  1. May have solved the problem, apparantly if the oil level in the sump is too high it can get dragged up into the Control Solenoid. I have jsut serviced it and noticed the oil was a little high this morning, so hopefully this sorts it!!!

  2. Yet again I am having trouble with the boost on my UK Turbo. The boost kicks and punches are random places along the rev range. Makes the driving not very enjoyable at all!

Ive cleaned the Boost Control Solenoid twice in the last 3 weeks and it doesnt clear the problem! ECU comes up with fault 23 (MAF Circuit Open) but I think thats an old fault.

Would it be worth resetting the ECU properly (plugs and fannying with the throttle way), Ive not used any cheap fuel in the last 3 months so can be that, even had Octane Booster in it for about a tanks worth?

Please help as its driving me up the wall!!! Cheers, Ryan.

  3. Going to change mine tomorrow night, now I have been told its not as simple as just dropping the old and filling up with new.

Do you need to remove one of the sensors (coil pack?) and crank the engine? Whats the purpose of this anyway?

    Cheers all, Ryan.

  4. Silly question, maybe, but I'm going to ask anyhoo. If taking the resnator out changes intake temps and throttle response, is this a safe mod without a remap?

Good question, my follow-up to that is regards Classic's. Is this worth doing, as I'm not fan of Induction kits and prefer just a panel upgrade.

  5. Thats the problem with Ebay, attracts too many half-wits. Im actually feeling sorry for this guy, as he probably doesnt know any better and thinks he is being as honest as he can. Does make me wonder where he gets £2500 for suspension when he cant string basic grammer together?

Ahwell, good-luck with the sale mate! Doubt you will get £6k for it, as it does look like it came straight out of the Ripspeed aisle in Halfords.

  6. May need a correction here, but with a fully Subaru service history, I suspect that would strengthen a PX at a main dealer if you wanted to go newage.

    Duuno, worth a thought.

That wasnt something I thought about before to be honest!

If you keep a big folder of history of all the money you spend on the car then you should be fine. Keep all the receipts and possibly like a spread sheet of all the dates that you service the car on. That way the dates of the services should match all the dates on the receipts.

I keep receipts for absolutely everything I buy for it. Still undecided on what to do, hate the thought that I'm wasting money I could save by doing it myself!

  7. Think the second hole is for a temperature sensor, my replacement Cat had one, but I blanked it off. CO2 is usually a Cat problem, check all the flanges are sealed up properly, as one not sitting quite right can suck air into the Exhaust and put the readings off.

I bought a replacement Llambda sensor from www.camskill.com, about £70 posted compared to the £250 odd from the stealer.

  8. I own a MY00 Turbo 2000 on 71k miles, so this month it turned a grand old age of 9 years old. Up until now, it has a full Subaru service history, now as much as I would like to continue that, I'm thinking is it really worth it?

I am a Motor/Plant Engineer by trade for the RAF, so no probs there. The only problem is if I came to sell?

What do people think/do? Is it worth keeping or not really worth the added cost?

    Cheers, Ryan!

  9. Cheers for all the help! Looking further into it, it does look as though the skirts are just standard colour coded items (which mine doesnt have), 22B spoiler and P1 splitter.

Something about those combined and the same colour of mine, to me, looks really smart!?

So might head down that direction?

  10. Ive not dealt with them for Servicing/Parts, but went in to have a look at some of there stock and they were really helpfull, so will keep them in mind and see what they are like for work?

  11. with subaru in cupar and aberdeen closed where do we get a main dealer service in the aberdeen/dundee area?

Aye thats not closed, went there for my MOT last month. As far as the guy told me, they wont be selling any brand new Impreza's, Legacy's etc.
