  1. I should be up - probably not in the Type R thought because I have a flat spot on one of my tyres and driving 3 hours on it would be a pain in the ass! lol New yoko didnt arrive in time! So I will be there depending on if I can talk my mate into driving.
  2. Been desperate to see Colin's car for ages! Braveheart, do you have a project / "my car" thread anywhere? Been digging through to find one. Found one or two pics and it looks awesome

  4. Think I will pop up for this one. Just to spectate and see some of these cars hitting the strip! Can't afford to brake anything at the moment! lol
  5. I'm not really clued up on where and when these events happen, is there a website with all the details, events, etc?
  6. Excellent, I love reading the updates on this thread. Would love to come and spectate but they are just too far to go for the day.
  7. So jealous! There is one guy that it only shows very brief clips of and its just sheer terror on his face!
  8. Sorry I never replied earlier just back from holiday today. If you drop the diff off to Kenny first thing in the morning it will be ready that day. As for diffs, try a wanted post on here - JohnS and Archie seem to have a fair stock of differentials! Failing that could always try ebay - I seen quite a few on there.
  9. As above, Kenny is who everyone will recommend. I had to rebuild my rear diff just over a week ago, and kenny got me to source parts for the diff and he simply build me one using the parts from my broken diff and the other I supplied. Charged £130 to build one from the two of them. Plus it cost me £100 for a second diff which I managed to get on here, which was quite lucky. Don't think rebuilding it is something you can do yourself. Yes there are only 3 main parts to a diff but setting them up isn't the easiest. There are adjustment shims inside and you need to set these just right to get the correct backlash, AFAIK. EDIT to say that the 130 doesnt include removing and fitting the diff. But that you should manage yourself no bother.
  10. Thanks mate, I'll update the post with my progress when it comes to fitting it, since there isn't an awful lot out there about them.
  11. I'll be back for this one and I really dont care where we go! lol Im down for route 2 and I dont even know what it is!
  12. I have acquired a mocal oil cooler from one of my mates. However, I need a sandwich plate. I have found genuine mocal adapters both thermostat operated and non on ebay. Would the thermo operated one be the best to go for, considering our climate? Can imagine it taking a fair while to warm up in Winter! Mocal Thermo Mocal Non-Thermo When fitting one of these I take it the oil pressure can cope ok with the additional capacity? Anyone heard any problems with the mocal sandwich adaptors leaking? I think it was user called gc8r or similar had a greddy adapter and it looked good quality however couldnt seem to find one online.
  13. Another update! Drilled the flange on Sunday there and it didnt quite take me 20 minutes but I did get it done! Took a while longer but Im putting that down to my rubbish drill bits (reminder to buy new ones!). First time in a good while I have been able to enjoy driving the car. So again big thanks to all those in the thread especially Archie. Top bloke - even offered to come down on his day off to give me a hand. Again, cheers guys.
  14. Looks like a "lucky" find. Probably a wee eye opener for a lot of people on here, me included.
  15. Having spoken with Archie on the phone I will just drill the flange. It beats trying to bum someone elses car to go up to Hillington to pick up the other one. Think I will just do it in situe as opposed to marking them up and removing the diff to do it, less chance of cocking it up! I knew it would simply be a case of getting the other companion flange from my old diff from Kenny or just drilling it. Looking at it I just assumed I wouldn't manage to drill it with a hand drill but if both of you (John, Archie) and Andy F have managed it, so will I!! Cheers for the call Archie, much appreciated, as is your reply John I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.
  16. WeeRISer update. So I bought archies diff and got Kenny to build me one using the best of the two. However the diff isn't matching up with my prop shaft. The bolts are sligtly different in position. Are their different companion flanges for r180 diffs? I just assumed it would be the same on both? I'll need to go back up to Kenny and get him to swap over with the other one, that is if he hasn't thrown the old one out!! Gutted
  17. The guys in Kenny Browns confirmed that the diff is definitely on its way out. In fact he reckons its imminent. Kenny wasn't in today but I've to phone back tomorrow to discuss rebuilding it, so I may well be in touch Arch for your rear diff. You should hear the noise this thing is making - horrible!
  18. Thanks for the suggestions guys and the offer Arch. I will book it in for Kenny to take a look at it and get his opinion on the differential.
  19. Think my diff is knackered and rather than buy a second hand diff I would rather have mines reconditioned/rebuilt. Is there anyone in Glasgow, or surrounding area, that can do it? It is a R180 rear differential (4.44 ratio) with lsd as far as I am aware. It is from a type r with dccd if that makes any difference. Cheers, G
  20. Right, the diff is definately leaking. As far as I am aware there are three possible sources of my leak. 1 - the diff cover gasket 2 + 3 - the side oil seal where the drive shafts enter the diff on either side. For all the cost, I plan on replacing all of these while I'm at it. The diff cover is a piece of piss, all beit a bit fiddly. However the driveshafts seems more dificult. In the service manual I have it specifies a lot of "special tools" ie, drive shaft remover, puller assy, and drift, side oil seal protectors. Are these all necessary? Are they widely available? Are they expensive? Here are some screen shots of the procedure...
  21. Well I had the car up on the 2 poster the other day changing the brake lines and noticed that the underside of my centre diff seemed to be coated in a mixture of dirt and oil. Is it possible that the diff is leaking? Is it a common thing? I've cleaned it up and going to check it again at the weekend to see if it has re-appeared. I dont know if its just my imagination but I can hear the diff knocking and clunking a little bit, but only after I have given the car a blast. Do you think the diff is leaking fluid and is causing these noises? These noises can be heard when the diff is fully open. Its not exactly easy to check the level of the fluid and I dont have any left over to top it up with. I changed the fluid about 4/5 months ago when I bought the car.
  22. Haha I reversed in but wasnt too sure if I was going to get booted out, otherwise I would went right the way in! You local then?
  23. Cheers mate, common as muck! Thanks, big scoops are like marmite on here I guess! Yeah I love the white, always liked white on certain cars and this is one of them! Cheers.

  25. Cool wasnt sure what a typical drive train loss was for an Impreza. Know a boy with a gt4 and apparently they lose upto 100 through the drive train! Cant wait to increase the power - its addictive as hell. Was up at the time attack and thats made me want more power 10x more!
