Yet again I'm going to be a right pain in the ###### and ask if anyone was going from the renfrewshire area, could I possibly hop aboard an Impreza. Still scoobie-less due to the crash, infact still completely carless. I would really appreciate anyones genorousity, as I wouldnt be able to live with myself if I missed this!

Well ive only one thing to say...IF YOU DONT BUY IT, I WILL. ITS A CRACKER!!
-
Jus 2 things about next sunday . is there some sort of dress code or do we just wear what we want and will we be able to get all the Scoobs togeather in one place or do we just fend for our selfs ooh and are we having a cruise about .
Prob all silly questions me thinks
Im gonna be wearing a long sleeve balck T-Shirt as a sign of respect, and my bottom half will be wearing a kilt to celebrate the scottishness of it all (if thats even a word). Otherwise, I would say wearing anything would be suffice but a black armband wouldnt go a miss...

Can't help you with advice from a mechanics/garage PoV, but what I will say is that at 22yo you still have in excess of 40 years of working life ahead of you, so personally I wouldn't worry about swapping careers at your point of life. It might be harder to get the initial job but once you have the slightest bit of experience you'll be no different from anyone else your age.
I was about a year or two older than you when I shifted from a career I was trained and qualified in, to a career in a job I had little/no experience and absolutely no qualifications for. Was the best move I ever made from both a personal and finacial PoV. Regardless whether the money was better or not it was still the best move I ever made as, IMO, you can't put a price on liking going to your job in the morning compared to waking up and hating every minute of it.
End of the day, as a trained mechanic (esp if you get qualified for MOT's, etc) you can always open your own garage and be your own boss.
Thanks for that bit of reassurance, I was starting to panic a bit. Felt like I was 22 going on 75 for a while. Ive had a few things on the cards lately, finally got round to applying for my Class C+E licenses so if all else fails I have something to lean back on that pays good money. Guess I'll just need to keep making calls and writing letters.
Thanks again

hi
im wondering if anybody knows of somewhere i can get my wifes meganes cylinder head exchanged as her one is dead after the belt snapped
cheers
neil
These guys exchange gaskets. Might find a company closer, but they did a great turnaround on mine once I'd sent it away. Mine was megane as well, cant remember for the life of me how much I paid though. Just a thought.

Hi Guys,
Bit of a strange thread I know, but needed a bit of advice on this one. Recently ive been thinking of a change of career, at the moment I'm working as a Steward for a popular Glasgow nightclub, trained as an I.T Consultant but its really not where my heart is. I was thinking of going into training as a mechanic as it really was what I wanted to do, but never took the plunge.
Here's my dilemma
Im 22 years old, and apparently every garage in the WORLD wont seem to touch me with a barge pole due to my age. The only other option is going to College, but it could take me easily over 5 years before I set foot in a garage. Does anyone have any idea as to what else I can do, or possibly know anyone who would like more of a "mature" apprentice to work with them. Any help would be much appreciated, as Im at my wits end.
I felt asking a motoring community, possibly someone may be able to help or point me in the right direction.

Sounds like an great idea. Was having a think there, more along the lines as to what we can wear to show as a sign of respect. Black armbands?
-
Incase anyone logs onto Bebo, ive made a small page for the memory of the great man.
-
A truly outstanding talent ever to get behind the wheel of a car,you will be sadly missed, my thoughts go out to his family.
Sorry i could not make it to Lanark as i was up in Blairgowrie all weekend.
Stevie
I felt nothing but pride when I ficked onto Sky News and watched a parade of Subaru driving up the hill near McRaes home. Well done guys, it brought more than a tear to my eye. Has ayone seen this freakishly chilling news...

Couple of options for you
Head for the Lanark market in your own car and hitch aride from there in a Scoob or post up your location and hope someone local can swing by to collect you. Option A has the greatest chance of success in my opinion, hope to see you tomorrow
Unfortunately carless at the moment due to the smash. Im in Barrhead, just outside Paisley so if anyone is feeling generous then please drop me a line on 07970574582. I live right next to the train station. Thanks in advance. I would really like to be part of this.

Unfotunately many News websites are confirming that Colin has indeed died, along with a son and others. To say im devestated is an understatement. Im sitting typing with a tear in my eye for not only a hero for our nation, one of the greatest men of our rallying decade but for his family who has now lost a son, a grandson and a husband. My heart goes out, and any sort of public tribute will surely be attended by myself. This fellow Scotsman is the sole reason why I owned a Subaru, watching him as a young lad made me so envious yet excited as to how someone could have such skill. Unreplaceable...

Friday afternoon, leaving the Xscape complex. Look BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUTIFUL! The Welsho?!
-
Ive got a bonnet and headlights in that same colour you can have for £50 mate, also got a set of foglights I'll throw in.
-
Im really good friends with the guys that owns that bodyshops niece. If you need anything let me know pal.
-
It just makes me laugh. The police said I must have been racing them, but If I were racing them in an Subaru Impreza...on a straight road...against a Saxo VTR with 5 people in it, how did they have time to slow down, make a U-TURN in a junction and come straight back out and HIT ME?!?!? Pathetic, makes me sick!
-
Thats what I said, the Police did say that the charge will never stand as the witnesses are biased bit due to the accusations and situation they felt the need to caution me pending charges. ****ing joke, absolutely devestated. My while life has had to change because of these ******** and now i'm being accused of dangerous driving. Strange how Im at home, and he's on the run. All I can say is that he better keep running...
-
I was doing between 50 & 70 at the time of the crash. To say i'm devestated at seeing the car today would be a complete understatement, I think Im still in shock tbh. CD player is missing, subs from the boot are gone, £300 worth of Autoglym is gone even my Security tshirts I use for work (im a bouncer) are missing.
The part that has angred me the most out of everything, is the fact the Police arrived at my house this morning and charged ME with dangerous driving as the 2 girls that were in the back of the Saxo told the Police that I had been flashing my lights, tooting the horn and screamed profanity at them as the overtook. Hilarious considering they overtook me doing around 110. The only swear words that came out my mouth, came as I was battered off of 2 trees and a telegraph pole.
The moral IS! Police are USELESS!
-
Police know who he is, but dont know where he's gone. Is in my best interests to get the car outta the yard, incase he doesnt have insurance and I need to cough up the cash for storage.
-
Well here it is...
If anyone has a yard that I could store it at just now, I really would appeciate it. Cheers
-
Well its been a long day of sleeping today. Never slept a wink in hospital lastnight, so angry that this has happened. I cant remember a thing, just remember a loud scream which must have been me, then a thud. Between there and the Ambulance, im only told by the Police what happened to the car and havent even seen the mess of it yet.
I appreciate all your warm words, this has come at a really bad time for me, really something I shouldnt have to be dealing with on top of all else going on right now. Heres hoping that they're caught and that I can get back on the road soon.

Last night at 7.30 I was driving along the Brae Road just passed carpark in the sky when a group of neds in a Saxo VTR overtook me on the brow of the hill, leading to the long straight toward Lugton. As I watched the VTR disappear into the distance I noticed he'd breaked hard and made a swerving manouvre to the left into a junction finding it strange as I approached them, he then began to move back onto the road to frighten me. What he DID misjudge, was how close I actually was and he smashed into the side of my Wagon putting me into 2 trees, throwing the car into the air backwards and taking a telegraph pole clean out right from the root. I'd just like thank that young group of lads who ran away and left me LYING in my Impreza, and for them not even having he human decensy to phone an Ambulance as tey fled.
What the scum apparently DID have time for, was to rip the subs and amps out the boot first before making off. I spent lastnight in Hospital with a million Doctors and Nurses prodding me, injecting me and takig blood to find out exactly why my legs couldnt move and why my ribs were in so much pain. Thankfully now Im home and well, EXTREMELY lucky to be alive and kicking. If anyone needs parts for a 98 Wagon, mine is lying in a mllion and one bits in Johnstone.
