So, last week I was driving along then my oil warning light started flickering at idle, so i nursed the car home (about 2 miles). When I got home I could hear a knocking from the engine A quick browse online pointed towards a blockage or breakage somewhere resulting in oil starvation. The oil level was fine, it gets checked every fortnight. A visit to Autoecosse comfirmed the worst, knocking bottom end and damaged turbo due to oil starvation
So, after getting over the disappointment its time to plan what to do next. Its going to be bigger and better! Been looking at engines online, looks like it'll be a 2.5 lump since thats all I can find! I would prefer a new block as im wary of a second-hand one. However, ive found this, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-EJ257-STI-Forged-Short-Engine-20k-miles-/250844915493?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a6785a725
Anyone think its worth going for or am i just better getting a brand new block?
Also, do 2.0 heads fit on a 2.5 block? Ive read they do but need a thicker head gasket to get the correct compresion ratio, true?
Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Kev
