colin_ross Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 I'm done when it comes to rushing things Jon, gonna take my time and do it right this time. Be ready by the start of the season.[]
drb5 Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Lookin good Colin. What made you dive in and get it this quick? Mark supply it did he?
colin_ross Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 Yes Dave, got it from Mark. Thought I better do it now before I lost my bottle or the missus changed her mind. BTW, HUGE thanks for last night. Big help.
AlanG Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Start a project thread so's we can all join in. ;-)
colin_ross Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 Not a bad idea. Only downside is you'd all see just how messy my garage is. [:$]

BTW, HUGE thanks for last night. Big help. Lol, no worries. Projects thread is a good idea, but it'll go the same way as SNET.... "Today, i'm trying to fill my car up with petrol, in the hope of not spilling any and getting the absolute maximum per pence from the nozzle. I'm led to believe that by either tipping it right up, or shaking it about i gain the most, but i intend on finding the definative way. Any comment or thoughts greatly appreciated."
AlanG Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 You'll only know if it will work if you try it.
colin_ross Posted February 7, 2007 Author Posted February 7, 2007 Progress!!!! Here's how she stands And here is the main attraction, 2.33 litres of fully forged goodness. Dosen't look like much but that's the way I like it. Soon to be fitted with this bad boy Seems a shame to hide it away down there. Anyway, next few weeks will consist of stripping and cleaning and then maybe think about putting it all back together, the hit list goes....... Fit new turbo, headers, upipe, downpipe Helicoil turbo oil feed on head Remove entire fuel system and replace with -6 setup Raise inlet manifold Remove and reseal sump Remove all vta breather hose and replace with catch can Fit new clutch and flywheel Replace steering rack with ultra quick rack Replace alternator, crank and power steering pulleys with lightweight underdrive numbers Fabricate new intercooler pipework to accomodate relocated turbo Relocate avcr solenoid next to external wastegate Then there is a bunch of other stuff thats got nothing to do with the engine like fit the 6 pots and whiteline goodies. Should all be done by this time next year at this rate.
drb5 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Lookin good as per Colin, but you went on about how you wanted it finished THIS year?
st3ph3n Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 mmmm, nice. External wastegate too you say? I must book myself in for a passenger run at Crail if possible.
fai17 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Best wishes when putting it together and stay with Samco for your hoses...
sandy_gray Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 That will be some machine when its done!! That turbo is massive![]
colin_ross Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Quote mmmm, nice. External wastegate too you say? I must book myself in for a passenger run at Crail if possible. No problem Stephen, hope you've got a supply of brave pills for the both of us though. Peter - as you know mate, nothing but the best for my baby.

st3ph3n Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Peter can lend me some of his brave pills for Crail. He holds the record for calmest passenger I've ever had in my car - he wanted to have a conversation with me the whole way round the track at Knockhill and held and entire Phone Call with Bill Greer whilst I was going down the track at Crail. Is this the first time the car will have had an external wastegate then?
colin_ross Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 Yes Stephen, my last 3 turbo's have all been internally gated. This is a venture into the unknown for me.
colin_ross Posted March 23, 2007 Author Posted March 23, 2007 Well it's really starting to get there now. Family ties and problems at Playsatan Central (johns jokes and Coulty in general) have held us back a little but it's starting to gain momentum now. Rear crank seal replaced and exedy twin goes on. Flywheel is a hefty 5kg so will have to take it easy off the line now. Yeah right. The new fuel system starts to take shape. Bling bling. The ultra quick rack is fitted. It should really be in a newage spec c so some persuasion was required The more I look at this turbo the smaller it seems. Maybe just sell it now and buy a really big one rather than going through the montions of running it for 6 months as per usual. As always big thanks go out to Satan's little helpers. Next week, it goes in the car []
micra_wrc Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 hope you put it back together ok and that its ready for our next run in June
fai17 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Looking braw m8 and if you are selling the turbo/block give me a shout.[] My project is starting later on the year once i finalise what to get.
scoobaroo Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Patience is a virtue which you seem to have in abundance m8. Hope everything goes to plan with the engine fit. With a bit of luck youll be turning the key very shortly, then the fun really begins !!! Marty.
colin_ross Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 Cheers guys, Imy - will defo be ready for June. Looking for someone to lead the slow group? Peter - don't think it's be big enough for you. The Chinese 700 demands only the very best. Marty - patience doesn't come into it mate. I'd love it to be ready the day before tomorrow but it takes as long as it takes. PPP2 was a rush job (don't ask) and working on your car till 4 in the morning 3 days on the trot is not something I want to experince again. End of April is the target but if it gets pushed out a bit, so be it.
