Maybe it's due to the fact i'm used to my bugeye waking the dead when driving it.
-
Yeah it does fly through the gears. Can anyone recommend a reasonably price back box as the jap-box that's on is a bit quiet for me.
-
Followed this missus home (she was in the Bugeye Sti)and i would say it feels quicker all round -just got to remember there's no 6 th gear like the bug.....
-
Aye Dunk ,picked it up there, the guy i bought it from swapped it with his neighbour for a motocross bike (also got a 2008 M3 and his brothers got a brand new Skyline)Daniel Grove was the guy who swapped the type ra for a bike - silly boy!!!
-
Cheers for the info/advice Jodie type ra, i've already registered on the type ra website, just need to give the car a wash/tidy up in the next couple of days before posting pics/etc First impressions - feckin rapid !!!! Had a good run home from Cruden bay along some nice windy roads, but really need to sort out the brakes ; they're sh**e..

Cheers for all the comments Guys can't wait to pick her up tomorrow. Regarding the Zero sport ECU and CEL ,phoned the guy today and the car has run fine with this Ecu for the last 5k on 99 ron fuel (since bottom end was done)and the CEL light was due to 2 wires (black/red) being joined together under the steering column(must be wires instead of connectors for checking fault codes) so the guy seperated the wires and the CEL lights goes of once car is started. Spoke to someone at Wallaceperformance this morning and car going on the rollers next wednesday -should be interesting.
-
Cheers for the info,i'm a bit worried now that there might be something up...
-
Can anyone shed some light on this; The Zero sport ECU is giving the car a CEL Light -but the guy said this is due to the change of ECU's.-the car seems to run fine. How do i read the codes, plug the two connectors together under the steering column? Can i go to the likes of Wallaceperformance in Aberdeen or Japperfermonce in Ellon to get the car checked out? Or would i be better sourcing a standard Tyre RA Ecu??
-
Aye tell ma aboot it wayne, but the bugeye might be going next year for something more economical...... But that's a while away yet.
-
How do i go about getting it checked out as i'm not really clued up in ECU's etc?
-
Anyone know of some 4 pots /discs and a rear brake set-up going cheaply? Also does anyone know anything about the 'Zero sport ECU'
-
Cheers RA Dunk - i can remember reading a few people saying that 16" are better for track days.
-
Cheers RA Dunk but i'm thinking of 4 pots and keeping the 16" wheels that's on it for now.
-
No plans to strip it yet Rich, need to upgrade the brakes and some suspension tweeks. It running at 1.2 bar at the moment ,seems quick enough for a start but i dare say the mods will come.
-
Have been thinking about getting a track car for a while as i've watch a few video's of some guys on here at Knockhill and it looks brilliant so headed off today to look at one and couldn't say 'NO'............ Pick it up Wednesday, here's the link will post up spec/pics once i get her home. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1125324.htm

Happy '35'th birthday Barry - Let me quess your presents will be bits for your already mint looking Bugeye.
-
Loving the fins Barry ,not so sure about the air-intakes though.Where did you buy the fins and what are they like to put on -was thinking of these myself as i'm fed up watching my spoiler flap up/down when driving.
-
Cheers Rich, thought i'd give it a go and if i got stuck would have to resort to asking my local garage as well.
-
Look good, but personally would have went for some gunmetal or black ones.Nice looking classic all the same
-
Nice looking classic -look forward to reading more about your mods etc in the future.

G.Mac, My pads and discs didn't look too bad on the outside ,it was the inside that was bad as shown in the pics. It's hard too see this due to the dust guard and caliper covering the inside of the disc. Thanks for the comment

After my last service was advised to change the front & back discs so put the scoob into the local garage a month or so ago and got the front ones replaced (standard discs/pads),after looking what i paid to get them fitted decided to fit the back ones myself (the arrived yesterday)So here's a few pics and a rundown on how i did it incase anyone is interested or plannig to try changing them. Firstly jacked up the car and removed the rear wheels Removed the lid from the brake fluid resevoir and placed a cloth over it. Removed the 2 x R-clips from the pins that hold the pads in. Took out the 2 x pad holding pins and metal plate that sits on top of pads/caliper Removed the pads/anti squeal shims. Used a 17mm (if i remember correctly)socket and torque wrench to take off the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on and rested the caliper on the arm /anti-roll bar **To remove the Disc i did the following; On the back of the wheel hub /plate there's a rubber gromit, remove it and this reveals a little adjusting screw with small lugs on it,use a screwdriver and turn it downwards to adjust the brakes shoes and keep them clear of the disc rotor inside, I then used 2 x small bolts (ones i had lying around) and screwed them into the two jacking holes on the front of the disc and slowly jacked the disc off.(this took a bit of time as i'd never done it before and was scared i broke something) Pull the disc off Clean everything up, inspect and work the pistons a few times. Fit disc and mount caliper (i read on another site that the 2 x bolts for securing the caliper should be torqued to 75 Nm -so i did) Grease up back of new discs and anti -squeal shims and slide into caliper, Fit pins/plate and R-clips. Re-fit wheels Once you've done both then put on the cap for the brake fluid resevoir and adjust the brake shoe screws to suit the new discs/rotors. This is a basic run down ,might have missed a couple things out but will give anyone who hasn't done this before an idea. Here's the new Discs/pads fitted Here's my old ones - well fecked ! To do this took approx 15 fags and 2 cups of coffee but still alot cheaper than a garage
