Lowering Springs(newage)

Was thinking of putting lowering springs on my bugeye. Does make the ride harsh? Do you go for 35mm drop?

Any advice welcome

I have prodrive springs on my Blob and they're fine, closes the wheel to wheel arch gap sufficiently along with still acceptable firmness.

When I looked in to it before getting them fitted others mentioned e.g. teins which are tad lower (think) and firmer (to point some would say not nice ride on a daily runner) which I didn't want - comes down to personal choice to an extent.

I put Whiteline 'Flat Out' springs on my former Bugeye WRX which I believe lowered it about 25mm and wasn't too harsh. That said was a bit low at the front with a lip spoiler on and some high speed bumps, etc were tricky. Any lower with a lip spoiler could be another issue to consider.

After much consideration i went for a set of prodrive springs rather than tein efforts as the ride quality for daily use was not as hard.........tell you better if i ever get round to fitting them!!!

The TEINS are definately "bumpier" than the prodrive springs on normal roads. I noticed quite a difference going from Prodrive springs to the TEIN Superstreets....I do like them for cornering though!

I have the Tein Sport springs on my 05 WRX and it is very much a daily driver/family car. I have three young children and there are no issues with the ride being too stiff, bumpy or uncomfortable.

I had always planned for Prodrive springs, but Duncan from Hypertech (they supplied and fitted the springs, Whiteline ARB's, ALK and droplinks, also fast road geometry set-up) advised me to go for the Teins over the Prodrive springs.

He is the expert, not I. :)

The car now has fantastic handling capabilities but is still reasonably comfortable to drive.

Here's a pic to show you the ride height........ :D

Ive got the Prodrive springs on my 05 STI, much more comfortable with far less "titty bounce" on a day to day drive, but feels more planted on track. Its strange with the Prodrive springs being progresivly sprung they are softer on the road but seem to be harder when you want to push things on track with a bit more feedback than the standard springs

Prodrive springs (not the best pic due to the angle

Graeme how much did the STI springs lower the front and back :D Got some KYB's and prodrive springs to go on the road car just not got round to it. The white shed keeps causing me issues every time I plan to fit them :)

Lowered it approx 30mm all round, used to be able to get my fist between the tyre and the arches then after fitting the springs I could only get my a bit of my hand between them
