you need to remember that scoobies are very popular cars and they arent exclusively sold to us petrol heads. i got a wave from every skyline driver when i had it as they are rare and they arent driven by the usual farmer/doctor/housewife who arent into the scooby/car modding/petrol drinking scene. these people but them for other reasons. we love these cars and are into this for a whole different side of the car. hence the reason why some of us dont wave at every tom dick or henrietta driving an impreza ! i think we all know this anyway ![<)]

if you cut them (in half) and fit a bigger sleeve over one end and tack weld it in place then drill a hole right through the other end with the other part slid into place so you can put a pin through it to lock it when erected ! howz that ! try a local black smith ! easy for that guy ! -
just replaced the recirc valve with a bailey one that i hade bought from the scientist for my wagon ! i need an L pipe to fit properly but it chatters away nicely ! sounds fantastic ! even the recirc one chattered but quieter ! funnily enough steve said it didnt chatter on his ?? strange ! this sounds the doggies and adds to the persona of the car !

found this in japautomotive history ! Car History Thursday, 15 June 2006 THE SUBARU IMPREZA went on sale in November 1992,powered by a boxer engine,& with the option of 4 wheel drive on certain models. It was also availble as an estate. For the WRX,there was the Boxer Turbo from the Legacy RS & GT,abbeit slightly modified.Designated th EJ20.this was an all-alloy flat four with a 1994cc capacity. It featured twin camshafts,fuel-injection with a Mitsubishi TD04H Turbo Charger, intercooler & a 8.5:1 compression ratio. It developed 240 Bhp @ 6000rpm,along with 224lbft of torque. Although front wheel drive was the starting point for the Impreza layout,Subaru's 4WD expertise was a big selling point. There was a bevel gear centre differential with a viscus coupling. This full-time 4WD system normally split torque 50:50,but the viscus coupling compensated as road conditions changed, sending power to the wheels with the most traction. The rear differential featured a limited-slip device. The WRx came with much harder suspension, with special springs * bushes. The shock absorbers incorporated a liner control valve. The Type RA version featured further uprated, stronger components-the equivalent level to those used on the rally circuit. In May 1994 a STi model was launched(Subaru Tecnica Industries).A number of performance modifications were crried out,A highly tuned Blueprint engine with forged piston & pins, polished intake ports,a remapped ECU,increased Turbo boost,an uprated intercooler with water spray & a Fujitsubo Exhaust System. This produced 250 Bhp @6500 rpm & 227 lbft of torque @ 3500 rpm0-60 was reached in 5.6 seconds. The Sports Wagan hit 0-60 in 6.1 seconds.

has anyone got a spare grill i can try ??
rabskyline replied to rabskyline's topic in Scottish Scoobies
it is different but thanks buddy ! my wagon wasa a p reg and totally different front end ! i need to get an older one! -
heres a start. the engine code is ej20dw2hj (from what i can see the wrx is dw1 and the sti is dw2) the gearbox/diff code is close ratio type b,ra (open front diff).sti brace, manual mirrors,windows,l/w bonnet/boot,water spray, piaa system, twin pot fron brakes, alloy wishbones. now if there is any other guaranteed spec then let me know and i'll check to see ! i would like to know one way or another too !
-
i did apologise for barking ![:'(] and i am as open as you'll find ! but all i am saying is compare the early 94/94 cars when these were made and no two are the same and i havent seen any of them with sti embroidered seats. but these are different to what i have seen in a wrx also! the base comes up more at the sides. i seen about twenty cars at the docks, all wrx's and nothing like this car in any way [:^)]apart from a 95 sti ra which also didnt have the dccd switch(or i couldnt see it anyway !) i would like to see another up close to compare it now that there is doubts about its authenticity ! if anyone can give the absolute 100% gaurenteed spec list to these cars then i will do a tick list to clear it all up ! i'll put up what i see on the car and we can take it from there.

no one got an old classic grill ? for ten mins? [:'(] -
yip i see that but check the car out !! logged in japan as wrx sti type ra, ( have the jap stuff here) and has everything bar the dccd.(from what i can see.) come and see and then do the sums !! but do read up, they are very very varied and they dont all have dccd and roof vents etc. anyway i am losing the will to live ![|-)]

well heres the question, cos you had me wonderin', did wrx type ra's have a water spray, sti strut brace, short ratio g/box, manual windows, light weight panels etc etc. well this does so there obviously are different specs to be ordered when these were new. the type ra website has loads of info and these cars never came out 2 the same ! they were all experimental/irraticaly built to what was at hand at the time ( as far as i have read !) and my gc8b47d doesnt make it 100% this or that ! check the site out, its good ! rab, from your descriptions, the pics on the other thread and your model number, your car is a WRX Type RA. the identifiable features of the STi RA are the roof hatch and the DCCD (which came on all cars as standard, no matter what options were checked at the factory). clicky here for model numbers btw, i've had the roof vent open on my STi RA and the only thing that comes through it is wind! the furthest the midges get is getting splat against the windscreen when i'm out on a run [] not so according to the type ra website !
