Hypertech... they fix everything. What's this about a replacement ECU anyway? Thought Scoobies were remapped, not replaced. Enlighten me!

Its only the 99- onwards cars that have the ability to take the EcuTek re-mapping option... the older ECU's require something like a ScoobyECU chip like Gus has bought or a full replacement, like an Apexi Power FC etc.

Sorry I cant help you out Gus, know of a guy through here that could do it, but thats not much use to you. Good luck sorting it out mate. [:(]

welsho - the older classics are not remapable.

gus - a tv engineer or similar should be able to do it. if  you have a look about there is info about as to which capacitor they should 'cut'

It's better to get an extra chip socket soldered on (i think that's right). This way if you need to or want to you can remove the aftermarket chip and run the oe ecu.

I'll try to find pics of my board to show the extra socket and chip.

Johnny it is a chip within a carrier (socket) setup[Y] . Thats what was supplied by Scoobyecu so I'll be doing that incase I "take it oot" in the future.

Who fitted your one ? just incase tomorrow doesnt work out[:S]

Thanks for the info matey[:(]

hi matey, don't forget to take out the J1 resister!.....(but keep it safe incase) this will then by-pass the stock map and use your chip.

useless information!. but just incase as i didn't see a mention of the J1[Y]

Cheers Mark[Y], job done (the instructions with the chip are pretty good for a change!!!) and they even showed a wee diagram of the resistor to be removed, and which one not to be removed as obviously a few folk have cut the L1 by mistake. doh!!!

Cheers

Good stuff gus, a bit late but my board was fitted by zerosports in japan. The car detted like mad with the chip in on our fuel so i had to remove it. Now running another chip (thought to be scoobyecu but may not be...long story).

I now get 1.1 bar in lower gears upping to 1.3 bar in 4th and 5th. Although i may be getting a little boost creep, never goes over 1.3 so i'm happy.

hi matey, noticed you have zerosports too, i'm stil not convinced about mine either, i have the old eprom chip in another ecu, was thinking about changing to be on safe side, did you find any performance changes ie: low gear torque, boost?...cheers matey....the one thing i'll miss is the humungus bangs and flames with the zerosports, better off keeping the engine in one piece i spose eh!!..

Obviously when the chip was removed the car felt slow but with the other chip it feels just as good, prob not as aggressive power but definately the same sort of power.

I don't know what it is about zerosports stuff over here, must be to do with what the customer in japan wanted or sommat. Some seem fine and others not too good.

Bill (greer) had a classic with a zerosports ecu along with some other zerosports bits. It had 3 boost settings (iirc) and would only run on setting 1 ( the least boost) even with the octane upped.

intresting, i have just the chip and mods below.. chip was set at 18psi boost, took it down manualy to 17 psi, but over fuels loads, hence the huge bangs ect..just feel the over fueling should be used in the engine rather than out the zoorst!..gonna try my other one which is set 15.5 psi but also for uk fuel, no bangs with this one so i'll see what it does with the power output[Y]

cheers, mark
