Interesting to compare premiums, although as Aviva advised me, 'you can't compare one policy to another'.
Me being a 41 yr old male, driving for 23 years, full NCB and never a point on my licence. Impreza Turbo 2000, MY 2000, no performance mods, just a non-standard stainless steel exhaust and leather interior. Increased mileage limit from 4000 to 8000 as sold other car. Overnight on driveway.
Renewal quote received was approaching £600. Phoned around (never get a good deal online when any mods are involved), Aviva initially quoted around £700 which apparently included a 15% discount as I'm 'an exiting Aviva customer and we want your business', when I expressed my 'surprise' at the level of the premium, it soon reduced to around £570. How can they suddenly lose over £100 from a premium?? :huh:/> I pointed out that a friend of mine had recommended Aviva as he insured his 2005 Porsche 911 Convertible for <£200, this is where 'you can't compare one policy to another' came from, or so I'm told........hang on, a higher performance car, worth I guess, at least 5 times the value of my Impreza, but insurance is third of the price. It just doesn't add up.
A couple of other quotes brought the price down to around £530, which my existing broker matched.....so how did they manage to lose around £70 from the renewal premium, which in itself was 'competitively priced to match all my needs'? I won't advertise who they are.
Those of you sub £400 have an absolute bargain in my view, make the most of it.
