About Scooby Ian

  1. There was a program on tv that tested all the main octaine boosters o. A number of cars in lab conditions, one of the cars being tested was a 2005 sti. The short of the story was none of the octain boosters made any difference to standard fuels. The conclusion of the tests was no increase on bhp figures and no performance gains. Waste your money if your that way inclined.
  2. When I got my 06 Impreza it only came with one Subaru key, because the other was lost or misplaced. The chap that sold me the car had a Nissan key cut that had a chip and had that programmed as a replacement. It works out so much better value than getting an original Subaru key and I was told the chip fitted in the Nissan key was the closest to the Scooby original. Hope this helps Ian
  3. I agree with the above post. Really not interested in the food side of the meets, but would like to get some some drinks.
  4. I would really like to see some evidence of how a dump valve may effect an engine good or bad? I have had a good look on the net and haven't been able to find anything that can definitively say that extra wear due to the car running rich on lift off may be expected, as for other effects of VTA valves like loss of power ect I'm again unable to find a cut and dry answer? If anyone has any links I wouldn't mind a little light reading on the subject
  5. I'm not saying don't fit a VTA dump valve, but there is no performance gains to be had by fitting one. As you say the pro's and cons of fitting VTA dump valves will always get mixed views and if the sound float's your boat go for it, although if fitting one it may be a good idea to get the car mapped with the dump valve in place. I'm considering fitting a HKS VTA dump valve to my 2006 wrx, but will get the car mapped sortly after fitting it to make sure the scooby isn't running rich on lift off, due to the lack of recirculated air that the MAF has already accounted for.
  6. Better? The better choice is not to fit a VTA dump valve.
  7. Here you go I'm very pleased with the look and sound from the blitz, well worth the £500
  8. You hit the nail on the head mate. After having the hunting problem I wasn't able to leave it till the morning so was out a10.30 with a torch and found I hadn't clipped the bottom of the airbox back in correctly All sorted now no hunting at all. If I was to replace the second CAT with a de-cat pipe will I need a remap? I know there would still be two cat's in place, one in the downpipe and one in the up pipe. I would like more noise and better gas flow without having to get a remap untill I have added a few more bits.
  9. Well I got the delivery at just after 2 this afternoon and about 15 min's later the heavens opened, trouble was the car was up on the ramps and one of the bolts from the cat was off, the easy one. With a river running under the car I kept going with limited tools and 3 hours later the exhaust and panel filter was fitted Feeling very please with myself started the car and had a little blast up the road the sound is supurb very happy Then noticed that the RPM's where hunting a little WTF!! it's almost like the car want's to stop before the RPM pick's back up. The car feel's like it's running ok, but when slowing in traffic or at a stop the RPM just drops. Now I don't know what the hell's going on with the car? could it be the new cosworth panel filter? I can't see the exhaust causing the hunting?
  10. Ohh well They will soon get used to it or not. When it turns up today it's going on and it wont be comming off again
  11. They ain't that noisy with just a cat back are they? it should be interesting on my 1am munchies run to tescos I'll have it by tomorrow .. just had an email from Scoobyworld Just need to refill the wallet and start the look for a larger turbo, de-cat downpipe STi intercooler & remap. After that I really need to sort the handling and brakes
  12. Well I have been waiting and putting off doing any mods to the car for a while, but I have just placed an order with scoobyworld 1 x Blitz Nur Spec R Exhaust (Blitz Nur spec) there are so many choices out there but I have always liked the look of the Nur Spec 1 x Cosworth High Performance Panel Filter Now it's like waiting for christmas I need my stuff now Anyone know how scoobyworld are with regards to delivery times? My scooby will finally start to sound like a scooby
  13. Thanks everyone I have posted this thread on other scooby forums, so that people are aware of it. Had a chat to someone this evening and he thinks the ad has also made it onto eBay had a quick look just now but I can't find it. If anyone finds my car advertised anywhere would you be so kind as to let me know so I can try and get the thing removed asap. Thanks again for all that have sent a report and also gathered info for me. You can be sure this isn't going to happen twice.
  14. Thanks G I hope PH pull's their fingers out their A*** and removes the ad and bans the I.P I would hate to think anyone would lose out to this sort of thing.
