boris b Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Ok folks , i've had enough of getting pelters from mates about the sound of the horn [:'(].........Apparently its sounds " Girly" ( sorry girls , term used by others).[:$] Where can i get a decent one ? I presume they are easy to change ? Any info would be much appreciated. Kit B
gus the bus Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Kit, get some Daisy Duke airhorns mate[] You can get replacements from most motor factors and are a piece of..... to replace/fit! Gus
RS Grant Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I doubt these are a 'direct bolt-on replacement' for a Scoob and you'd probably get an asbo for these but they are very cool. [] Cheers, Grant
the blue dragon Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 PMSL [] ( unlike some of them who just p***ed themselves!! Iain
Guest v8voodoo Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I replaced the old "girly" horn on my old wrx with twin air horns. A bit fiddly to fit, but got them in there and they were loud, but still a bit high pitched. Thinking of changing again on my new scoob as the foreign truck drivers here in Dover are f****ing blind and deaf. I happen to have a Stebel Nautilus in my cupboard and will be putting that on soon. It puts out a decent "barp", but it's a bit bulky and fitting it may need some lateral thinking.... Nige.

When one fails, it sounds like "peep peep, s'cuse me can you please let me through?...", whereas with both working properly, it should sound like "oi! get tae f*** oot ma road, am cummin through!"
bigdavie Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 i have one of those nautilus horns in the car too makes a decent bark as i left the original deeper of the two original horns in and connected ! 2 minute job hth
ANDYJDMSTI Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Changed mine to the PIAA ones.........am now not embarassed to use it!!!
oobster Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Easy to fit Andy? Also, where did you get them from? Edit - found this site - http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Horns.html

ANDYJDMSTI Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Easy to fit Andy? Also, where did you get them from? Edit - found this site - http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Horns.html The bumper was off at the time so yes it was easy to fit so i am told. They are in a rather awkward place though. Got them from one of the Subaru sites i think, scoobyworld or one of the other ones, can't honestly remember as i got them ages ago.
WRC No 1 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 i have this on my car. can get them from halfords for £18 just remove the horn on the near side behind the head light and u can use the 2 wires that are there no need to use the relay as the car has its own relay for the horns. wullie
karps Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 check out some of these [] http://www.hornblasters.com/vide.php
oobster Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I was through at Livi today so I popped into Halfrods & bought a Stebel Nautilus - £17.24 I'll fit it later on if it stops raining
st3ph3n Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I find a blip of the throttle is more effective than the horn in my car. Certainly louder.
boris b Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 Thanks for all the advice guys. [Y] Will visit Halfrauds on Monday and get a set...
Johnny50 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Can you not use the ones from yer company car ??? []
boris b Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 Now there's a thought [Y] I think that someone would notice the lack of sound at some point.....[]

I'm having issues finding a decent placing for mine... Nige.
oobster Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Nige - i've got the WR1-style front lower grille on my car so it's behind there - I got the black Nautilus so that it isn't seen.
the blue dragon Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Ive got the black nautilus also, i managed to get mine in behind nearside headlight. there was a very convenient space betwenn it and the battery []. Iain
