Spaceman Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Hi guys looking for some help. MY car is MY05 wrx and iv had the car decatted. Got mapped off Andy F on the 2nd of april, He said the Exhaust Gas Temp sensor would prob go on the car as thats what happened with his. Any CEL light is on and thanks to the guys At ian greives the told me it was the EGT sensor that was away. So what im looking for is how to bypass this and what size of resistor i should use? Cheers Greig
the squiggle Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 The EGT can be diconnected on the classics and the ECU ignores it, does not bring on a CEL To find the answer to which resistor you need Register here and ask, more likely one of these guys has done it before or knows of the correct resistor www.22b.com www.nasioc.com
Spaceman Posted April 15, 2007 Author Posted April 15, 2007 Cheers squirrel your a legend mate thanks ill try disconnecting and getting it reset. see if that does the trick Greig
WUZ Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 What you need is a 2200 OHM resistor placed across the connector where the EGT used to be connected ( front of Drivers suspension Turret ). Russell
Bing Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Yep, i confirm that this works a treat. I have thrown 2 CEL's in the last few months though - both being EGT. Do you think I should get another resistor?

Spaceman Posted April 15, 2007 Author Posted April 15, 2007 Cheers guys i will head up the I/E workshop the now. greig.
RRS 555 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 What does the EGT sensor look like on the suspension turret? I am getting a remap in May and want to be prepared. Thanks.
WUZ Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Its the Connector Plug that is on the Drivers Suspension Turret. The sensor (on WRX's, the STI doesn't have one) is in the uppipe. Russell

Tissy Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Alternatively you can get an OBD 2 reader and just reset the code yourself and to make sure it is the EGT. Furthermore the OBD reader will allow full diagnosis so you can see any other faults looming. Subaru normally charge in excess of £55 to reset the CEL once, these are available now for £75 inc P&P [] With the right software it also allows dyno runs and quarter / half mile measurements etc. Of course once purchased you are not limited to Subarus, they will work on any European cars after 2001. Good pieces of kit.
