Or do you mean "Dibs - for inviting me along to take what would otherwise have been his first place". [:D] [:P]

LOL [:D]

Going to enjoy that wine, even if it was Merlot [:D] [:D]

"No, if anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any *censored* Merlot!" (you have to see the film Sideways to get this quote)

I actually don't mind Merlot, so it was a nice surprise at the end to get that. I really thought I'd fluffed up every run and genuinely did NOT expect to win. Shame somebody had to lose, but at least it was my best mate [:D]

@ chief-long-shin - it was yesterday, so you missed it. Sorry [:D]

I got myself a new set of tyres today. Feel sure I could have got a bit quicker on that circuit if i had some tread left.

Front seemed to get more twitchy as the day went on.

...............any one want to be taught how to completely avoid the slalom section in a shameful attempt at cheating. lol!!!
I know who to call if I do [:P]

I have to say, despite the fact that I am a hater of flamer kits, your flames yesterday were most impressive [H]

Yep, it was a cracking day - although I'm still feeling the effects of the sun [H]

Considering I'm a good 60 bhp down on Cluck I was very pleased with my times.  It just goes to show that the biggest gains in performance come from driver skill [:D]

Thanks for sorting the day Kevin and we'll have to do another sometime.  Now, where can I get some tyres which don't get ripped to shreds........

Dibs [H]

Couldn't agree more fella [:)] [:D]

All I needed to do was nail that final hairpin correctly, and I would have made a perfect lap on run 3 I reckon [:(]

Had a great day too.  Dad (Richard) and I  really enjoyed
ourselves  although I have sunburn on my face and neck and was
absolutely shattered for my shift at the pub in the evening. plus all the bruising from riding in clucks car.

Maybe
next time I will put on my old wheels on so I don't shred another set
of Toyo's.  Had great fun doing this though and have learnt a lot
about the car.

Cheers

One driver training day and already you've started with the racing driver excuses Ian[:D]. Thanks again Kevin for organising the day i had a great time. New tyres tommorrow!

Fantastic day peeps!! [:D] Thanks goes to Kevin and Ben Elliot Racing.

Learned a great deal about how the car handles, was the first time i've driven it that much on the limit (and beyond!).

Just couldn't get the braking point for that last hairpin right...........so frustrating!

Highlight of the day though was definately watching Charlie in the Defender. A good driver, or just fearless [:S] [:P]

Think Rob was determined to lose the 'Captain Slow' label, spins and flames all over the place [:P] Nice one.

It looked like you're running standard brakes Dan?

I think you'd find a huge difference if you upgraded those!

Second those comment about Ben Elliot Racing, I thought Katie, Ben, Rob & Sarah who I met Friday we're all great people. Ben was in hysterics when I span with him in the car!

Hey - I've been diddled!!!!!!!!! [:D]

Thanks to my eagle-eyed brother, it's been noted that Cluck missed out a cone on all but his first run.  Check out the vids here

It was the last cone on the slalom before the hairpin - he only just makes it on the first run and completely igores it on all the others [:P], clearly taking a short-cut and gaining an automatic time-penalty........

Now, where's my ******* Merlot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [:P]

oh what a shame it is to see such a poor loser looking to everything to try and make himself a winner.

'tis a sad sight to see [:P]

In my defence, I did try and make it for the first run, but barely got there and I simply assumed it wasn't part of the slalom and was just a marker for the "edge of the road". No, honestly, that's how I saw it at the time. I'll buy you a pint on Friday night Jon, how does that sound? [:D]

Now write out a hundred times

"I must not be such a sore loser" [:P]

(I may, or may not, be adopting a slightly sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek attitude in this reply!)

Sounds of "Cheat, Cheat, Cheat" echo round the forum...................[:D]

ah, you'll be another of the "also rans" then [:P].

I would pass the bottle on to Jon (I genuinely would), but I've already drunk it [:P]. Quite nice it was too [:D]

It's all good fun [:)]. Jon put in a blinding lap for his best time, so all credit to him for that. Just annoyed at myself for getting that final hairpin wrong every time.

I've thought about it some more, and I honestly don't remember doing that final cone on the practice run. I only did it on the first timed run because I suddenly saw the cone and thought "argghhhh, I'm never going to make it around that [:D]" (and you can hear me on the video as well, suddenly panicking [:D]). I just figured that it wasn't actually part of the course. 'snot a problem really. I still had the faster car [:P], just the organic material behind the wheel was lacking control over his right foot out of the loose stuff on the hairpins [:D]

I'm coming along on Friday evening, so I might bring a bottle and graciously hand it over to Jon then. Or I might just forget about the whole thing and bask in the glory of being victorious for a few days [:D]

Actually Dibs, thinking about it, I'll take that time penalty. Ooh, maybe a 1s penalty? Still beat you [:P]

You did seem to spend most of the day sideways[:P].  and after Rob had driven your car you looked very pale. [:D].

still fun and you sounded as if you needed a respirator after your laps too.

i shall be a witness to the blantent cheating. My statement is:

I remember having a converstion the so called cheat after his first run. In this conversation he mentioned then that he went round this cone on his first run and as he struggled to get round it he assumed it was not part of the course and was just a marker for the edge of the track.

So I say it is clearly a case of cheating and he owes Jon a bottle of wine.

And to be honest ifhe needs a cone to show him the edge of the track he has a problem. After all the track was made of tarmac then it turns into grass,1 is black the other is green!!!!!!!

(before you read my response to the so called "witness" above [:D], please understand one thing - I'm not taking this seriously at all and I have typed all these responses with a big grin on my face [:D])

Ian - you've just backed up what I said about it being a misunderstanding. As I said, and you (allegedly) witnessed, I didn't think it was part of the course, and so didn't drive around it for any of my remaining laps. You have to understand that I am used to doing track days where marker cones are put out to give drivers an idea of where to aim for - braking, turn-in, apex etc - so a cone that far over to the left just struck me (after the first run) as too far over to be part of the course. So, you have acted as a witness FOR the defence, not against it [:D] . Cheers pal. I'll buy you a beer when I see you [:)]

Anyhoo, I still had a right laugh.

Tom - I was panting at the end, because it was hard work keeping the car even remotely straight. I was wheel-spinning and shimmying (the car was sliding left and right) through 2nd, 3rd and 4th down the back straight [:P]. As it was the first day I've ever had the car sideways (properly sideways I mean, not like that first time Tom, before you start up again [:P]), it wasn't something I'm used to dealing with. I thought I coped rather well considering [:D]

When's the next one? [:D]

Yeah just re-read that and seems i`ve defended you[:$]. Was just about to edit it but you beat me to it.

A big [Y] to you. Just wished i`d got round to going out with you once. Looks like it was fun.

Shame i`m gong to miss friday night as i can see that  this might run and run.

A big [Y] to you. Just wished i`d round to going out with you once. Looks like it was fun. - Was a right laugh mid-afternoon when I seemed to have got the hang of it. It was just a nightmare on the really loose stuff at each hairpin - that and my uncontrollable heavy right foot [:P]

Shame i`m gong to miss friday night as i can see that this might run and run - It will only run and run whilst Jon (and all his cronies he's paid to support him on this tired campaign) continue to flog a dead horse. He was beaten and he can't admit it to himself, let alone everybody else [:P][:D]

I'm just uploading his video clips, and photos, to my site and I'll post links in the other thread once their on-line [:)]

Shame you're not around Friday [:(] . I wanted to buy a pint for my defence team [:D]
