Central Car thefts - watch out.

From the BBC website...

Police are investigating the thefts of several high-value cars in the Falkirk area over the past week.

Expensive vehicles including a BMW, an Audi and Subaru were stolen from Bonnybridge and Dennyloanhead.

In every case, the owners' homes were broken into and the car keys stolen, Central Scotland Police said.

Officers have now warned the public to ensure that they

do not fall victim to opportunist thieves by leaving car keys in

obvious places.

Was just a matter of time until this sort of stuff moved north of the border.... and became more common. [:D]

Be careful, but if someone does come into your house demanding keys, just hand them over.... No point risking anything more valuable.

Its been going on for a couple of years up here now, the get a beach caster fishing rod, put a big washing machine magnet on the end and have a look through your letterbox for a table or the hook where you hang your keys.

Then its through the letterbox, magnet picks up the keys, or a hook made from wire bent into shape and they are off, They may leave it a couple of days until you think you have lost your keys and are using your spare set.

Someone on here had a car pinched a couple of years ago, I was talking to someone who had experience of this sort of thing and thats how he explained how it happens.

Aye...I've been in this situation....thats how my BMW 3 Series company car was nicked in April from the front door of the house......keys taken through the letterbox....of it went to be found bollo**ed in Glasgow about 5 weeks ago....

best thing to get round this is use the back door of the house then no letterbox to try and fish through!!!

The problem with that is whats been happening in England... If there is no easy way to nick the keys, then they are forced to break into your house... If they cant find your keys, they will come and get you at whatever time it is, point a gun/knife in your face and demand that you give them the keys.

Even read a year or so ago, guy opened his front door at 10am on Christmas Day to have a gun pointed at his face.. all for his and his wife's car.

Jodie - Do you live on S.H. Summat'or'other on a corner? (not gonna be more specific on line)  Just was at my m8s on Saturday and saw a Scooby in that area parked up on the drive and wondered if it was anyone on here.

I keep the car key in the bedroom, guy in work had his TT stole the other week like this.

My Friend is CTR owner and he told me its so bad in Liverpool that they just break in and threaten you. One person heard them kicking in the door and called the police. They came up and beat him and his wife and took the car. It was another 20 mins before the police came!! Aparently!

I have a weights bench at the top of my stairs, so if they try that with me then they had better expect some heavy weights, bars and bench to be coming there way!

No, this was a blue one.

Will keep an eye out for ya next time tho (assuming I still have my car and aint been robbed - I park on street and live in a stair with 7 other flats which is both a good thing and a bad thing I guess)

Colleague of mine had his brand new Audi Q7 nicked the other morning along with his wife's car. Lives Eaglesham way. There's a 14 month waiting list for this car so looks like it's been stolen to order. Not sure if he'd been followed home previously or if it's inside info. Happened about 5am while he was in the shower getting ready to go to work. Jemmied the front door. In and out in a few mins as he had his keys, laptop (which they took too) and wallet all sitting by the front door ready to leave. Police have said forget it, there's no way he'll see it again. Probably in a container en route abroad by now.

im keeping mine under my pillow

I'm leaving mine on the coffee table in the living room. Not where they can get at them through the letter box, but I'd rather they came in took the keys and car than bust into my bedroom scaring the s*** out of me and kicking lumps out of me till I told them where the keys were. As much as I love my Scoob, it's only a car.

Having worked more years than I like to count now with the pro car thieves in prison, this aint there style, seems more neddish way to steal.

Having been told by some there methods a dont see why they would need to threaten or attack anyone they like to be secretive about it and hone there skills to be fast, in and away, the only plus point is the new key fobs being linked in with the electronics so saving them a bit of time. But the pro's would not have issues with any of the gadgetry even your nice tracker only adds some seconds, how many places can you think of hiding a tracker in your car.

So it looks like I will be having a new breed of jacker for company in the near future.

On another note, if you do attack an intruder you must only use at a means of defense or attempt to get away on your part, anything else would be seen as excess of force and may see you in the court charged with assualt or worse. Its a funny old world and even funnier rights for criminals.

They can even get monies for not getting drug care in prison. The law can be a total ass, I wonder which part of prison made them start taking the drugs while in the community. The prison service is accountable to maintain there habit (methadone) while they stay there, Barlinnie for example in second highest issuer of this drug in Europe, only the whole of Sweden is greater. See there is a reason why Abba/Volvo/Saab was inflicted on us.

We cant have these poor souls (prisoners) going cold turkey heavens above, they may stop taking drugs, no we maintain it and in Englands case pay them for not maintaining it while being detained at Her Majesty pleasure. A nice wee earner paid for by the tax payer. What next people awaiting deportation getting legal aid, sorry we already do that.

Still blame Flower Power Children who now fill the roles in our society for all these daft laws and rights we see now infiltrating our society. There still tripping and we are part of there dilusional state.

Wheres that acid tab!!!!

This is true. My friend woke to find someone trying his door. He opened it and chased the guy, but lost him in a park. Returned to the house and called the police. While they were in his living room taking a statement the guy walked straight in. Mate lost it, and just went after him(he is a ex thai boxer and Mr Europe Bodybuilder) He punched him once, putting him through a door and fractured his eye socket. Next thing he knew he was being pulled off the guy and handcuffed!

He was charged with ABH!

The guy was a drug addict and the house used to be his parents. Once he came round and was off the drugs he dropped the charges.

Cant even defend yourself in your own home these days! Crazy!!
