  1. Been planning to get my engine bay cleaned up since I got the car and tonight, i thought I would check the lay of the land with respect to prepping the bay for cleaning properly with gunk next weekend... suffice to say, I got a little carried away and just checking what will need covering up to protect it from water, tuned into getting an old toothbrush, some soapy water and clearing away the worst of the grime. It's not looking bad at all to be honest but I think I'll still be doing the detailed bits with gunk next weekend. Before: After: To be honest, it was a damn sight dirtier than the before pic shows as that was taken late last year so it got a damn sight grimier in the mean time! Oooh, and if anyone knows somewhere I can get some straight stainless pipe to take the induction kit closer to the wing without it costing me £50, it would be very much appreciated! :madnoel:
  2. A plan is afoot my good man! Been holding b road auditions most of the week!
  3. Looks good! A few typos and grammatical errors in there, particularly the gathering write up but hey ho, only a little thing!
  4. Bought one for my RS a few years back now. Never fitted it though so couldn't say if it's any good to be honest. http://www.mongooseexhausts.com/mongoose/p...-Valve-33mm.htm
  5. The front, driver's side bumper isn't sitting straight so if it where me, I would be checking all the metal around there for damage, wrinkles and/or any sign of repair. He says there's no 'bleed valves' I'm guessing he means a dump valve but there is one... looks like a Bailey DV (silver bit with the blue hoses). No mention of SH??? Check the state of the oil on the dipstick, always a good check for how recently it's been serviced. (check under the cap as well). On a model this age, I would also be paying close attention to the rear arches. They don't rust as much as other cars but this is a common spot for it. TBH, the guy just doesn't seem to know a great deal about the gar so it may be completely genuine... I'm just too paranoid for my own good!
  6. It's a COLLINS Double Piston DV
  7. Welcome aboard! Best advice I can give (without knowing the year of the car) would be to make sure you take a fresh pair of pants along with you!
  8. I MAY attempt to give mine a wipe down with a bucket and sponge but even though the megs can go in wet, I'm not going to risk white streaks all over her!
  9. I had one on mine for 2hrs... may sounds awesome but bloody hell it felt sluggish after!
  10. Now im not going to the chatsworth rally, I had planned to clean mine (and the engine bay) today but no chance with this weather. Still have a caliper to finish painting up so i may have to get the brolly out!!! Bloody weather!
  11. Course its cool! As for the dash, if you cant fix it that just means you have a damned good excuse to get it flocked! :madnoel:
  12. Only one choice... another Impreza! You don't have to replace it with something better after all! Worst case though, if I had to get a ****ter, it would have to be old school, tuned and seriously loud. A mk1 capri would suit, rat rod style methinks!
  13. Double checked: Turbo models - 50k or 5yrs n/a models - 60k or 5yrs
  14. 60k or 5yrs. According to my service book anyway.
  15. ...and scratches your paintwork if the one I tried is anything to go by!!!!
  16. Would mean coming to you via Oxford as there's no BK's near me. Out with the hose for me tonight then!
  17. Waving away at me on the way home last night... even got a flash of the headlights! Don't worry Simon, I saw you mate, sorry for the delayed response, took a while to sink in! So when are you back in your scoob then? I hear plans are afoot!
  18. You going this year? I should be up there on Saturday all being well.
  19. I would go for the Werkstat Acrylic stuff on yours mate, would work brilliantly! Not cheap though: Linky!
  20. If you fancy doing mine, I'll even throw in a cuppa whilst your at it AND a milkshake with your maccy d's! Pity there's rain predicted for Fri, Sat and Sun though
  21. If it where a dark car mate, I would completely agree, dodo juice really adds depth to the colour but on a silver car the clarity is less important and the wet look of the Megs really does do the trick! Saying that, it depends on how far you want to get into it all. If the car is SUPER clean then for any light metallic paint I would go for Collinite 476S every time... I'm just too lazy to get mine that clean beforehand!
  22. Megs all the way, the Tech Wax range is fantastic, especially on lighter cars. Like Andy though, I've had a dabble with the Turtle Wax Ice stuff and although not as good as the Megs clay bar, their Liquid Ice clay bar is damned good for a pre-polish deep wash, well worth a go imho! Have fun and make sure you show us the results Sunday!
  23. My wheels need a serious clean but here you go... Front: Back:
  24. Today was the day i planned to do my brakes (discs and pads all round) but if it werent for big D i think i would still be struggling with the first set. Insead they all on and waiting for the second coat of caliper paint! Thank you again mate, you're a bloody legend!!!
  25. Aaah, I see! Sorry, my point was this: The club had to start somewhere and although I have to idea what outlay phil et al have nowdays [and i really wouldn't like to guess] but what I do know is that it isn't cheap to start up a forum AND keep it running as long as this one has been let alone attend all the shows, produce the magazine etc etc etc. I am in no way insinuating that the club is in trouble only that, as phil has already pointed out in the thread in general, "This site is not funded on fresh air" That aside, I think we've got our wires crossed somewhere as I do actually agree with what you're saying, particularly your last point about discounts!
