  1. Ok guys and gals just a wee heads up to let you know I am going to be lending a hand to Keira with her duties as ro. Keira will still be ro but I will help arrange meets etc and hopefully we can get the Scottish section thriving again. Like everyone else sometimes we struggle to get to a computer to log in to the forums so hopefully by me lending a hand we can find winston and get him to safety :smiley-taunt014:

Any objections to this then there is only one thing for it :icon_butt:

    Chris

Good stuff. Not been on here for a wee while but the car will be back on the road in April. Lets hope we can get the area/Scottish section thriving again. Let me know if you ever need any help wth anything. :Scottish-flag:

  2. Previously the Glasgow meets were so established on the first Thurs of each month that you didn't even need to be on here to know it would be on. Unfortunatly the numbers died away and the meets dried up. So time to try something else. Any week night is good for me. I know weekend meets were tried, but not so good for me. Roads are quieter in the evenings for some decent runs too.

  3. An absolutely excellent programme, best hours viewing in a while.

The accident report section was very much needed to give the balance between his genius in a rally car and ultimatly what happened is the helicopter. Well done to the BBC for the way the handled it and for not just skirting round the issue. Made for uncomfortable listening but it is a reality for every McRae fan.

Hoy was clearly a true fan and presented very well. He was no a bad driver either.

If I am being critical, mocking up a L555 BAT look a like was unneccesary as they could have just used a similar Impreza and made no secret of it. Also, some small errors in the footage like showing Chartiot in the 1991 Manx.

  4. Copy of what I posted in the Scottish section. Been some stuff in the Scottish press about it.

Reading in a few places today that the BBC basically 'bottled it' and have scrapped the programme fearing a backlash over it, given McRae was found at fault for the helicopter crash that killed him and his passengers.

They may re-edit into a different format and show it at a later date but sources suggest it will never see the light of day.

BBC website still says third programme at a later date.

  6. Not been on yet.

    Taken from another forum:

"Colin McRae programme has just been delayed (and replaced by the Jackie Stewart profile). Reason is that there are contractural problems with other parties involved in the make-up of the programme.

No date has yet been decided"

  7. Hmnn.. My insurance is due at the end of December (yeah I know great timing around christmas!) and in light of the milage thing I just checked back my annual milage on the Impreza.. Since 2009 I've been averaging between 3000 and 3500 miles a year! :o Might be worth updating that bit of info on my policy this year.. Maybe drop it to 4k or 5k just to be safe. See if it makes a difference.. Fingers crossed anyway :icon_salut:

Much the same as me. I have mine insured for 8k miles a year and I am doing just over 3.5k a year. Insurance due next month and I can save almost £100 by dropping the miles on the policy to 5k.

Still trying to work out how to do the insurance in the future as I plan to sorn it for 6 months over the winter from next year so need 6 months fully comp and 6 months laid up with only fire and theft.

  8. I am sure the newage is every 5 years or 50k whichever is soonest.

I am also due a 10 year/100k service and was planning on changing the cambelt. I did the last one at its 5 year service although I have only done about 25k miles since then.

What price did you get quoted? I assume it is not cheap! PM me if you like.

  9. Welcome. Nice to see another bugeye owner!

Pics come up a bit small but the front lights look like morettes. Don't think they are available anymore.

My car is pretty standard so can't offer advice on how to mod it, but someone will be along soon who can.

    Where are you from?

  10. Looking absolutely fantastic! Puts mine to shame with the amount a junk I normally have stuffed in around the car!

I bought the Elite version, as had better roof all windows and PVC guttering were included. it was also lower Apex roof height was 2.40m so complied with Planning rules as within 2 metres of a boundary . IIRC the standard version was over 100mm too high

A wee reminder to those north of the border, planning rules are different in Scotland (I am a Planner by profession).

  11. Yup, Priviledge and Tesco both insisted on a tracker for my 2002 WRX when I tried them in the past. I had one in the car I bought but now I m with Admiral and my premiums are actually £50 more expensive with a tracker, so I discontinued my subscription.

  12. Toyo Proxes are the best tyres I have had on mine. Always very well priced on Camskill.

Mine came with budget tyres when I bought it (Federals), and they came off very quickly!

Got ultra budget tyres on my daily runner, currently West Lakes (from Shanghai). They make for some very interesting handling!

  13. However, it is still the same club, so off to renew my membership now.

Now back showing as a member :Scottish-flag: , although with the strange side effect of my user name changing to all lowercase, all by itself. Spooky!

  14. On here I find it is mainly just banter rather than slagging off. I get it from my mates, but agin it is just for the banter.

But I do come accross people from time to time who really slag the car off. But hey, it is my car, my choice, my money and I am happy with it. Would I like a newer one? yes? Can I afford it? no, can I justify it for a second/fun car? no.
