About theunclebill

  1. Hello and Welcome! Likewise I will be getting my membership sorted next month as having to save for snowboarding at the beginning of Feb! Will also get some pics sorted too, one hopes!
  2. Very nice mate, I have had mine just over a week now and I love it!! Don't know what you Scooby drove before but you won't be disappointed! Pretty much identical to mine but mine has a few Prodrive decals on the front wings and some White STI decals on the back wings. The fun factor is Tres Grande!
  3. I'll add my penny's worth..... 1. "Fan Drivers" - Those that drove so far up your a*** expected you to bomb around and race them just because you are in a Scooby!! Normally in some half fibrglass corsa! 2. Those that close the gap that you were going to safely drop into when over-taking without any bother but you then have to force your way in or drop it down and go for the next gap! Normally some irratte looking old man who glares at you as if asking Why did you overtake anyway?? because I can! 3. Those who bomb around town with no regard for the fact that pedestrians exist or that the speed limit is not 90 in urban areas!! 3a. Drivers not used to our Higway Code or level of common courtesy on the road.... normally with CZ on the plate!
  4. and I quote: "on major and minor roads drivers struggled to cope..." cue Drifting scooby... brilliant. He's not struggling he's playing to the cameras and loving it. Rest assured his trip was "non-essential"!
  5. Sorted it... and edited my post but I was too slow to cover up my ineptitude!
  6. Definately be up for that. Look forward to speaking to you closer to the time. Have booked a room on the friday night at the Premier Inn, for anyone else interested the link is available via the official event website: www.mcrae-gathering.co.uk Keep me informed. Cheers.
  7. Thanks for all those pointers guys, got an appointment with the dealer later, nice to be armed with info! Cheers
  8. Just noticed a knocking on the nearside rear. It only happens at very low speeds and sounds like a shock going or suspension bush. The car is an 05 STI UK (Similar shape to the red one in the banner... blob/Slant eye? - Still newbie does it show?) It has done 21,000 miles. Is this sort of wear normal on the suspension for the mileage? And also without getting costs what sort of amounts are we talking for a new bush, fitted? The shock I think is fine as isn't the slightest bit bouncy yet. Ta and ciao bello!
  9. Nice motor, and welcome to the forums. Can't wait to have a go with mine in snow!
  10. I will be travelling up from Liverpool on the Friday to do the Full run from Lanark and staying in Banbury on the Saturday If there is anyone passing up the M6 on the way and want to meet up give me a shout. I think this is a fantastic tribute to a modern legend.
  11. Thanks for the responses... makes me feel loved! Thanks for the tip about the rain and the white lines... already experienced that!! How gracefully we skip across the road! Thanks for the tips from Mother_Teressa, the dealer I picked it up from told me about the waving thing which is great, I had Civic Type R drivers do a similar thing ... I am hoping the Scooby crowd will be more pleasant, and enthusiastic. The whole turbo warm up and cool down thing is something I am used to and enjoy doing it gives you a chance to relax before stopping to! I am moving to Liverpool shortly and the guys at work have given me a month until it gets nicked.... is this highly likely given the tracker and alarm/locking system etc or are they just mocking??? (Will be investing in a Steering Lock too!!)
  12. I never been a fan of fuel additives and would not recommend them. I have heard they have no effect on performance and if you are using high octane brands such as vPower (Why would you use anything else?!) then they can actually reduce power by up to 5% in some cases. As for the cleaning aspect of it my understanding is that a premium fuel will do this for you anyway! In conclusion.. I believe them to be a big marketing con... REDEX feel free to issue a sustantiated statement!! Feel free to try them but be warned your scooby may never be the same again!
  13. It is the slant eye one, similar to the red one in the SIDC banner at the top. Will wait for the rain to stop before grabbing some photos I feel!!
  14. Morning all, Thought I would take a few minutes out to say hi to all and get involved, I picked up my first Scooby yesterday and clocked up 200 miles (1 tank of fuel) visiting people in it!! Got my self a classic, electric blue with the gold alloys (Possibly not the most technical description ever!!), STI UK 05 plate with the Prodrive kit on it. Have to say going from tuned Octy VRS (235 bhp to the front wheels and weighing a tonne.... made for some interesing understeer!!) to possibly the finest piece of engineering I have been party to experiencing gives me a mammoth grin!! I will stick some photos up at some point once I stay still long enough! I would be grateful if any users have any tips for a first time scooby owner??? Apart from the obvious... treat her with the respect she deserves!! There are various pump noises and whines when she is ticking over and when she drops off boost around 2000 rpm. Also at slower speeds the diff gives a little bit of tempramental resistance, nothing too extreme but just a few things I need to get used to. I think I will go to a meet and chat to like minded people. I am up in Liverpool so North Wales or NW meets will be an option! Heres me waving off and looking forward to more vocal / textual intercourse in the future!!
