classic ecu chip

Genuine as in an official Subaru Part? Then no.

It looks like a genuine chip from the company called scooby sport though.

I think most people on here would recommend getting an apexi power fc and having it mapped to match your car instead of fitting a piggyback chip that messes with the standard ECU. Every engine and mod combination is different, so get a map that suits rather than a one size fits all chip that might be fantastic but might also blow your engine to bits.

Probably only some close up pics to an expert would be able to say.  Useful chip I believe for a classic - some of the techy folks like DRB5, Coulty, Squirrel etc should be able to give you pointers.

Looks like a chip that contains a generic map for an early classic

Personally i would go for the Scott Taylor chip called the Scoobyecu, as these have a proven track record in the early cars

I feel slightly dubious when that Ebay ad claims increases of 50 bhp even with the std downpipe

My opinion would be avoid this one and look for a genuine Scoobyecu, made by Scott Taylor, ScottT on Scabbynet

As has been said, get a few more quid together and go the apexi way. I tried one of these chips and it did perk the car up a little it also flipped it into safe mode sometimes .

Im not saying this will happen to you but if you are to spend £200+ for this you will really have to follow it up with a RR check and a boost gauge and maybe even an afr gauge plus a knocklink.

Time this is added up your not too far shy ( £200 - £300 ish ?) from apexi and andy f cash.

After trying one of these i went far an apexi and just wish i had done sooner.

 Happy hunting

Willie.
