  1. Ah, not read that yet... going to do that now though, thanks for the heads up :occasion14:

Ok, never saw that as i wasn't logged in so could only see the 1st lot of pages, DUH, ok, that has sold it to me, ordering in a bit...

    Thanks Stu :headbang:

  2. Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone had tried this, if so is it any good?

    Chipex

Was going to buy me a repair kit, but not sure if these really work, if they did wouldn't everyone have a tube?

    Rich

  3. :o I'm really shocked you were quoted that much - can only guess it's down to your postcode because our type R STi has a shed load of mods and Keith Michaels insure it for FAR less than that - sorry I can't be of any more help :(

It is a strange one as I have seen others that have quotes for like £400 or lower, and they have mods also.... must have been something I said :brickwall:

Thanks for your replies though

  4. Have you tried Gary at Keith Michaels? Modifications are no problem plus as an SIDC member you'll also get discount.

Yes spoke to Gary today, he asked that I speak to Jeremy as he has dealt with a quote for me before, i did let them know I was an SIDC member, but still close to £1000.

When I tried Aviva and searched for my car, it lists 3 of them with the same reg number, I select the one that has the correct BHP next to it so if that takes into account the mods, do I need to declare them again as seperate, as the mods will have been taken into account already....

Update to the above, no difference, tried that and it goes up :(

  5. I read the one about Aviva on a previous thread, will check with them online in a second... I unfortunately live in an OX4 area, probably the highest priced area in Oxfordshire, but i thought I'd trry my old address in Banbury and the difference was nothing to write home about...

Married, na tried that didnt agree with me nor her  so divorced now, thats one of the reasons i bought myself a 1/2 decent car.. trying Aviva now

    Thanks for your reply :occasion14:

Hmm, Aviva no good, 12 weeks free offer still on but not a nice quote:

    Your Quote:£1365.00Per Month:£125.35

  6. Have you tried going direct to each insurance comp. Might be slightly cheaper cutting out the middle man. Obviously it depends where you live and if daily commute etc. Are you maried? Try the wife as main driver before this new ruling comes into play. My car isn't modified so can't comment on that factor but have heard of plenty guys on here with good quotes with mods declared. Aviva had an offer on for 12 weeks free insurance recently. Don't know if there still doing it though but good luck.

  7. Hi all,

I have just had my renewal come through for MY05 WRX, it has been slightly modified but the prices that I am being told are way higher than they were last year, details of mods:

    up pipe

    down pipe

    Mapped to give 262 BHP

    BOV

    Racing alloys

    Cat back exhaust

If I use the comparison web sites, it asks you for any modifications made, one of these says "chipped" although mine hasnt had the chips replaced i selected different values, fro 0-10 BHP, 10-25 BHP and such forth (as in additional power), the price hike adds an additional £400-£500, so this takes it to over £1200.00, and it is garaged overnight,I don't have any convictions, 10+ years no claims, and I'm over 40 (just), but if i then remove the "chipped" part it then reduces it down to just over £600.

I have contacted Keith Michaels to see what they can offer and there's is still above the £900 mark, does anyone know have the same problem or is declaring mods a major issue with insurance these days?

If this is the way it's going to keep going, and with fuel prices she will have to go, but it would be a sad day :(

    Anyone have any ideas?

  8. Thanks guys. Bonnet opened because it hadn't been closed properly before I collected the car :(

Roof is the bit I'm worried about, the bonnet, screen dash etc can be replaced easily enough but the roof just looks nasty!!!

I know what you mean about the roof problem, they do look nasty when they are damaged, I'm sure they can replace the panel as they have told me that mine can be replaced after you know what.

Hopefully they will get her back on the road in the shortest time possible, you able to have another car off them while it in for repair, as it appears to be their fault and if they have taken responsibility for the repairs?

  9. Holy :censored: Stu, not good mate, not good.......

Glad you is ok though mate, metal can be fixed.

So you hit something and then the bonnet came up??? you're lucky with that one mate.....

    Oh no Stu,

Not good but at least your ok, sounds like they may have been at fault or the bonnet catch requires a little grease to ensure that it catches correctly.

Glad your ok though, thats the important part, and it sounds like you were lucky that nothing was in the way when you had to cross two lanes to get into the lay-by.

Hope she is back on the road soon.

  10. Vimmy,

Sorry i know you were pulling my leg :occasion14: mine will be going that way again next week,, more nice parts to be fitted

    gc8-r

Umm, it may have been a few weeks ago, popped in there for some cleaning products, normally park right down the end out of the way, where were you?

  11. Hi Stu, yeah it was me and the family pootling around the backroads to Bicester for some retail therapy, there's some fine and empty roads around these parts :) It was funny I was saying to the wife oh its....Stu...and couldn't get my hand/brain to function in time to waive. I spotted it was you with the red rim, no funny laughs please, it makes the car stand out a good bit old chap. I managed a wee wave to the guy having trouble keeping up with you on the roundabout :) Looks like you guys were having a blast :)

    Stu,

It was good, shame there wasn't more of us it would have been better, but what can you do....

Lets have another one, we could see if any of the other groups want to join or we can see if they have anything on that we can attend.

    Track day:

Need to sort that out, if you spot anything that i dont see can you let me know as i would like to join in the next one.

    Vimmy,

It wasn't a case of having trouble keeping up, i forgot where i was and when i always get to that round about i turn left, its the way to get to Cotwolds Subaru, my mind thought i should have been going that way, i even indicated but then thought, "what are you doing" and then carried on to catch Stu back up.

  12. Ah, caught me stopping off for a stock of energy drinks to get me through the day! Where were you then?!?

    Hi,

I was on my way to CS to get my cam belt and tensioners changed, i was just opposite the garage, just saw you driving in, you wouldnt have spotted me tbh ;)

  13. A good start after only an hour! ;)

...just to add, the meets are for you guys so if another date suits, please do speak up (yes Matty, I know midweek works better for you! :))

I just got my on call covered for this date, hope it doesnt change, but if it does I can see what can be done...

    Rich

  14. Yep, that was me - car full of staff. Did wave but was a bit understated, only clocked it was you as you got level! :)

I saw Stu on Monday @ the garage near Eynsham around 08:10 , never saw me though ;)

  15. Was a cracking day wasn't it! Good to see you.

Had a search on facebook - there's over 500 Richard Bakers on there... got to 150 and gave up! :) I may be easier to find (Stu Mason - b/w storm trooper in a suit as my profile pic)

    Added you Stu... :)

  16. That was such a good day yesterday, and the weather held out for us all as well.

I know there were a few nice photo's taken, does anyone have any video clips of the day?

Can wait for the next one.

Oh if anyone wants to add me on Facebook, I'm there, do a search for me.

    Richard (Baker)

  17. Stu, would you like to put one of your wonderful little maps up so we know exactly where to meet you please? :D

I will leave Abingdon around 06:45, should be at Kingston Bagpuize around 07:00 / 07:10 hopefully, can the trundle down the A420 to Swindo then onto the M4.

Is the layby or where you will be at Kingston obvious, i may not be awake enough to spot it B)

    Yes map please if possible...

    Rich

  18. I'm up for that, will probably be at the services, as i need to go via Abingdon, I will shoot straight down the A34, quicker than going across country to Swindon.

What's the services called on the M4, anyone have an idea, or is it the one near Swindon?

    Rich
