scoobyiain Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Went to see a friend from detailing world on monday to try out some new waxes. Looking at buying a new one for the fast and modified show in july so got different wax on each panel of my car so let me know what you prefer. bonnet: zymol concourse passenger wing: zymol ital driver wing: zymol titanium spoiler: zymol destiny passenger doors and rear wing: poorboys natty blue driver door: collonite 845 Not going to say prices yet want to see what people think 1st
the blue dragon Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Iain, obviously photographs dont do the products justice, but personally i think the zymol destiny shows the clearest and detailed reflection, but at the end of the day, everyone will have their own favourite finish. they all look good btw [Y] just out of interest, what is your preferred wax out of them? cheers Iain
fai17 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I think they all look the same.....they all look good. Pics don't do it justice
scoobyiain Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 it's between the destiny and concourse for me but there is a big price difference.
scoobyiain Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 concours = £164 destiny = £486 ital = £360 titanium = £67 845 = £16 nattys = £12
oobster Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I'm probably known on this forum for being fairly anal about cleaning my car, but no way would I spend anything over £100 on a tub of wax. Each to their own though.
4Hero Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 £100 on a tub of wax? Yer af yer heed Andy, you could get a lovely camera bag for that price [] p.s. Iain, the destiny looks the best from where I'm sitting. Just wouldn't personally pay that myself.
frank c Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I must be a cheap skate as i bought the Nattys Blue...Best £12 i ever spent.
gus the bus Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I was gonna say Ital but then noticed the price[] FFS thats just criminal! but if you want to buy it and come doon n "wax" n "detail" the 555 then carry oan[][:$]
dan_jess Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I think the Concours looks good, the destiny looks good 2, but i think thats maybe coz its on a flat surface
marky.t.s Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 all pics have a good shine, but as some have said ,pretty pricey gear, for the concours and the destiny i could have a remap and a decat, but its your money mate. oh and btw iain do you ever drive that thing.or,do you get a guy with a red flag and a top hat to walk in front of you[]
scoobyiain Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 i love driving it but cleaning it is even better. never thought about getting someone to walk in front of me. anyone want a job?
Alan-G Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 It does all look a bit pricey to me as well. Iain did do a detailing job on both me and Fab 1's motors and they came up superbly. But, the question I must ask. Fab 1 uses an eye moisturiser thingy that cost aboot 27 sheets. (I was jumpin aroond mad that she spent that on a teeny tub that says no. 27 or summit on the tub). But it's lasted for ages - on a daily basis. She likes it - it lasts for donkeys ! (donkeys could use this product as well, to reduce their eye wrinkles) But I suppose you get what you pay for.... When was the last time you bought a can of WD40 to suppress all the squeeks from the hinges within yer hoose doors and ended up throwing the can out 'cos it was so old it wouldn't work anymore ? Swings and roondaboots I suppose. Being a Jeweller who polishes a lot, I kinda know, that paying for the cheapest polish never gives the real result. I choose the most expensive and the result is more business 'cos the punter is really happy. You pay for what you get.
monkip1 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Im very handy at polishing provided you use Zymole [](My on preferance of course), Got the polish applicator, polishing mit ect ect? Monki

RA Dunk Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 teflon for me too, have you tried that yet ian? the results are out standing []
scoobyiain Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 teflon for me too, have you tried that yet ian? the results are out standing [] I have not tried it but have seen the results it gives. was on spacemans car before i detailed it. i done a beading test on his and mine and prefered the wax that was on my car (collonite 476)
colzo Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I use Swissol Samurai Wax. Great finish and excellent protection, all done by hand! [Y]
diffbuster Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 What would the experts recomend other than t cut to smooth out an uneven surface on paint work, car went into garage down south and came back covered in what i thought was only dust when i i cleaned it surface was rough making me think it may have been overspray from a paint shop its not visible to the eye but its like a magnet for dust even after loads of polishing in the year since it happened thanks gary.
WRX Haz Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I personally dont see the point in spending hundreds on polish..dont get me wrong i like my car kept clean. When i got my scooby, i clayed it, polished it with meguiar's step 2 polish and waxed it with step 3. Now all i do is once a week is wash it with the two bucket system and micro mit and occasional wax and i have to say the finish is amazing.
scoobyiain Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 Have just shelled out for a complete zymol kit consisting of shampoo, cleanser, wax, pads, mits etc etc. Cant wait to get stuck in with it. going to wait until july to use it tho as all the wax thats on it just now will see me thru til then.
gus the bus Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Iain, if you want to come and try it on the 555 before then it will be back from the paintshop next weekend[][] (hopefully)
