Big 'D' Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Hi all After hours scouring the web for a new venue for our meet I may have found one suitable The meet will start earlier as to guarentee parking etc, I am suggesting 11am on the Sunday of the 17th Dec. Click the link for more info and directions http://www.pub-explorer.com/oxon/pub/bystanderwootton.htm Cheers Iain
shescooby Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Iain As said in my previous post for the Karting Dave is working....... however I will do my best to come down, Dave will try and sort shifts out but cant promise anything Good Pub btw and its a hungry horse :-) Kaz
xdeadboltx Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 count me and shirley in ;-). and yes i will be joining the club on friday when i get paid
Big 'D' Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 Nice one guys!!!! See you all there. And a few others I hope Cheers Iain
Racing Snake Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I'll be there no parties that weekend!
scobymad Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 had my car broken into in that carpark along with 3 others at the same time its a bit of a hotspot for that sort of thing just though i would warn you all
Big 'D' Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 Due to the fact that this seems to be a bit of a crime hot spot and I dont want members cars broken into, I have found another Hungry Horse for us to meet at. The new meet has a link on the origional thread!!!!!! Cheers for the heads up Scobymad!! Iain
waijohn_wong Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 More further away this one! How about some place closer? http://www.pub-explorer.com/oxon/pub/acornbicester.htm [][][]
Big 'D' Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 It would be unfair to have all our meets in north Oxon but I will have a look
Big 'D' Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 Would you believe it there is one in Bicester http://www.pub-explorer.com/oxon/pub/acornbicester.htm if you would prefer that one, I cant please everyone, but I can have a damn good try. Cheers Iain ps a little feedback as to whereabouts in Oxon you would like the meet to be held would be good. Cheers Iain
waijohn_wong Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The acron is close for me, Karl and Karen. And is part of the Hungry Horse group.
wimpy Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 [:|]Just so you know we came past there on sunday on the way to the meet at 12:45 ish and the pub carpark was packed as it is on the aproach road to the shopping village. Just thourt you should know.
Racing Snake Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I agree with Iain that this is probably not a good location at Christmas as the the traffic can be a nightmare with all the shoppers in Bicester Village. The car park is also very small.
bockett Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 As above can be a mare parking. If its a hunugry horse your after go here http://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/ and search within oxford. Been to the tandem in kennington no complaints there great service but car park potential problem if busy, awful service at hungry horse one on way into wallingford When i had the focus we used to use the pub the turnpike IIRC just off a roundabout the oxford end on the A44 to woodstock you'll know it. i'd go for turnpike. not too far away either just off A34. depends where majority are based. Other suggestion hows bout sturdy's castle just past kidlington on old road to banbury. Great spuds @ £4 each so wont brake the bank with xmas round the corner and big car park???? (ps recommened chicken curry spud, lol) Will try make this being my first meet to Ben
shescooby Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Dont mind which one I go to obviously apart from the one where its a HOTSPOT for Crime.... However as Wimpy and Karl mentioned The Accorn does tend to get very busy as its the only decent pub in Bicester........ lol I suggest if we do go to Accorn we get there early.....so we can have a chance to park!! Kaz
Big 'D' Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 I dont mind where we have it!!! So long as most of you are happy to get there I will post a definite meet venue this week ( I want to go to a few of the pubs myself and scope them out) Cheers Iain
shescooby Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Hmmmm drove pass the Crooked Billet on the A41 (coming back from the Cinema (SAW 111) not sure about food, been told its a carvery and they have ample of Parking........ just a suggestion [] Kaz
TINO.wrx Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 nice pub(well it was a few years ago), just not very good for tall people !!!!! steve
joe will Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 there is a hungry horse in wallingford that is not far from oxford and not for from bucks to! thoughts ?
william_davies Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 What about the pubs just outside kidlington? There is sturdy's castle? I have been there for a couple of ford meets with me bro, no problems there and good food. There is one a bit closer to kidlington but cant remember the name. There is also a pub in gosford which i have heard is good for food, but cant remember the name[:|]
Racing Snake Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Have we got a confirmed venue yet? Iain will the polo shirts be ready in time for Dec meet? Karl
Big 'D' Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 Hi guys!!! I am going to play a wild card and say we will meet at the Sturdy Castle 11am on Sunday the 17th December. See link below for info and directions http://www.sturdyscastle.com/Map.html I have ordered a massive batch of polos they should be in for embroidery within the next 5 days so its possible they will be ready for the next Oxon meet For those that have not seen them yet they look sweet!!!!! Cheers Iain
