cullenmin Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Dark Blue Omega, Dark Blue Omega...Note to self, 'If a Dark Blue Omega is up yer hoop, its not after a race!'[^o)] Rich
thefastone Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Ooooh sound like they got a new one at last, used to be the 2 cars you watched out for the dark blue omega and the Maroon omega, both the same age, but older than that one you saw.... the plot thickens... []
Deamon555 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Used to be the Blue Audi RS4 kicking around but aint seen that for a year or so now.. Whoever was driving it was often spotted driving way too fast for the conditions RS4 or not, nearly ran over a cyclist in front of me one day in the rain! [:@] BTW - What happened to that lightly marked Forester that the local force had for a while? Never did see it myself..
scooby222 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 at least theyre consistent, i always take it easy round dark vauxhalls and volvos- after all who would buy an omega from choice! hopefully youl keep them occupied over there anyway, leave the inverness roads clear for us respectable drivers [] howre you getting on Dale, was just thinking youve been suspisciously quiet
westtra Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 there is a light blue volvo s40 on the go aswell.
scooby doom Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Just keeping you lot on your toes as opposed to on your lead feet []
westtra Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Is it a traffic cop thats you job scooby doom or are you just normal policeman? If its traffic you've probably pulled me over once or twice in my previous cars.
scooby doom Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Traffic? No, I've not been on the course to have me conscience surgically removed yet.
stripe Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Traffic? No, I've not been on the course to have me conscience surgically removed yet. lol good man! Even us ordinary beat coppers don't like the traffic!
RA Dunk Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 so just how does it work then? is going into traffic like a promotion or is it just for slack cun*s who canna be bothered walking the beat anymore?
stripe Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 It's basically just going into another department, there are literally hundreds of different jobs in the Police, that's just one of them. You need to apply for a move there, go through interviews etc. There are different areas within the traffic too, i.e crash investigation, stolen car squad stuff like that. Quite a varied department really
scooby doom Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 It's just a career choice. Traffic is a department like CID, Dog Section and several others. They are a sideways move and not promotion. There are so many things that a beat cop has to deal with that it would be impossible to dedicate time to complex and prolonged enquiries, or to specialise in a particular area. For example someone steals your cheque book and writes cheques all over the country, you need the time to sort all that out and that can't be done if you're continually bothered by people phoning in to tell you, there are sheep on the road, someone's looking at them in a funny way, someone's parked in their space outside their house, I've found a dog what should I do with it, there are kids playing football in the park but I can see and hear them, my neighbours tax disc has expired, etc, etc, etc.....! Being in a dept means you have time to devote to particular crimes, incidents or strategies without having to be at the beckon call of the public's 'lesser' demands. Anyone wishing to do these jobs has to apply and go through an internal selection process. These posts are generally tenured to prevent people being there for the rest of their days - this also gives others a chance as few opportunities would appear otherwise. There are many in the job who have no interest in traffic matters and would do away with the Traffic Dept and have it merged back into beat work. That said most of them are in the CID. But to put things into perspective you can have a cop with 4 years in the job with all that experience [] in one of these dept's and others with 20+ years just keeping the wheels turning on the beat. As far as the work goes, Traffic cops routinely assist beat cops and vice versa - we're all (supposed to be) on the same team. I know there are some areas where being in a dept can been seen as elitist but this is usually only by those in it. I've come across some in dept's that don't even talk to the rest of us but being a bit longer in the tooth now I have ways of dealing with this minority. Bottom line is we, like so many others are driven by stats and are so busy we have little time for nonsense and less time to put up with belligerent t**ts. Just cos you don't agree with a law doesn't mean you're right. Just remember some of the traffic feds read these forums - how do you think they know where the meets are?
RA Dunk Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 i did hear they check these forums from time to time, i dont really have much of a problem with the traffic guys TBH there just doing there job i suppose and there are lots of numpties in high powered cars up here just look at the ammount of road deaths grampian have had this year the last time i sat in the back of a unmarked traffic car the guys were actually pretty good and up for a laugh (fekerz still charged me though lol) it`s the amount of unneeded scameras that get on my t!t`s, fair enough outside schools etc but every couple of miles on a motorway with a scameravan inbetween is a wee bit excessive
bigal024 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 Pete/Stripe, Please dont take this as a dig at Coppers doing their duty. Just trying to keep Grampian's finest in the traffic division on their toes! ;-) Al

Just trying to keep Grampian's finest in the traffic division on their toes! ;-) Al No offence taken at all matey, like a say the attitude shown to Police on this site is very good, sure no one likes a ticket, and there is nothing worse than a little hitler traffic cop, but we aint all like that!
bigal024 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 The amount of fatal accidents in the North East really is quite distressing. Majority of them are young lads and lasses too.
