  1. I have always fancied an XJS, but what with young kids and a lack of time and funds (i have an Impreza STI that eats tyres, brakes and V-Power for fun as my daily driver for 20k a year !)and haven't been able to stretch to it Anyway one friday back in Feb after a thursday night out i was presented with the best hangover cure ever, a burgundy XJS my wife bought unseen from the fleabay classifieds for a 3 figure sum it had been sitting in a barn for 2-3 years so was a bit of a punt ! So first things first MOT time a bit of gaffer taper a few bolts and bulbs and 2 new tyres and at 15in they won't be expensive.....wrong its a Jag only size that only Pirelli supply so £125 each plus fitting !! anyhoo we now have a MOT certificate On driving back from the test centre not soo good, smoke pouring out from the rear of the car, after a bit of investigation i realise its the rear brakes/handbrake, that can't be bad ........doh its a 1990 XJS that has 'inboard' rear brakes which means you have to remove the rear subframe So it has spent a few weeks with Sabre vehicle services (nee kent performance)had a full service and the rear disc's/calipers/pads/cables replaced, i plan to maintain it myself from now on but am a bit of a novice and thought it would be better for someone who knows what they are doing to give it the first once over Have been tinkering a bit as well sorted out the central locking as it was seized bit of WD40 ! few new fuses and we now have radio and lights, the headlining needs doing as does the seat bolster on the drivers side, paint needs some work in place's and the nsr arch needs attention (going to have a go at this myself)apart from that there is very little rust , the windows have a mind of their own, think they need new motors so looks like a low cost fix, So i finally got to drive it over the weekend, 120 miles to be exact (didn't miss a beat Craig) and wow what a great piece of kit completely different to anything i have driven before, it really is smoother than a babies bot ! bit of difference to the STI in all but its drink problem, £40 = 1/4 of a tank Oh and its the 3.6 I6 engine not quick but has about 260lb/ft so it rows along nicely enough Anyway here is a pic or 2 ! before any cosmetic work has taken place Full album here http://public.fotki.com/FATTB/jaguar-01/ Tony
  2. Thank you
  3. Hi all Thought I would put this in the KS section of the forum as I couldn't find a general sale section and it's pick up only so it would be better placed here (mods feel free to move if not) For sale is my first a/v amp that has served me well over the last 3 years, Its a Yamaha dsp-ax759se and comes with the original box, instructions, remote and set up mic, the amp itself is in great and the remote is in full working order the only drawback is it has (the remote !) a couple of light scratches I have enclosed a link to the superfi description, it does say it can handle HDTV however do not confuse this with hdmi upscaling etc I have seen these go for £125-£160 + p&p (around £20 ish) on eBay, bear in mind it weighs 18kg, I would be happy to let it go for something around the lower figure (collect from Ditton) http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/mo...Product_ID/2861 will post up some pics when I get home ad the iPhone is taking an eternity to upload
  4. Not sure about the discount but i got craig at Sabre Vehicle services (nee Kent performance)to do mine i can't remember the exact numbers but it was a good £200 cheaper (mine needed tensioners), I spoke to dean during the week who is up and running (well not literally ) again... although he is off on Hols in a few weeks
  5. Could also be the top mounts, i had this recently, Craig at Kent performance sorted it for me
  6. I noticed this as well, and spoke to Bob Rawle about it, the way he explained it was that the ECU goes into an emissions mode, and pulls back the boost ....well actually he explained it in far more detail than that, but for a simpleton like me i think that was the nuts and bolts of it...the fix was a bit of wide open throttle !!!
  7. Don't forget to see how fast it will go in reverse
  8. Ask them for an Astravan fastest machinery this side of a Veyron
  9. Thanks for the replies guys I don't wan't to lead anyone astray here, but i am going to put the sale on hold for a few weeks as it may (finger x'd) not need to be sold, if it does in a few weeks time then so be it Regards Tony
  10. Hi All Due to an unforeseen change in my circumstances, i may need to sell my car shortly and maybe quickly (this dosenn't mean i will let it go for a song!), but it may well be cheaper than most others out there The Car 05 WRX STI type UK with PPP I bought the car in 2007 from a Main dealer in Coventry (Cartwirghts) with 5k on it and was registered in Jul 05, i , it now has just shy of 55k on it i commute from Aylesford to London most days and it has never let me down, I would say the condition is good (apart from the normal Subaru paint chips on the front! ) and there is a few minor kerb marks on two of the wheels The tax runs out end of Jan and has 10 and a bit months of mot left, It has been serviced by Cartwrights and Walddonway up to the 40k mark and had its 50k service inc cambelt done by Craig at Kent performance, Since the 20k mark i have changed the oil every 5 using Silk Pro-S (all done at Waldonway), rear shocks shave been replaced, and in Jul 08 it had the 4th gear synchro replaced under warranty, whilst they had the gearbox out i also replaced the cltuch and flywheel (didn't have to pay any labour ) Other bits over the PPP include Green cotton panel filter no more than 5k old, Godspeed front disks and Ferrodo DS2500 front pads (50% worn according to Craig), Prodrive geo set=up using Eibach camber bolts, Goodyear Asymetrico tyres, remapped by Bob Rawle making 336bhp and 340 lb/ft according to his Delta Dash I appreciate this is not the for sale section, but i am trying to gauge a bit of local enthusiast interest Regards a rather gutted Tony
  11. That was me on my way home from work Nice RB
  12. I used Craig at Kent performance to do my cambelt this week very good service indeed, I also used Dean in the past also v.good, Used to be a bit of a main dealer snob, but with now the main dealer won't be seeing my car again
  13. Thanks to Craig, for doing my 50k service and cambelt, and those few little pieces Subaru had missed off on previous services Very courteous and kind to my idiotic questioning
  14. Spotted Shiralees car at Kai today, don't worry it'll soon be back together
  15. Bob mapped my car, but then i didn't know you were so close then (No disrespect Bob) Do you do diagnostics as well Simon as i feel i am have lost a bit of power just recently
  16. Hmm feels like its giving a bit more than 0.5 bar but then i don't have a boost gauge , it just feels like its giving abit less than PPP did prior to Ecutek, I have checked and switched maps to make sure I'm not in the low boost map Thanks for replying
  17. Evening Guys n Gals Been feeling my Scoob's not been running that well just recently, just feels its not been giving full boost, Its UK 05 STi with PPP and Ecutek the only other mod is an STI panel filter which is about 5k old and have been using them for the last 20k, always serviced on time oil changed every 5k etc etc Anyway was out having a little play tonight (private land of course) when i came across a 328i (shape before E46) and for the life of me i couldn't get away from him, i pulled into a petrol station and had a chat with the guy he said he'd done a few mods, but i guess you can't really do that much with a n/a BMW and if he'd gone done the FI route it would of simply left me for dead, maybe it was badged 328i but was an M3 evo Anyhow i got back home and me not being a mechanically minded in anyway thought i would have a look under the bonnet, i checked the maf first which seemed clean (i did clean it a while back with a cotton wool bud not the best i know) then i checked pipes and hoses, I don't really know what does what, but I have done a diagram with kids writing ! #1 Don't know what this pipe does but it was on fully yet popped off and on very easily #2 Again don't know what this pipe does it was about 8mm off its seat underneath, but was definately not completely off #3 the pipe leading to the DV was fully on but it was easy to pull off and put back on again #4 had a small boost leak here before but was cured Any thoughts ? faulty maf, maybe caused by me cleaning it (although the car ran fine after this) Rather not go to a garage as money is tight, but if anyone has any obvious thoughts i would be pleased to hear them Regards Tony

  23. A few months ago the near side rear shock went, the symptoms were a knocking sound when going over uneven surfaces, a general soggyness from that side when cornering although not that bad, and it just felt uneven Fortunately that was replaced under warranty, however the off side is now having the same symptoms and the car is out of warranty FWIW its a MY05 STI UK car with @ 40k on the clock Tony
  24. The shocks on my 05 STi need replacing, and i was wondering if any of you Local guys knew of any good garages (i'm in Aylesford btw) that would stock and fit a pair of KYB ultra's The best i have had is £443 + a £90 odd quid alignment from Elite in Rainham Thanks Tony
