  1. You need to be very careful with that road Neil. It's a very popular route with many cyclists. I've cycled to and around there many times. It links the two major outdoor centres of the Trossachs, Aberfoyle & Loch Katrine, so please treat it with caution.

It is a great road, without a doubt :driving: , and I remember seeing some youtube footage on here a year or two back of someone driving very fast and taking risks along there, but all I'm saying is just to treat that route with a little caution :icon_salut: .

  2. Another day, another couple of mods :smiley-taunt014: .

Finally managed to fit my 4-pots & new discs/pads. Although I did struggle to bleed them properly, and still very, very spongy. Might need to trundle very slowly somewhere to get them done properly tomorrow?

I also got the 17" ST2's delivered today, so on they went. Makes a huge difference for the better in my opinion. Just need to save up for some coilovers, or fit some lowering springs in the meantime....anyone got some spare????

  3. Looking good, not a fan of decals usually but looks very nice with the 555 livery. Like the steering wheel, where did you pick that up from ?

    Chris.

Got it from U.S. ebay and just measured up the centre horn button and got a set of STi wheel centres to match it  .

It's a few cm smaller than the Nardi one was and just getting used to the size of it just now. It does feel good though.

  4. Really suits the car it's looking fair braw :icon_salut: keep up the good work, missing my RA big time :crying:

Cheers Bobby. Miss your RA as well mate. I enquired about buying it straight back off Thommo, but nae reply :crying: , he must be chuffed to bits with your old RA mate  .

Your car still steals the show on the SIDC stand by the looks of things though, lol :smiley-taunt014: .

  5. Looking good phil!

    Cheers mucker.

Not to everyone's taste I know, but the stickers were a factory option which this car once had on, so just returning it to the way it rolled off the production line  .

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :smiley-taunt014: .

  6. Decided to do a bit on the 555 today.

Removed the "SUBARU" from the boot.

Removed the crappy Sparco pedal covers and fitted much better WRC ones.

Fitted the new Speedline ST2 16" winter wheels so I could clean up the standard STi gold ones ahead of selling them.

Finally I gave the interior a shampoo and scrubbed the exterior ahead of fitting the 555 rally decal pack tomorrow.

Here's a few pics, but should have a load more of the decal day tomorrow  .

  7. I've done a few wee bits'n'bobs recently, but not a huge amount to actually show for it. Got some new grooved discs for the front & back, totally refurbed the 4-pots I picked up and stripped them back to shiny bare metal and engine lacquered them. Still to be fitted though.

Fitted a nice new leather & red stitching STi gear knob to match the steering wheel. CHanged my mind yet again regarding wheels for the car.

In the process of selling the JDM 16" alloys and a set of 17" Speedline Turini because I picked myself up a set of black 16" Speedline ST2 for the winter and a lovely set of gold 17" Speedline ST2 for the summer, so best of both worlds I think . Pics to follow when all the wheels arrive here.

I also took delivery of my replacement 555 Decal Kit. Just need a bit of a hand in fitting them properly.

So apart from expecting a delivery of a new roof vent handle some day soon courtesy of Ade over on Type-RA, I should be able to get on with fitting my 4-pot set-up and enjoying the summer and a few track days with the beast. Track day at Kames on 23rd June should be a blast.

Here's a few pics, and will post some more when more items arrive.

  8. Warped disc perhaps? Will distort more with heat, the settle back down to an occasional rub off the pads at slow speed when cold?

Oops, just noticed your first post saying they were new brakes. Was it new discs & pads on the rear? Is there any chance you cooked them before bedding them in?

  9. Cracking write-up there, and hopefully that's all your bad luck out of the way for the season :icon_salut: .

Best of luck for the rest of the year mate, I'll be keeping an eye out for your results and further updates  .

  10. The Rally Experience sounds great. What are the details/cost for that?

Just thinking ahead as it's my 40th this year and would love to do something like that rather than the usual supercar experience type thingy :driving: .

  11. Colour match was good Kenny. No lacquer needed, but tbh was good to reprotect the metal, and will get a paintshop to restore the finish properly later.

Just got to psych myself up to fit the 4-pots and new wheels. Anyone got any tips for doing the bleeding of the brakes?

  12. Just a quick update. Ground down 2 patches of rust and restored the finish. T-cut the rest of the car, bought a few new items (4-pots & discs & hoses, steering wheel & boss, Speedline PF7's & D1 forged wheel nuts). Also replaced two parts of the sideskirts, replaced both L&R roof gutter trims and fitted the new steering wheel. Also got and fitted a replacement nearside elect folding mirror from PaulSTi555 :occasion14: .

  13. I think you can do a TGV delete mod. So if it turns out that you've got an expensive replacement part to buy for this fault, it might be worthwhile looking at the delete option?

I'm sure someone with more experience in this will be along to advise soon  .
