  1. Simple and clean ... love it mate
  2. Spark plugs and gubbed solenoid so now running boost controller and gave it a service
  3. Sorted the boost problem yet mate? Mines is finally boosting properly, its like a totally different car now. Anyway cars looking nice n shiney!!!
  4. Cheers guys, when you have replaced the covers have u ever replaced the bolts with new or just re-used the old bolts?
  5. That was the name i couldnt remember, someone had mentioned it before and couldnt for the life of me remember what it was. Next question do most motor factors stock this?
  6. Alright folks Well as part of my servicing for the impreza im going to have to replace my rocker gaskets, now the quick question i have is should i use gasket sealer when refitting the new gasket/cover and if so what is the recommended sealant? Cheers Gaz
  7. Roads are a joke, i really wouldnt mind paying so much in road tax if the roads were actually kept in a good condition. If we arent keeping our eyes on the speedo so we dont go over the speed limits with more and more speed camera units setup then its watching right in front of you to see if there are any potholes needing to be avoided ... hardly good for hazard awareness
  8. Not sure bud, hence the q lol Seen a few advertised and as im giving the car a service in next week or so thought id find out at same time
  9. Anyone use these or are they just cheap useless tat? Cheers Gaz
  10. Cheers guys, as i feared... oh well just need to renew the hacksaw blade by the looks of it, or just get braided hoses whilst im at it lol
  11. Ok decided to get a manual boost controller like: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=370163879058 Fitted it this more, took it for a small test drive to make sure everything was set ok but everytime i reach 9/10 psi i seem to be hitting fuel cut and it seems hesitant at times too once at this region, most it went to was 12 psi but this was hesitantly. Any ideas what may be causing this? Have boost solenoid still connected electrically but not piped up to actuator/turbo Cheers Gaz
  12. I thought it was weird myself, have changed a fair few struts in the past but the first time ive ever heard of something daft like this. Just couldnt be ar*ed with the wheel off jacked up then check to find out it may have been right. lol
  13. Alright guys was speaking to someone with an Impreza today that advised me that when im going to be replacing my struts that the brake flexi has to be disconnected in order to replace the strut unit due to the setup of the mounting of the flexi on the strut? Can anyone confirm this is right? Seems a bit f**ked up imo but thought id check before i start stripping half the car down to get a wee surprise
  14. Might try pop up to Hypertech on Sat then if they are open? Wont be looking to get the parts for a few weeks but like to have things planned for purchase long before the wages are there for them lol
  15. Alright guys, Things are starting to take shape with the plans i have for my Impreza and will soon be fitting my coilovers and looking into uprating the ARBs, droplinks etc. What does everyone have? how do you rate the parts and finally where is the cheapest sources of parts? Cheers Gaz
  16. ive been looking into these too, with the boost controller am i right in thinking this elimates the factory boost solenoid?
  17. Couldnt find a pipe i could connect between actuator and turbo. Check cycle and its clicking away nice and fast, quite loud too. Spare actuator fitted, no more rattling plugged back in and 7psi again
  18. thought it was indicating the actuator at fault so stopped there lol, will check the solenoid etc just now
  19. Infact i read that wrong oops lol When disconnected from actuator its boosting over 7psi no probs, pill is there (feels to be) but arm does feel loose (spare turbo is solid no play at all)
  20. Cheers Iain, appears my actuator is the problem. Now for next question i have a spare turbo with no play in shaft/actuator seems solid, should i just swap the actuator or wait and swap full unit? Currently the actuator on the car does seem to vibrate a lot and not sure if would have the same with other actuator? Cheers Gaz
  21. Cheers Iain, so is it the pipe to actuator i should disconnect to test actuator? Then look for pill and failing this?? lol Cheers Gaz
  22. Looked quickly at all the pipework (engine was hot and it was dark) and everything seemed tight and no obvious leaks. Althought on the 2 vacuum lines from the passenger side of inlet one goes to the vta dump valve and other has a bolt at end??? could this be one of the problems? All mods were done before i got the car so cant say if they were done correctly
  23. Hi guys Got my 98 uk turbo in november and had always been running 7psi (suspected faulty solenoid) so after sourcing 2 solenoids both werent same as mine (d'oh) finally got one from my model .... changed it tonight and now i seem to be getting a better response but only reaching 5 or 6 (sometimes 7psi). Any ideas what may be causing this? When i changed it i changed the plate with solenoid etc for ease (dunno if this makes a difference). Cheers Gaz
  24. Sorry thats what i meant, rather than mapping ecu merely used the boost controller to get extra power but was look for info as to if any others have just this and standard ecu and how they find it etc?
