Oh yeah, when I get the receipt in I will post the part numbers up, for future reference.

Couldnt get through to Lateral, however called up RCM and they were really helpful and sorted me out. As mines is June 1997 it could have been one of two rocker gaskets so they are sending me both and I just return the other one, save any confusion! Should be with me for the weekend so I can set about it. Its a bit embarrassing pulling into work with smoke coming out the bonnet vent! Cheers guys.

Well after disappearing for a while, it has started smoking again so going to tackle this. Theres no Subaru dealer nearby so where is best to buy the parts? So far I have seen them available at... Flat 4 Online - Are these genuine OEM parts? Also it says suitable for 1992-1996, Mines is a 1997 V4 sti type r import, will this be the right one? http://www.flat4online.co.uk/catalog/produ...r-cover-gaskets Graham Goode - Havent a clue what ones I need! Again are these OEM parts? If not better or worse? I think the part numbers I need are : GGS866 : Spark plug gasket EJ20G engine (x2) GGS867 : RH rocker cover gasket EJ20G - 9/96 (x1) - Again only mentions up till 1996 GGS1026 : Rocker Cover Bolt Seal (x6) GGS608 : Half moon seal for rocker cover (x2) GGS662 : 3 bond grey gasket sealer for sump (x1) http://www.grahamgoode.com/subaru/parts.php?group=66

Haha the videos on youtube of bedford rasals are awesome!

Ive just gone for some Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 75w90 oil for my gearbox. Going to use it in the diff aswell as it is suitable for LSD's aswell. Apparently its one of the best. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-850-silkolene-...c-gear-oil.aspx Or you could go for MOTUL Gear 300 75w90. Its the other option I was considering but heard the Silkolene was better for me as I have the DCCD. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-899-motul-gear...ster-based.aspx

I've went for the Silkolene 15w50 Pro R for the engine oil and Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 75w90 for the Gearbox and diff's. I've only ordered 5 litres of the 75w90, think that will cover it? I'm sure its 3.5litres for the gearbox and about 1 for the diff? That sound about right? Apparently the Syn 5 stuff is one of the only oils that can be used for the gearbox AND for the lsd diff. Yeah so I see. Been scanning about and just found out that the front diff is lubed using the same oil as the gearbox. Are you sure its shared by the rear diff aswell? I was under the impression it was seperate?
-
Cheers bud, Was hoping someone with a type RA or type R might have been able to help me out here or even anyone with the DCCD. Surely there must be a couple. Was going to order it today, tomorrow at the latest so I can use the opieoils extra 10% off offer but dont want to rush in and buy the wrong gear! Hacky

Right, I've been searching all through a couple of different forums and cant find a definitive answer. Giving the car a service, and I'm having trouble finding which gearbox and diff oil to use. Its for my 1997 sti type r with the DCCD. I was thinking, Engine = Silkolene Pro S 10w50 - 5 Litres Gearbox = Silkolene Silktran Syn 5 75w90 - 5 Litres Front and Rear Diff = Silkolene BOA 90 LS - 3 Litres Would that be good to go with? Some people have said just to stick the Syn 5 stuff in the diff's aswell? Didn't fancy that with the LSD though. Or would the motul stuff be the oil of choice? Cheers, Hacky

Yep, it will be the cold air. My intake temps on Saturday night were as low as 1 degree! Loved it!

Alright Gary, yeah it is googs old car. Can't believe I'd never seen it before. Was looking for a type r and was prepared to fly all over the place to view one and checked autotrader only to find there was one 3 miles away! Absolutely love it, took it a run up to glasgow last night. Rocker gasket is on its way out though, dripping a bit of oil onto the exhaust! Was going to change the oil anyway next weekend so might aswell get the gasket kit and do that at the same time. Where is the nearest Subaru dealer by the way? Going out to fix a couple of the wee daft things that have been bothering me today.

Yeah mate feel free to pop up today! Cheers, but who is the Bamboo 600? lol
-
Cheers again for all the welcomes guys! PS. White is the best colour! haha

I think its already got a hold of me! Already aiming to get a couple of goodies fitted over Christmas then back up to andy forrest for the mapping. Think I'm also going to try and get some kind of lessons on the track booked up. Completely different to anything I've driven before. I've found the back end kicks out surprisingly easily!

Cheers for the welcome.
-
Ah right, that would have been a bit of a bummer!
-
Cheers for the welcome! Always fancied a white type r, couldn't believe I found one for sale so close to home in such good condition. To be honest, I've not had a proper look under the bonnet. Planning on giving it a good service either this weekend or next. Engine oil and filter, gearbox oil and diff oil - just for piece of mind. Timing belt, pump, etc have all been done recently so I dont need to worry about that. Got recent receipts for leads and spark plugs aswell. I'll give the boost hoses a good check over but it seems to be boosting well so far, doesnt appear to be any leaks, or any obvious perishing, just monitoring the boost on the apexi power fc. Anything else I should be looking out for?

Cheers bud, Can't wait to get along to a meet. Should be at the next one.

I bought the car from a boy in Greenock. It doesn't have white wheels, has some gold subaru wheels on it. I quite fancy a set of white wheels but the gold ones don't bother me so I'd rather spend money tuning it! As I say I will post up some pictures this weekend

Alright, Just thought I would stick a post up in here since I'm new. Recently bought a White 97 Sti 4 Type R, has a couple of goodies on it, relatively low mileage and plenty of history. Haven't had a chance to take any photos but once I have I'll post up a couple. Has a couple of daft wee things that I need to fix - ****ed drivers electric window, apexi boost and oil presure gauges not hooked up, couple of interior lights not working, bulb behind the dash not working, etc. Will no doubt have a couple of questions in the tech section soon! Will try and make the next Glasgow meet, just missed it this month! Cheers, Hacky
