Advice from those with suspension/chassis mods

Decided to give my MY03 STi a dose of handling mods over the next couple of months and looking for some comments from those that have done some Whiteline/AST/a.n.other mods to their car. Planning on a fair few track days next year so daily driving comfort not too much of a concern.

Already has Prodrive springs on which have firmed up the ride a fair bit. Looking to find out if anyone has done their mods in stages - i.e. had the rear d'links done, then ARB's then ALK etc.

Had a good price from Dunc at Hyptertech for the front/rear alloy d'links, 22m rear ARB and the ALK. Anyone gone for the front ARB as well? Anyone got 24mm ARB's???

Cheers in advance,

Neil

First AST is mega money[:D]but worth it you can afford it.

There are lots of good report on all Whiteline and Tein gear...

Only guys i know are Des,Scoobaru and Cyp_rock with all the mentioned Whiteline goodies.

I'm on the look out for some Whiteline stuff too and Greersport has quoted me a really good price.

Powerstation use AST for the shocks and whiteline for the rest of the stuff.

I've got the droplinks done on mine and I couldn't believe the difference that and decent geometery made. I will do the ALK and the ARBs next year.

The Whiteline stuff is good. Whiteline-UK is based in Dunfermline and they are very helpful.

The ASTs are fine for roundabout racing and might be ok on track but I found them hopeless on our lumpy roads - and not because they were too stiff. Don't believe all the hype on S'net.

Fitted 22mm front and back ARB, the ALK and drop links to rear, already had prodrive springs. The front drop links were still good to go, maybe will get sockets out and change that sometime in near future. I would suggest reading Whitleine web pages for what they think on there bits and pieces.

I got them done at last Geometry check at Progrip with existing Prodrive settings, these on there own make a difference and can quote from my experience of it. Bought all Whiteline parts via discount at Demon Tweeks all delivered within two days.

As for ride its a lot flatter going in and out of corners, I have still my old Toyos on all four 18" wheels and would expect even better grip from my Goodyear Eagles. As I done the lot in one go so to speak a could not say what mod was best, as a package it certainly stopped understeer and improved handling qualities. Though cheapest mod was the Prodrive geometry £50ish.

I was in Jools car with his new AST setup on KH and all i can it was truely AWESOME and it was not that harsh or hard.

Must be why he was going sideways all the time, lol.

H[H]i neil a we bit of info for your suspension ,  first mod  rear  a.r.bar  blade type adjustable 22mm not 24 mm/ 24 is to  harsh for road use /alloy drop links req no2 mod /anti lift kit /comfort type gives a little complience ,less harsh on the road but delivers on the track/ no 3 mod  steering rack bushes tightens up road feel -feed back, the new age suffers from wooly feel steering-lack of sending info to your s/wheel no4 front anti roll bar again blade type and alloy drop links i can give you info on settings for road as well as track  easly adjustable in mins no 5 rear subframe lock bolts -can be fitted quickly before track days and removed before going back on the road rember fitting uprated suspension parts increases n.v.h-noise vibration harshness. Whitline parts are manufactured to stringent design limits and are top quality after market units that do exactly what it says on the tin I use the parts on both my cars - classic track car and my WRX300 05 plate  I also supply WHITELINE as you have probly seen on the forum and i dont make any profit out it all discount is given to SIDC members REGARDS GEO  PS it will work with prodrive springs
