  1. Did nearly 350 miles round trip to Scoobyworld for my service! Couldn't be more thankful!
  2. Before I got my scoob, was very very tempted to get quattro s1. The car is a beast and so bare to the metal not even funny!
  3. Last night too my girlfriend to a restaurant and she insisted driving her 1L polo. Once we got to the restaurant it started to snow. When we came out it was like half an inch of snow, so being a gentleman I said I will drive. Little did I know that front wheel drive would be so much different to a awd car... First junction, I am heading in to the curb and ... smack! Now the car is pulling to the left quiet a fair ammount! Last thing I need is repair job bill... Thankfully it wasnt my scoob.
  4. Second evening in a row I am taking scoob out just gone after 10pm. Very few cars around and I live pretty much in the middle of nowhere though with street lights! Anyway, I have been practicing power slides and controlled drifts and handbrake turns, damn I am getting good at it. The more you drive the more you feel the car and the more you know what to do when you accidentally spin out or lose control. And yep driving 30 in second with just a light touch to the throtle will get you snaking nicely! I got some pics and videos but it dont look too impressive, so will not bother uploading. There is more snow to come on Friday I think, so be careful and if you have the nerve take it out but be careful. Myself I drive on summer tyres and slide like a cow on ice. But I totally agree with BM Where, you got to be safe and winter tyres all round, but then, I wont be able to slide the car as easy as I can now...
  5. I just got back from having fun in a few car parks with some cones Did a video on my camera using night vision but the quality turned out to be bloody aweful, though the grin stayes still! I just got back from Ukraine myself, spent there ten days, the bloody taxi drivers there use the handbrake to turn their daewoo's round! You could imagine my excitement when he pulled this stunt pulling in to a drive way! Yep, the nunny state does it. While I was in Kiev, -11C was standard warm day, then at night everything turned to one massive ice rink! Next morning though very icy, its like nothing happened, everything was running and running on time!
  6. Just had a look online to see what the difference is and hey presto! I think its worth a read. http://www.vredestein.nl/Onlineadvies_veel...73&FaqID=27
  7. What a day!? Took my scooby to work today down A31 which was totally snowed over so i had my chance of snaking and few drifts around the car park at work... Going to pop out later for another snow driving session! Anywone else had fun? Post your pics and videos!
  8. A very very sad news indeed. Though, what do you expect? The dumb ass environmentalist with their green ass policies shoved down our throats... Not surprised that with today's tight regulations on emissions and other pollution control nonsense there is no room left for a healthy breading program for any self respecting rally team... Just inst... Surprisingly enough... What have we been left with? Hybrids? Unfortunately, the idiots in the government failed to understand the impact of a hybrid and other "alternative" fuel vehicles on the environment. The only interest is a short term CO cuts.... Argggggg..... No one thought of long term impact... As an engineer myself having spoken to people working in automotive industry, it doesnt take long to realise that shortsightedness of the policies and regulations that force great companies and teams as Subaru, and Mitsubishi earlier to just leave WRC! Where is FIA? Aren't they supposed to aid the development and look after motor sport interests? This is unbelievable... I remember what happened to Group B rally... Audi Quattro crash with two fatalities, tightened regulations and ... few years later good buy Group B... I see a very similar pattern developing here with WRC... As sad as it sounds i think the reality is imminent... Shame on you FIA, shame on you!!! Just as greedy, just as incompetent as folks from financial institutions... What happened to Dakkar Rally? I think, as someone has pointed it out here, the reality is that we will end up with privately run teams on a very small scale, and cars... Well i think they will run on grass and cow manure... You know, i have been thinking for a while to get out of here, the policy infested country with such a great automotive heritage being utterly f**** by green hippies and their policies. We lost the plot here in this country!!! Two fingers to you tree huggers!!! I love my cars! I was sensible not to cut out the catalyst on my Quattro, you f***** had it now, its going this damn weekend!!! Dubai, here i come!!! Yes rich man with oil who share my passion for high octane fun, please accept me in to your world...! Rant out...
  9. Yeah, as I said he was very good, and I will be going back to him and do recommend him to others!
  10. Guys, I need to service my car and would like to get some help in finding a trustworthy garage that will do the job properly. I would like to run my own oil (Motul) and also want them to go that extra mile to make sure everything is tip top. So if you know of a good place, please let me know. Many thanks!
  11. I got mine from this guy few month back. Service was spot on! I mean, I was gob smacked to be honest. I dealt with a few dealers before, and he is by far the most decent guy! To the point that I will go back to him to get another scooby, and usually people dont say that. I am very happy with the car and the purchase! Personally, highly recommended. The only problem, Richard (i think thats his name) is hard to find. Well hidden... And he has an excellent STi of his own!
  12. I understand that The car is at home, I am at work and I cant really just read the numbers of it, because if I could I would not have posted this topic. I just need to order the tyres before the end of the day today, otherwise etyre people wont be able to get it fitted tomorrow... Sorry guys I am expecting a bit here, by getting someone to go read their car tyre numbers to me
  13. Guys, sorry I know this is lame, but... I need to get a set of tyres for my new WRX Its 2004 blobeye WRX. Can someone give me specs for Toyo R1's please or any other good ones. I need Width, profile, and speed rating so i can order and get them fitted tomorrow... Thanks a lot Serge PS. I am running standard alloys...
  14. Guys, what is the servicing intervals on 2003 WRX bugeye according to the manufacturer? I am going to see one this weekend and wanted to make sure that things were all good. What should I be looking out for in terms of abuse given to the vehicle? Thanks a lot! Serge
  15. Guys, what is the running cost for WRX blobeye roughly a year? Say it does about 15k a year? Putting insurance aside... My current Audi has cost me a dear, simply because I did nothing but repaired it at a garage and Audi parts are very expensive... I spend over 2k a year on maintenace plus petrol which comes to about 3k a year... So really wondering how much will WRX compared to it...
  16. Well, I guess I am going to have to look hard then How do you tell if its a facelift job or not? When was the last bugeye made? Cheers
  17. I am not a big fan of 98-00 models i am afraid... How easy is it to do oil, filter, spark plugs changes on the boxer engine? Or is it just less pain to get it serviced at the garage? And how much is usual oil change plus other bits on average? Thanks
  18. Hi, I am looking to spend no more than 6k. But it really depends on the car, however the stretch is pretty unlikely... Yeah, from the links you showed me, that is the model I am looking to go for. Ideally the blue one is mine I can see its smiling at me ) but its a little out of my price range unfortunately, otherwise its a total goer!!! Would go and pick it up tomorrow ) On the other hand I do a fair amount of driving. Do about 20k a year but predominantly, well actually all of it is motorway driving. I know this ones have mpg close to 40 if careful. What puts me off is the tax band, dont want to end up spending 500+ on yearly tax, in fact hardly want to spend more than 200 . Does anyone have any idea what to expect from the new tax? Finally, what is average running cost of the car and how is it reliability wise? Engine, mechanics, electornics? What is the weakest part? Cheers
  19. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and to Subaru family in general. I have been considering buying a WRX Impreza for a while now (Since I have driven my mates WRX Sti 2001) and I think I am ready to go ahead with a car swap... Originally I am an Audi Quattro fan, and big supporter of Group B (though its long gone) and WRC rally championships. I had my Audi 100 Quattro for about 2 and a bit years now, but I think its about a time to move on... Its a 2.3 5 cylinder AWD, a really nice car and I would hate to let it go, but i think I want something a bit more brutal. So after some though I chose Subaru over Mitsubishi Evo. I would really appreciate your help in choosing the right car... I cant affort Sti model so would love to get WRX non Sti one. I am thinking of getting 2003+ model, i.e. the one with the facelift not the one right before the hatch. I had a look on Autotrader and the ones there aren't that great and a total rip off. What are the bad points on scoobies and what should I be looking out for in my first WRX, in fact any help would be greatly received! Cheers Serge (Appologies if this is a wrong forum)
