About newtoscoobs

  1. Hi mate, just thought id mention mine as it is a really good reliable car with tracker monitor (the best) and clifford alarm already on.. bit more than the 3k you were looking at but thought i'd throw it in to the equasion. only selling as i have 3 kids and another due in may so its 7 seater time for me! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/445902.htm good luck whatever you do but a scooby is definately the way forward!!! Ben
  2. anyone got an sti rad cap (1.1 or 1.3 ) they want to sell? mine is leaking pressure causing all my coolant to go into the expansion tank.. cheers, Ben
  3. i have this guy down as one of my "favourite sellers".. he regularly has cars for sale and spends HOURS doing the ads, makes every ad make the car sound more appealing than spending the night with his wife and 3 daughters, but comes up with some interesting cars none the less.. anyway, would have been nice to nick it for a grand ay? lol
  4. Saw this on ebay with the SIDC sticker in the window and thought it might be of interest to someone? Ben. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:B:FSEL:GB:1123
  5. defo not an airlock but now think it may be header tank cap as a) noticed it was a nissan one and if the spring wasnt strong enough, it would always open when pressurised allowing water to the expansion tank. will let u know.. thanks for yr time mate.
  6. cant find my thermostat... can anyone tell me or even better post a pic?... thanks acain guys.
  7. hi guys (and gals) my scoob has been losing water..although it doesnt overheat. i know when its time to top up as in-car heater turns cold. there are no obvious signs of where it is going apart from coming out the tube on the expansion tank. i have taken the tank out from the inner wing, no cracks or holes so put it back. No water in oil, or oil in water and no bubbles in expansion either and runs fine so ruling out head gasket.. i took rad out (which is fairly new) and run jet wash through both top and bottom pipes and it sprayed out other end fine. i took off pipes to heater matrix and ran hose through those both sides with no blockages, and with rad out ran hose throgh every open pipe ,again there were no obvious problems. when i have the car warm (not hot), take off header tank lid it overflows, then suddenly wooshes down and you have to fill up again with about 1.5 l of water and does th same again..when you rev it it overflows and then settles the big fat pipe on drivers side front next to timing belt always seems empty untill you squeeze it a few times and slowly starts to fill up. did all that again today.. filled up, let water go down and continued filling untill level seemed right and was revving at about 2000rpm and seemed to get good circulation but back at home could see water had been coming out of expansion tank hose again... bit of weird symptoms but any ideas?..could it be an airlock or even the cap on the header tank?think they are designed to let out pressure. any comments would be appreciated as its beggining to wind me up..even took my astra diesel to the shops because it was winding me up and that cant be a good thing!! cheers guys
  8. on some cars the code is written on the top on a sticker.. take the set out and have a peek, it might be on there..
  9. dont forget guys you can get an aftermarket one from halfrauds or off e-bay(about 15 quid). you can set up the boost to how you like it too.. my mate did it to his and said its much better.. he said some days his car felt quick, some days not as but since putting on his new valve its leveled it all out, and now it feels quick all the time and had no probs.. was going to do mine but standard one is fine at the mo so if it aint broke.... also you can test the clicking to check if it is that by joining the two green plugs under the dash,, that pulses all solenoids, yr fans should come on etc... hope this helps.. Ben
  10. guys (and gals) what bhp is my scoob? its a 93 wrx import..as far as i know its standard apart from exhaust, filter etc Also, i want to tweak it slightly for pennies.. either adjust actuator or get adjustable boost control valve or chip? whats best? after sorting my coil packs get a nice smooth powerband all the way through the revs running at 12psi.. is it worth turning up and IS IT SAFE? could do with your comments and suggestions.. thanks peeps.. oh and whens the next meet nearest croydon? me (and my 7 yr old boy ) are well up for coming to a "scooby fest " lol
  11. ****... mines due too... might have to bung mr m.o.t a drink
  12. someone said to me if it is an import, the emmisions test doesnt count.. anyone know if this is true?
  13. have you tried resetting the ecu? i found some pages on here on how to do it...as for the hesitation, i had same but worse and changed coil packs and plugs.. might be either/or? Ben
  14. sounds roughly ok then... thanks for all yr comments..and from now on..99 ron only! thanks guys.
  15. yes it is approx 110p for super... what can i do to improve the economy and why would it be so thirsty in the first place... should i rolling road it and have it set up to make sure mixtures are ok? thanks again
