fai17 Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Right it's getting serious and i need some proper answers. Which ecu is really best for a road/track day car? Will ECUTEK get me further on my current state of tune? Can ECUTEK run without a MAF and use MAP sensor intead? I'm looking at stage 3 and will need a really good map to get me there. Do i stick with the GEMS or move onto ECUTEK? I need some really good answer for and against for both ECUs.
higgy Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Peater Give me a ring and i will tell you all as i have spent alot of time over the few months asking the same question. Higgy
andrew_forrest Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I would tend to say neither Peter. Depending on how far your next stage is going I would say Autronics SM4 ECU Ecutek is ideal for up to the maximum bolt-on turbo power level of approx 450bhp Once you go twisted set up then you are better with a map based unit. Andy
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Quote Depending on how far your next stage is going I would say Autronics SM4 ECU Andy Have chatted to a guy down south about this, can you map the Autronics Andy or do you know who does???
Guest Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 andy, tsl do mapping of the above. i think this is the type hypertech may be mapping once the rolling road (1200 bhp +_ is in - later this year. alan
WUZ Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Best person for Autronic (unless AndyF does it) is Mark Shead of MA Developments, or Pat Hereborn. Russell
andrew_forrest Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 I am running an Autronics ECU on my race car this year and I'm certainly not contracting out the mapping [] Andy
st3ph3n Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Would that be the noise of a Meercat exhuast hitting the M8 eastbound?
_jac_ Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Quote Would that be the noise of a Meercat exhuast hitting the M8 eastbound? If it was me i would be going in that direction.
fai17 Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Well that has thrown that idea right into orbit...... Will need to look deeper still. Thanks

the squiggle Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Quote good to know!! Now watch all the top end modders Google for Autronics ECU. Maybe even give Pete and Andy some working Anti-lag to scare the weans Best ECU is a massive Holley carb and some points to control the igntion
rapidcossie Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Alan @ AVA mapped my SM4... Makes 550 bhp from a 2 litre[H] Not a scooby tho but a scooby would be no probs for him. The SM4 has an internal 5 bar map sensor so you would be best to swap to a map based system
steven_beattie Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Quote [ How is you car running m8? its running nice !! just under 500bhp on my 2ltr and pulls really well thru the gears
sma01 Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Been in the car with euan, that cossie is some machine, absolutely awesome performance.... had wondered about changing from the gems, but after all the financial outlay need to see if it is going to be up to the job or not before changing it... scott
st3ph3n Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Peter, how about you get a scientist with a fast calculator to sit in the passenger seat and give him a console with a button for each spark plug, a knob for the fuel, and a wee lever for openning and closing the wastegate.
fai17 Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 Good plan Stephen.... I'll just get a couple of wee Japs to do the job.
