Hi, Can anyone recommend a garage in the South West for panel spraying and paint matching. My bumpers and rear quarter panel are in need of some tlc? Thanks

Always best to change it like already mentioned...just for the peace of mind. Did my 120,000 mile '99 Turbo 2000 (1.4 bar boost with supporting mods) a few months ago and the tensioner didn't seem too bad but I replaced it anyway as you just don't know when it was replaced last. I had more trouble with the other pulleys which were really rough if you spun them up by hand, I ended up replacing all of them except one, but this was on a quite a high mileage engine.

You never know, I was on my way to get some new hoops in Taunton and tried a short cut, I never expected things to be so white and slippy. Hope you have a great weekend, you're quite close to Watermeet there so it may be worth a visit to see the river raging down the Gorge.

Very near to Porlock hill, just over a bit on top of Dunkery Beacon. I struggled to get up there, if it had been Porlock hill the car would probably be in a pile at the bottom. Wouldn't mind one but a bit pricey for my pocket, the new R1 looks like more my cup of tea.

Thanks, it's coming along. Just got rid of the awful Durun tyres that were fitted, they tramlined all over the shop. I tried higher pressures, lower pressures, different camber, toe but it only ever marginally improved things. 4 GoodYear F1 Eagles later the car is transformed, my own fault for being cheap in the first place.

Was a bit chilly on Exmoor this morning.......at least the ponies picked the right time to cross the road.

My 99 Turbo 2000 running 1.4 bar generally peaks at around 20 running shell v and octane booster, I'm told the later classic engines were a bit 'quieter' knock wise to the earlier ones. The highest I've seen is 39 but I think I sucked a bit of water into the intake to hit that. I used a knock link for a while but even on it's most sensitive setting it didn't ever go more than low amber.

I know, I know....there like hens teeth, but if anyone has some I have cash waiting. My classic requires more BHP. Thanks to all.

I think he leaves the exhaust housing still bolted to the up pipe, removes the downpipe and then splits the body of the turbo in half. ..clever. I've had a bash at rebuilding my turbo (I even tried modifying a TD05 16g to an 18g with some success) but I've always removed the unit from the car.

Slightly different tack, but just bought a GSXR1000 K4 and it puts my Scoob (350ish hp) acceleration into perspective. Different world, but still love the Scoob.
-
Do you know what sort of Hp it ran, I know the Spitfire engine (Merlin?) changed a bit through it's life. When I was younger I went to Silverstone to see some vintage racing and they had an aero engined Bentley which (I think) was around 24 litres and that was a monster (but that was pre-war?). It was as long as a bus and wasn't much for the corners but you should of seen it down the straights!!! Nothing else stood a chance!!

Heard a rumour that someone once stuck a RR Spitfire engine in a roller, almost as mad as that helicopter turbine bike thingy.

Yer, have followed a Cayenne (turbo) and it didn't seem that fast. Also compared it to a 911 (basic) and that didn't seem that much quicker either. My turbo 2000 is running somewhere around 350, lag isn't great but it's pretty quick, and i do have a GSXR1000 for comparison.

U sure it's mechanical? Not just a blown MAF?

Still time to make this?

Just removed my 99 Turbo 2000 rails, Granby was an inspiration! Never liked the bl**dy things but thought it was too much hassle. It's a bit fiddly but there's no need to remove the headliner just a few bits of trim. Just need to order the weather strips now. The car does look better afterwards.
-
How much did Subaru charge you for the new roof weather strips?
-
50 sound iffy, my 99 turbo 2000 did 145 psi on all cylinders( after 120,000 miles). Might be worth rechecking as maybe you got a bad seal on that cylinder with the gauge?

Mmmm!, I was under the impression alcohol was created to help disadvantaged women to get such things in the first place??
-
Very true, but after owning an Alfa for a couple of years I couldn't go through all that hassle again.
-
Me too, but they're all left hand drive and the electrics are supposed to be a nightmare!

I have one off a 99 classic.

Apexi should cost around £500 and are a doddle to fit yourself (will probably need to swap the cam and crank sensor wiring-easy crimp job). I am in Somerset so for mapping I just met up with Simon from Jolly Green Monster at a service station near Bristol and he mapped it on the road for around £300. I think the Subaru factory ecu's throw error codes far too readily and when you really have a problem they don't tell you. Far more happy since I got an Apexi.
