Starting early....I'm helping KH / KMSC get a list together of folk that are interested in competing. There were a fair amount of Imprezas involved last year, so plenty of competition throughout the Championship.website http://superlapscotland.co.uk/
So.... Whos in? If you are interested in competing please drop a quick email to club@superlapscotland.co.uk or leave your details on here with some basic info - Name, car, rough power/weight.2015 Class StructureThere are some minor tweaks to the classes for 2015 to try and make the classes fairer.Pro: > 450 bhp per tonneA: 351 - 450 bhp per tonneB: 271 - 350 bhp per tonneC: 211 - 270bhp per tonneD: 161 - 210 bhp per tonneE: <160 bhp per tonneAlso Team Trophy and Road Car Championships to contest as well as the Class and overall King Of The HillProvisional dates announced....Round 1 - Sunday 19th April 2015 KnockhillRound 2 - Saturday 23rd May 2015 KnockhillRound 3 - Sunday 24th May 2015 KnockhillRound 4 - Saturday 25th July 2015 KnockhillRound 5 - Sunday 26th July 2015 KnockhillRound 6 - Sunday 20th Sept. 2015 KnockhillCosts...The entry fees are- One day event = £175- Double Header= £265- Full Season (6 rounds) = £750Second Drivers- One day event = £150- Double Header= £220Structure....4 sessions throughout the day20min open pit warmup20min open pit practice3x2 hot lap Qualifying <scored>1 hot lap final <scored>

Update..
New engine in..... then out again to investigate a strange top end rattle. Turbo off to TD again as its making funny noises.....
Dry Sump arrived - will fit when engine issue is resolved
GRP doors on, P4P windows fitted
oh, also had the car weighed with the doors and glass changed over. Not as big a saving but I did have just under half a tank of fuel in. So about 20kg
Total - 1136kg
FL -346kg
FR - 340kg
RL - 214kg
RR - 236kg
So about 40kg saved I'd thunk as the fuel levels arent the same from last time
Bring on the corner Gs!!
ZEN dry sump system
some new whiteline bits here too... more castor, better front drop links.....
also some carbon wing mirrors to save a few more kg
*********************************************
another week another story....
I think the newage starter motor has arrived to suit the dry sump tank... so one less thing to hold it up.
Heads getting rebuilt at Lateral again... different valves/caps/seats/springs to change out the newage stuff that was installed by whoever built them 2 build ago. Wasnt RCM, but was one of their recommendations. Will retain the old valve gear for Fee's AVCS heads.
The difference - the Newage valves are shorter, so I have been running mega sized shims in my STi3 heads, causing wearing on the retainers. This is thought to be the source of the top end rattle that ended my last trackday early.
Turbo sent back from Turbo Dynamics, repaired and improved under warranty (thanks to Lateral). The WG mechanisim was sticking... again. It has been replaced by the new inconel mechanism now.
ECU has been returned... now upgraded to Alkatek. Need to really read up on its features, but I think its basically a GEMs ecu now.

I like my short TypeR box for KH, just could do with a shorter 5th to keep it on the boil
The ratios i've found for the 6sp suggest is pretty much the same as the 5sp box I have 1-4, with a shorter 5th and 6th of course.
1st - 42mph
2nd - 64mph
3rd - 87mph
4th - 113mph
5th - 157mph
6th - 202mph
-
onboard the Evo X
-
its a TY856WN6KA
I cant find any info on its ratios!
-
I've now got a collection of boxes and diffs
2x R180
1x R160
1x whatever is used on STI UK 6 sp box
2x close ratio 5sp DCCD boxes
1x STi 5 sp
1x UK STi 6sp DCCD
I'll just throw in the exact same box for Ingliston as the gearing is FANTASTIC for Ingliston
-
Qualified 5th out of 20odd, up to 4th... battled with a caterham for a few laps then retired with gearbox problems. Rear ended by an M3 towards the end LOL
Was struggling with gears during the SIDC trackday too... very hard and slow to go down gear. Something finally gave up during the race Not angry, just dissapointed as it was a good race, on for a class win.
Rear facing footage of 5/6laps of race 1
-
save weight and make it handle and stop.... power is the last thing you want to upgrade
-
should have a gearbox of sorts dropped off in a couple of hours So, it could/should be running to some extent
-
my race was wet, so just stayed on the 888s. Towards the end of that race (after I was out) there was a clear dry line
-
I moved over to let the two Evos by (red was one of them) to get a little bit of sport but they promptly slowed down and let me by LOL doh.
Good driving all round - only issue I had was a bit of a tight release from the pitlane. I came over the hill around 115mph and was greeted by a stream of 5 or so cars tootling out of the pits I normally brake somewhere around the pit exit for in the wet (end of white line in the dry) so had to haul on the anchors and stay in the centre of the road.
Didnt get held up by anyone Did run a little wide after misjudging a pass on an Elise I think it was. They looked to slow on the apex to move over out of my way. I assumed they would corner then move.... anyway I paid more attention the them than the track and ended up passing them on the astrotuff/grasscrete stuff on the outside of the chicane LOL
PS - Michelin Pilot Sport cups, lots of camber and 255 section tyres are mince in the wet LOL
-
just avoid holding high revs on long corners and it should be fine
-
updates:
Killed another engine through oil starvation (Lateral 2.1 this time ) Tried to hold 8000rpm through the Esses and Barcroft at Croft
New engine is fitted and nearly run-in - Another lateral 2.1 CDB, race cams etc - billet 321V.
Car looks slightly different just now - to fit in regs for the classes I race in. So BGW was whipped off
Immediate plans: Fit the dry sump, lightweight doors and lexan windows.
Fee will also be competing in a 2dr GC8 next year after rolling her GTR
-
aye, i'll maybe pop a thread up here
-
Good stuff
-
30kg a door Good to know!
Was the with the orig electic mirror?
My car is sitting around 1155 kg so should slide under 1100 when doors are changed
-
Race 1 - Got a good start and I maintain I possibly had 2 wheels on :S hehhe -
Had to pit to sort out my bumper... the front mounts had failed (prob kerb monstering) - engine temps and front tyres temps were getting pretty high... never mind all the smoke and sparks! let the green Brian Downie Impreza by then pitted.... gave away the 1st place.
Race 2 - Bogged down on the line but still made places from the back of the grid. Over took Fee on lap 2 and then power came into its own as my road tyres decided 20laps were a tall order
Race one from a G60 Corrado -
maybe I didnt have 2 onRace 1 from an Evo X - goot footage of Fee and myself -
Race 2 from the Exo - Fee had turbo gaskets blow so she says she had no power!
GT3RS gettign it a bit wrong avoiding the Radical on the start.doh
Race 1 I finished 3rd in class (last LOL), Fee won her class.
Race 2 I won my class and Fee finished 2nd in hers.
-
not Fee this time but me in the lower powered Impreza.
Sports & Saloons Class 1B - MSA list 1B tyres (Fee's old 888s from 2010 Time Attack)
Qualified 13th on a grid of aprox 30 with a low 58s lap.
Race 1 - belter of a start moving up a handfull of places but just couldnt defend them due to the cars power deficit! By lap 5 or 6 I was just cruising round as I knew I couldnt catch the cars in front on slicks and the other Impreza in 1B was out of sight for the time being. Nursing the tyres and brakes I ran low boost in this race - first race, first time in the car in 6months or so etc etc etc. Finished in 11th and 1st in class.
Race 2 - It started snowing just before we were called, then hail then rain.... it was a wet greasy start but the rain had stopped for the start but started falling again during the race. Wound the diff a couple of clicks forward (just for the start, popped it back to more rwd biased to avoid understeer during the 1st lap), upped the pressures and slackened the susp all round. Made another good start and managed to fight off the cars behind for much longer this time (more boooooost hehe ). Made a complete cock up late in the race by letting the yellow supercoppa through under waved blues (for about 5 corners!!) I couldnt work out why as I thought we were racing for position so thought that I must be wrong and eased a touch on the straight only to then see the rocketship cossie honking up behind us. Too late..... i'd lost enough speed to allow him by newbie mistake hehe.
Finished 9th overall with another class win Car felt much happier in the cooler temps with the tyres and brakes lasting longer. Great race with Alex Bruce in the EVO X
low points - got called into the clark of the course for a telling off lapped a slow caterfield under yellows. Fair enough but it may have been more dangerous to slam on the brakes it was going that slow when I (pack of 3 cars) came across it and the yellow.
In short -
Thanks to the Wallace Performance guys for spending their weekend down at a cold and wet Knockhill with me Great job with the car....
does that 2 half wheels count as 1 on, 3 off?
-
Loads of pics and vids here -

I'd imagine the Seat having a couple of hundred kg advantage over the Skyline Fee's main problem was traction.... and she also had a sierra cossie infront of her so not braking 100% normally
