing camera is included to make parking easier. WRX STI is also fitted with bi-functional projector LED lights, with a single bulb enabling High Beam Assist to switch between high and low beam automatically. High Beam Assist operates via a single-lens camera, which is installed in the front windscreen and detects when an onward car is approaching. The lights are also steering responsive, turning to the left or right depending on the driver’s steering input and illuminates more of the corner. Both technologies enhance visibility at night, allowing a clear view of the corners ahead. The WRX STI Final Edition is available to order from 1st November, priced at £33,995 on the road.
  12. Douglas, Isle of Man – Subaru of America, Inc. announced today that it will make another record attempt on the Isle of Man TT Course with rally driver Mark Higgins. Higgins will drive an all-new 2016 Subaru WRX STI time attack car that was jointly developed by Subaru of America, Inc., and Prodrive, with technical assistance provided by Subaru Tecnica International (STI). The new car is purpose built for the Isle of Man TT Course. “We are excited to be back and running on the Isle of Man TT course,” said Dominick Infante, National Manager of Product Communications, Subaru of America, Inc. “This is one of the amazing road courses in the world and the Isle of Man TT is one of the most exciting races of the year. We have previously run the TT Course in near-stock Subaru WRX STIs, but this year we set out to design the ultimate WRX STI for this circuit.” For the 2016 car, Subaru of America decided to create a purpose built car that could tackle the arduous TT Course, which is similar in style to both the Nürburgring and Le Mans in the demands it puts on suspension and engines. It called upon the joint expertise of Prodrive for the design and build, and Subaru Technica International for technical assistance. Both have an extensive history in building and designing winning cars. Prodrive and Subaru have won three World Rally Championship Manufacturer titles together and three World Rally Championship driver titles. Prodrive also has experience running team Aston Martin in the FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24-Hour race. STI has experience designing great road course cars, designing the class-winning 2015 Nürburgring 24-Hour Race winner. In 2014, Subaru broke their own previous lap record of the fabled 37-mile course with an average lap speed of 117.510 MPH and a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds. The previous record of 115.36 MPH was set in 2011 in a WRX STI. About Subaru of America, Inc. Subaru of America, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. Headquartered at a zero-landfill office in Cherry Hill, N.J., the company markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of more than 620 retailers across the United States. All Subaru products are manufactured in zero-landfill production plants and Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. is the only U.S. automobile production plant to be designated a backyard wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. 13. Subaru is one step closer to returning to commercial helicopters after a new model developed jointly with Bell Helicopter Textron was type-certified by American authorities earlier this month. The Japanese maker of automobiles and aircraft will work together with the U.S. company to manufacture the new multipurpose 412EPX, with plans to sell over 150 units worldwide. Subaru stopped making commercial helicopters 23 years ago. "Subaru will focus on Asia, and Bell on Europe and the U.S., as we sell commercial helicopters around the world," Shoichiro Tozuka, executive vice president in charge of Subaru's in-house aerospace company, told Nikkei in a Tuesday interview. This will mark the first time Subaru directly sells its helicopters abroad. Helicopters for the Asian market will be made in Japan. Customer service will also be based there, and Subaru is currently training the necessary personnel. The joint model is based on Bell's best-selling 412EPI, allowing the companies to spend half as much money as they would have designing from scratch. Its safety features include the ability to continue flying for 30 minutes after running out of lubricant oil. Subaru was in charge of the transmission system, among other things. Subaru currently produces military helicopters under a license from Bell. It is expected to start supplying UH-X helicopters -- a military derivative of the 412EPX -- to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 2022, and hopes synergies with the new commercial version will help reduce costs.
  14. You may have seen this before but its a little reminder to anyone who says their Subaru is slow, drive it properly ? </
  15. Hi and Welcome back!!! Sensibleness is definitely a word but its not used very often here ? Nice choice and it does look in good condition in the Pic. ?
  16. Thought I’d pop down to my local Cars & Coffe which is organised by Stratstone. It was the first time I’d been as I don’t normally do carpark meets but this was properly organised. Saw a few scoobs in between the Ferraris, Lambos and Porsches.
  17. @hackisfun I have created a new section for Northern Ireland. It would be good to get some more discussion involvement from across the water.
  18. ??? Hi and Welcome. Lovely looking hawk you got there. Personally I'd go with the Bilstein's. As far as ARB are you thinking of going bigger? From memory, which isn't that good, they are 19mm front and 21mm Rear.
  19. Hi Simon, welcome to SIDC. The Scoob certainly looks great in the pic and 340 is a great reliable number and will run forever. Hope to see it in the flesh sometime soon. ?
  20. Hope you have a great time and find some great roads for the Scoob to do its magic.

    SOLD OUT!!!
  22. So the government have finally decided to allow learners on the motorway with fully qualified instructors. Part of me is pleased they have finally worked out it might just be useful. Back home in the fartherland ? one must complete several hours of motorway and night driving to pass the basic driving test. It is only voluntary at the moment but hopefully the next generation of drivers won’t hog the middle lane ??? Next we need to have driving lessons for performance cars to stop people jumping into vehicles the simply can’t handle. P.s I am getting old ????
