  1. Best place I know is here... http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/lodgedetail.asp?lid=82 Just over the Tay bridge so quite picturesque, good off road parking in quiet spot of town. But just 5mins walk from city centre. Good breakfast too. Steve
  2. Looking stunning mate [H] Where di you get the winglets? Been thinking of putting some on my car, but not come across them as yet. Steve.
  3. Thanks for the advice guys. Ended up giving Alyn a call at AS Performance, and you are right, top guy and really knows his stuff. Went through all the options and ended up going for DS2500's all round with some new disks as well. Delivered overnight, great service. Can't recommend them enough! Car is in this morning getting them fitted [] Steve.
  4. Yea, just booked it in and got someone who knew about it and said it was fine. Just the last person I spoke to didnt know the offer properly. Thanks for the help guys Steve.
  5. Thanks guys. I saw that thread and it wasn't very clear, I thought the discount was applicable to all work being done, will find out later when I book the car in! Cheers, Steve.
  6. Hi, Hopefully someone can clear this up for me. I have been told by T & C that the discounted rate of £40 + vat labour charges are only applicable when you book your car in for a service. The way the deal reads to me is that you get the discounted rate on any work that is getting done. Cheers Steve.
  7. Thanks for that Craig [] I noticed the same seller has a full set of front and back disks with Red Stuff ceramic pads for £500. Even though the rears are not needing done yet I think I might go for this set and get them all done at the same time. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EBC-pads-and-discs-f...ZViewItem Anyone have thoughts on the red stuff pads, I've red mixed reports on these Cheers, Steve.
  8. Just had the car in at Town and County and been told I need new front disks and pads along with 2 front tyres. The tyres are easy, sticking with the same Potenzas on the car at the moment, however, I need some advice on the brakes. I have a 2005 WRX with PPP and while the standard brakes are ok, I think with the extra power from the PPP an upgrade would be wise. I don't know where to start though, I have standard 17" wheels on, so can someone reccomend a decent priced set of brakes and pads that will gove a bit better performance than the standards. Cheers Steve.
  9. I received a letter today from Subaru inviting me to take a new Subaru for a test drive. If I do I get a free flight to New York for myself, and up to 3 guests for a discounted price. Only 1 small catch, I pay the taxes and surcharges, at about £100. But still a great offer!! [] And I get to take a nice shiny new STI for a spin. Anyone else get one of these fliers through the post? Steve.
  10. Car is looking cracking! Another excellent detail Iain [] Steve.
  11. Brilliant write up and looks like an excellent trip. My imagination is running wild now - I wonder how the girlfriend will react when I tell her I need to go for a blast round the ring! Steve.
  12. Hi Gus, if you still have some left I'll take a pair off your hands! Cheers Steve.
  13. If you can get one then go for the RB320. If not how about trying to get one of the S204's on import? Either would be a cracking car!! Steve.
  14. Iain was up doing a little work on the wheels after his very generous offer to do them - heres the results.... I think they look fantastic! Many thanks Iain - can't wait to get a full detail from you now!! Steve.
  15. Shell in Aboyne were 95.9 until the other day when its gone up to 99.9 [] I use this handy little site, worth checking if there is anything cheaper nearby - you need to sign up but its free http://www.petrolprices.com/ Steve.
  16. Hey Iain, got hold of the wife and she is fine with tomorrow if you are still free. Any time in the afternoon is good with myself. [] Hopefully see you tomorrow! Steve.
  17. Wow Iain, what a kind offer!! Thanks very much. The other half is coming back from Houston on Sunday so picking her up at Aberdeen airport at 10am - assuming there are no delays I will be free all afternoon. She might not be best pleased tho [][] I'll clear it with her and let you know for sure later today. Thanks mate Steve.
  18. Sat behind a really good looking car last night on the way home from work - at about 5.15pm between Peterculter and Drumoak. Was a silver new age with what looked like SWRT stickers and maybe a carbon fibre bonnet? Turned off towards Drumoak School. Was a cracking drive home last night, lots of classic sports cars coming the opposite way, anyone know if there was an event on out towards Banchory or Aboyne? To top it all off (and almost making me crash straining to see it) a McLaren F1 flew past me []- what a beautiful car! [] Steve.
  19. Fairly sure that is a standard WRX with a few mods, the interior gives it away really. http://www.arnoldclark.com/detail.html?ac_...0&$ac_pp=10 Hope that link works! Steve.
  20. I had Iain booked to come up the other day, but due to a late problem I found myself with the day to myself so rolled my sleeves up and cleaned it myself. Quite happy with it, apart from the wheels, anyone know of anything that gives a nice bright shine? Steve.
  21. Just sorting out my renewal just now, been quoted £630 from Tesco for my05 WRX 300. Im 28, 5yrs NCB, 11 years experience and living out in the sticks (past Banchory), and protecting my no claims too. As a note of interest I tried Kieth Michaels after reading about them on here and they wouldnt even quote me! Insurance companies should not tarnish all young drivers with Subarus with the same brush - not all of them are wee ned racers. There will be some proper enthusiasts out there who are paying for some proper wa*kers racing and careless driving. On the same note you see more modded ned-mobiles crashed and written off as Imprezas. Steve.
  22. Was in Town and County today and it looks like it is going to look like that. Designed by some Sapnish guy who does one of hte Seat range (Altea I think) Dont know how accurate this is but found a pic of the STI which looks a good bit nicer http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/07/sportha...ru-impreza-sti/ Steve.
  23. Ive just used the VED calculator on Parkers for MY52 Impreza 2.0 WRX STI 4d (02) and it says im a band F? Can somebody please tell me if im a F or a G. no rude comments please! Everything registered before 23rd March 2006 will be in group F at the highest so you will be ok. Group G only applies to cars registered after this date. [] Steve.
  24. First time I have had to buy insurance for my Impreza as I've only had it 6 weeks, but its time to renew my policy. Got a quote from Privilege for £620 (im 28, 5years no claims) for my 05 WRX300. They require a tracker to be fitted however, but I am quite happy with the price I have been quoted. The point of this post was to point you in the direction of the cashback sites - Quidco, Greasypalm etc. Most of these sites offer cashback when you follow a link through them - for example through www.quidco.com you get £70 cashback from Privilege. Worthwhile checking these sites out - some good savings to be had. Steve.
  25. I think this is correct - however, I'm not 100% sure Any car registered before 1st March 2001 pay either £110 or £175 depending on whether the engine is above or below 1549cc For cars registered on or after 1st March 2001 tax is worked out by CO2 emissions - the highest being group F which is £190 for 12months. According to todays budget this will increase to £200 immediately then by another £10 over the next 2 years. So by 2009 it will have increased to £210. for cars registered on or after 23rd March 2006 there is an additional group G - this is the one that will be hiked to £300 this year and £400 for the following year. So unless you have a car under 1 year old you will not notice much difference, I just checked my 2005 WRX300 and it fell into group F [] I found a handy VED checker on Parkers - <html> http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/ved/ </html> I hope this clears some things up! Cheers Steve.
