  1. After a month or so of having my WRX SL Blobeye, my bonnet popped up at speed. Only onto the latch, I was able to pull over quickly and push is down - hasn't happened since (over 12 months), but I did poop myself a little!!!
  2. I have an STi backbox and front anti roll bar fitted to my WRX SL Blobeye. That's it for now :-( Am I just being paranoid here or are these "mod's" going to de-rail things re: an insurance claim if not declared?? A mate of mine wrote off his Nismo 350Z and they didn't question the K&N Induction kit he had fitted!
  3. Take your pick: (From here: http://www.wired.com/cars/energy/magazine/15-06/st_atlas)
  4. I voted for a protest, but TBH, it would do nothing. NOTHING. Remember when Diesel hit 80p lt and the lorry drivers locked the place up? Oh yeah, that helped - 10 years on, look where we are! Tesco near Cambridge is now at ~125p lt for RON99!! (poor *******s already paying £2 lt - it's only a matter of time before we're all in the same boat). Check this from 2000: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/860572.stm Everyone is outraged, but the gov know people MUST drive and thus they WILL pay. Fuel and fuel duty is a cash cow. Simple. That will never change irrespective of the gov in charge. The ONLY way to pay less for fuel is to emigrate or drive a cheaper to run car (but the latter is only a delaying tatic as price always go up - see here: http://www.petrolprices.com/fuel-tax.html). The move of the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and Lotus etc... to move KERS from F1 to road going cars to allow "as much as 30mpg from supercars" will filter down, but it'll take 10 years at least and won't reduce the cost of fuel as the Gov can still put duty on the elec required to run a hybrid (or on tech in the case of KERS). Arrrhhhhhhhh...... Sorry for the random tangential rant. This subject gets my goat. But then the other side of me says, I run a high performance car and I know the "risks" when I signed up. Sigh. </rant>
  5. Hey peeps, For those who care (and to save me explaining it :-) ), here's some more links (CLSIDs). http://www.thewindowsclub.com/the-secret-b...ndows-7-godmode PW
  6. Have a look on a thing, urmmm, what's it called, that thing that allows you to see, urmm, everything. Oh yeah, that's it. The INTERNET!
  7. Urmm..... probably. But google is your friend :-)
  8. Hey guys, As some of you may know, I'm an uber-geek. So I thought I'd share this newly discovered gem for Windows 7. If you're running Windows 7 (or Vista, but your mileage may vary), you can access a huge number of advanced/hidden config options from a single place. Create a folder anywhere on the system (say, your Desktop) and rename to be this: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Go into the folder and bam! All (well, nearly all) you could ever need or want! Have fun. PW
  9. Rare, but not uncommon on the 2nd hand market as far as i can tell. I might in the market for one as my next car. Anywho.... that's another thread. </thread hijack>
  10. Only 300 Spec D's were ever made. I suspect all/most are now in the second hand market and thus numbers won't be available. Soz. PW
  11. Ha! Coolio. Well, now we know each other, feel free to ping me a msg sometime. PW
  12. Hey bud, don't give up of scoobs. If you have a lemon, get shot asap, maybe the Citizens Advice Bureau can help; they helped me when I had a lemon of a BMW. I've ad my 53 bugeye for 11 months and it's been great, so please please don't give up. PS
  13. Yup, I should be able to make this one too.
  14. Let us know where you go and how you get on. PW
  15. Hey buddy. I love the blobeye in that colour, great looking STi you got there! Welcome to SIDC btw. PW
  16. No problem :-) Shout again if you need anything. PW
  17. Yeah, I'm on RC1 at home too. It's so much quicker than Vista. It's what Vista should have been and MS know it! We're running the RTM version in the office on a couple of systems in prep for public release in a month. There's a couple of issues with it, but its looking pretty good. But I'm really very keen to fully explore Windows 7 with regard to it's Virtualisation capabilities! It's the future! PS: If I had the time I'd do an uber-review of it. But I don't so JFGI. PPS: If you don't know JFGI means. Google it. ;-)
  18. Ok, shame you're so far away. If you were closer I could have popped over. Let me knoow how you get on.
  19. Ok, so the connection to and from your router are ok. Can you ping www.google.com? Can ping 194.168.4.100 and/or 192.5.5.241??? If you can ping www.google.com you'll be able to ping the other two. If you can't ping google, but CAN ping the other two, then we can force your local DNS setting as a temp work around. To do this (going from memory here, no XP Virtual Machines running atm): Open Control panel, open networking, right click on your Local Area Network Connection, select Properties, scroll down and find TCPIP Networking on the Protocols list, click the Properties button. One the IP address and DNS settings field, they'll probably both be "Get settings from server" (or similar). One the DNS one, put in 194.168.4.100 as the Primary and 194.168.8.100 as the secondary. (these are the public Vigin Media DNS servers). Click Ok until you get back to desktop. Repeat the ping tests. If you cna ping google, open IE and see what happens. If you can't, we'll check out the router and it's connection to the net, which TBH is probably where the problem is. PW
  20. Hey hey. DNS is a fundamental thing, but this message is red-herring. The message means: I can't find google.com If you visit another site (any other site) and you get the same message, it means your computer can't find the internet (basically). I'm a little pressed for time at the moment so can't explain all this stuff in detail, but here's some pointers: 0) "Repair" your network connection. In XP, right click on the network icon near the clock and select Repair. This will flush the DNS and ARP Cache, disable and renable the adapter and release/renew your IP address. 1) Check your IP address (if it starts with 127.0...... or 169......) check the cable linking your PC to your router as your PC won't be picking up and IP address 2) If your IP address is ok (ie DHCP is on and you have 192.168...... or 10....... as your address) can you ping the router? 3) Router config. Is it setup to be DHCP from your ISP, if so, what DNS servers has is got? Can you ping them? 4) Check your HOSTS file. There should be only one line in it 127.0.0.1 LOCALHOST (some things like Spybot add extra lines, this is ok and it'll be commented) There's a million things it would be. Let us know how you get on, what you try and what happens with each test. Shout if you need more details. PW
  21. Coming out of Westwick, just north of Cambridge. I've waved for the last few days and had nothing. But today, a breakthrough, he waved. But he didn't look too happy about it. It's a grey WRX or Spec D (haven't had a close look) Hawkeye with an older guy driving; if it's you, feel free to say hi :-)
  22. Hell yeah!!! I'd be a 5 times gold medalist!!
