  1. Cheers craig, was that a typo with the profile sizes as surely having different profiles will upset the rolling circumference with the larger profile constantly increasing the load on the diffs as it tries to keep up with the slightly smaller 35 profile? Obviously only relevant on 4x4's. Back in my vauxhall days I used to regularly run 15" rims to the rear and 14"s on the front to slightly tip the weight onto the constantly understeering front end. It gave no problems at all.
  2. He's another quandary for the experts, would running a different thickness of tyre to the front and rear make any great difference. For example I have a set of Innovits 7.5x18 I was wanting to run 225 x 35 x18 to the front and 245 x 35 x 18 to the rear I cant see a problem anyone else foresee one?
  3. Loving my new toy, but really looking for some more feedback, had this car since last year and I'm really struggling to get confident with it. This was typified over the weekend when the back end came round 45 degrees from a standing start without applying any pressure to the throttle and this was on a dry road. The rest of the weekend on wet roads it felt like I was on a skid pan at all speeds having to fight a constant battle. On the cobbles in Edinburgh there is a slight dull knock from the rear end. Saying that driving it tonight it felt like it would never let go. Its got to the stage where my Seat Leon feels safer in corners at all speeds than the WRX and that's only a 1.9TDI. The unpredictability is really starting to piss me off I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this type of intimitent problem and more so is it a warranty claim or am I expected to spend more money to get a confidently handling car. At present the car is 100% standard as I'm unwilling to do much which may invalidate the warranty.
  4. may be nothing, but on Christmas Eve in Edinburgh (South Bridge) about 14.00 a navy classic being driven by a boy looking about 17 caught my eye for the simple reason he was diving like a fanny with 2 other young guys in the car. Typical diving rev and dash and break hard over 30 yards while in traffic but always looking for a gap ahead, lost sight shortly after but heard the tell tale high revved acceleration when he finally got the chance to floor it. On Christmas eve you do tend to get people diving to different areas dropping things off or picking up and it might not just be Glasgow where everyone needs to be looking. I'll keep my eyes open through hear, hope you find them anyway.
