  1. Just posting to say thanks to Alistair Dinnis at Trackhound tuning, he mapped my hawk eye this morning. The mapping process is really interesting and he explains everything in an easy to understand way, taking his time to get everything just right. The car feels much more alive through the revs now, running 1.4 bar with 350ish BHP... :occasion14: Thanks for a great morning, the drive home wasn't bad either. ;)

Hi Alastair thanks for the feedback and great to hear you are happy with the car.

    All the best

    Alistair

Hi Kenny the 321T on a forged 2.5 is a formidable combination but will kill you 5 speeder pretty quickly from the torque (been there done that with a 20g on a 2.5). I'd recommend a 6 speed conversion if you are aiming for anything over 400lbft of torque.

    Cheers

  3. is there any difference between the uk supplied and the us supplied 2.5 sti block , even with delivery its still about £ 700 cheaper from the us . next question, the block is a 2002 -2006 why are these blocks so damagable is it through to much powewr going through them or very hard driving or are the internals just garbage

    thanks for any answers

    kenny

Hi Kenny - both have the notoriously fragile EJ257 OEM pistons. Rods seem to be ok to 450 and casing up to the 450 - 500 mark. After that the risk of liners cracking/moving increases without the block being strengthened with inserts around the liners. I'd suggest a 257 short motor with forged pistons for your application for peace of mind. Suggest speaking with Steve at SW Motorport who usually has a set of 257 casing and rods/crank etc kicking about looking for a good home. I'd also suggest getting the chambers in your 2L heads modified to suit the larger 99.5mm bore (generally allows you to run more timing). Steve can do this too and does a first class job.

    Cheers

  4. Alistair mapped my 300 and I can't speak highly enough of the guys work, my car even passed its emmisions tests yesterday during its MOT with no cats fitted all due to Alistairs work.

Well recommended you wont be disappointed.

    Thanks for the feedback Alan.

Ballistic - FFS and LC are available for the 06-08 Sti but switchable boost is not currently via the software I use.

  5. Hi

    Thanks for the feedback John.

Spaceman/Grant - Launch Control and Flat Foot Shifting are available on the UK hawkeye STi with the software platform I use but switchable boost is not currently.

    Cheers

  6. Makes a big difference and in my opinion should be the first one to remove. When you remove it there is an EGT sensor there which needs to be removed. Unplug the sensor from the loom and put a 2.2k ohm resistor across the plug on the car side. This fools the ECU into thinking the sensor is still fitted by sending a signal proportional to an average EGT, this stops you getting the associated cel light.

It is also possible to permanently disable the corresponding diagnostic trouble code on the ECU when you get the car mapped ;)

    Cheers

  7. I've just had my car done today by Alistair at Trackhound Tuning, fantastic difference in my car and well recommended. Car feels totally different now.

Thanks Alan - that is the most immaculate UK300 I have ever seen! ;)
