thewelsho Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Fitted the Scott Lowe splitter onto my Hawkeye... looks fantastic. The record that I think I have set is that it was on TWO days till I cracked it!!! ARGH! Beat that!
scouk Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Ouch!!! That depends... On how strict the rules are... I fitted a ebay splitter onto my bugeye just 20 mins before the recent elgin meet, then a hour or so later, It came off at circa 60mph and broke in three! yeah I know I'm stupid and should have made sure it was more secure, but you live and learn.. Fotunately only harm done was to the splitter..
fai17 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I know the feeling John.........[:'(] That's why i haven't fitted any.
corsa Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I got my new company car on a Friday at 4pm, left the handbrake off and it rolled down the drive into the garden wall!!! Circa 30 mins!! 19" VXR alloy knacked, front splitter and bumper broken
STi_Bandit Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Whooops sorry to hear that john, did the same with mine as iam sure you know, if the damage is not that bad it can easily repaired, if its fully split again its not hard to repair with some glass fiber resin for the like of repair boat hulls on fiber glass boats, Bandit
4Hero Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 ouch John, I may think twice before fitting one now [:S] Had an xr3i for 5 weeks when I was younger, rolled it, and managed to salvage the stereo, steering wheel and gear stick knob, everything else was slightly broken [:'(]
colzo Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Sorry to hear that John, hate when things like that happen. [:'(] As I think I said to you before you might have got a way with it if you had got the genuine Subaru splitter as they are a bit more robust.

[:$] Never bought another red car since. [^o)]
st3ph3n Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I've found the Scott Lowe splitter fairly robust. Grounded it a few times. The problem with my car, and indeed with John's is the fact it's also running the Teins. It's lower than a snakes belly.
thewelsho Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 Ouch for Corsa! I think that takes the prize. I ground off the rough edges at the crack and then put in some "no-mix" cataloy into it. Once it hardens I'll buff it down and paint it. I can't work it out though; I was going in and out of the driveway without any bother, then one time it hit. Had to get the missus to watch and I tried different angles and areas of the driveway. Pfff what a hassle!

Guest Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 lol at corsa comment. I know a mechanic who worked for peugeot. He drove a brand new car without plates off a transporter washed it and moved it on to the show stand. As he walked away it rolled off across a main road and it rolled 400yards down a street hitting 9 cars in the process it then hit the house at the end of the street and ended up in the living room. Told me he actully cried. It ended up being his last day at that garage!!!!!!!! so corsa your vaux rolling into a wall is nothing as this guy caused £100k's worth a damage cos the house had to be rebuilt as it was structurally unsound lol.
scouk Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Geez!! Just goes to show that no matter how stupid you feel.. There's always someone, somewhere willing to go that extra bit further []
