Scoobyiain's Other Half Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I know what i'm buying him this xmas then.
z1000 Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 dont really bother doing it weekly myself , only when im leaving town or going someplace and its a bit of a drive to get there, think halfords sell them tyre pressure checker thingy doofers, one of them would be handy, maybe look into getting one of them myself after this Got 1 for £2.99 from aldis a while back and its pretty accurate and not to big so lives in the door pocket.
Alan-G Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Quote That should help. Superb St3ph3n. Thanks a lot for that, actually Imy, I saw you smiling at wee Hollie on the pit wall as we watched the cars, next time I'll introduce us all. Peter, Sorry for the mix up but you were the smiley chappie after (I take it to be Jools the Hooligan) were driven around the track sometimes in reverse, am I correct there ?
Fee Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 That's me just home.... Was at Dastek straight after knockhill....I can finally feel my feet again! Good day though Skyline was sliding all over the place (and yes I know probably down to my crap tyres! but it was either them or slicks!) Made 283BHP on the rollers...a bit lower than expected...but they said the rear brakes were sticking ....that's explain the shaking under breaking at knockhill!
Alan-G Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Scoobyiain's other half's quote :- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not wanting to start an argument on here but surely somwhere down the road he realised he was not behind him anymore? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That's a fair comment. But, the weather conditions (well driving up from Airdrie were dreadfull anyway's) could have made the driver in front, not really visible to the car in the mirror and so made progress hoping to catch a glimpse further up the road, but was it a strict convoy? If just two mates going to Knockers for a blast, then possibly a fuel stop could be considered as the parting of the convoy also. I am really new here and don't like intervening in a way that sounds rude, but there could be many factors that could have accounted for the driver in front not to stop. 1. He didn't see the accident in his mirror. 2. He possibly couldn't see the car behind due to spray. 3. He has realised the car is no longer in his mirrors (when the rain cleared) but how would he think the worst. Many factors. As I am now aware, Scooby drivers stick together like glue and help each other to there utmost when the chips are down. I cannot see a Scooby, leaving a crashed Scooby at all.
RA Dunk Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 last time i went down to knockers there were times i was three or four cars behind the rest of the pack, quite easy to do im afraid, but hey as long as Ian`s ok and the cars sortable thats the main thing []
kloon Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Quote last time i went down to knockers there were times i was three or four cars behind the rest of the pack, quite easy to do im afraid, but hey as long as Ian`s ok and the cars sortable thats the main thing [] Aye but that's because you was too busy rolling them funny fags while you was driving min []
Andy N Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Sorry to hear about the accident and glad nobody was hurt, but i also know Steve and know that there is no way in hell he would have known about the bump and continued on his journey. This kind of thing has happened before with an SIDC members P1 getting written off while on a run and some of us not knowing about it until later. I'am sure Steve would have been gutted once finding out the bad news. The main thing is that nobody was hurt and cars can be fixed
RA Dunk Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 i dont smoke teh funny fags due to them unfunny tests we get subjected too offshore, what you saw me rolling was "LOW BUDGET" fags the type only poor people (or cheap cnuts like me) like to smoke lol []
scoobyiain Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Hi everyone, just woke up from a long sleep as i felt drained after all that happened this morning. Alison and myself are not wanting any arguments on here and not blaming anyone. My car and pride both took a beating today but atleast i'm still here to tell the tale thats the most important thing. Also glad nobody else was injured. I'm not a mechanic so cant say what damage lies under all the bumps and scrapes but it looks like 3.5 to 4k worth of damages. Gutted as i have only had the car 3 weeks and was looking forward to meeting everyone today in my scoob. Peter, was planning on giving you the money for raffle tickets today but will just send you a cheque.
craig mac Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 Iain Like i said earlier cars can be replaced, Take it easy for a day or two. As long as your ok your pride will fix too bud []
scoobyiain Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Thanx craig, going to be nervous driving again i think. Never been in a crash before and it has really scared me. Off work tomorrow then see how i feel for monday nightshift.
RA Dunk Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 glad yer feeling ok Ian although a bit shaken but that will wear off after a day or two, hope yer car isnt too bad to sort either []
scoobyiain Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Thanx bud, insurance surveyor going to look at it on monday then taking it from there. I get a courtesy car thru my insurance so it will prob be fiesta driving for the next month or so []
Fab 1 Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Baltic as usual at knockhill but had a great day! Shame about the Lotus crash though! Hope they were all ok! Managed to spot a few of you in the SIDC gear, but didn't manage to say Hi, sorry guy's! However I was the one with the daughter dressed in pink at the wall looking over at the cars' racing. Hollie being very clever today learned a few new words, (she's only 16months) as I said to her what does the 'scoobie' say.....she replied......'vroom vroom' so yes for those of you standing beside us and having a hoot Hollie is our daughter being Alan-G and I, and yes she was loving the cars on the track and continually screamming VROOM VROOM!!! She LOVED her day at knockhill! I'm sure she'll be a rally driver when she gets older. Jen
Mako Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Ian, been there mate. The nervousness will pass, best thing to do is get back in a car bud. Like has been said already, cars can be replaced. Glad your OK[Y] As for Knockhill today.....FREEZING!!! but Jools kept us all entertained with a fantastic show off car control[Y] Squirrel, hope your wee leggies were ok. Paper Troosers...no good for Knocky[] Good to see everyone again, had some serious withdrawls with not being on track[] PaulC555, you kept me going this afternoon while decorating the lads room. I couldn't stop laughing at the images I was getting in ma head.[] Ladies undergarments will never hold the same appeal for me again. See ya's on Wednesday Russ
craig mac Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 PS Iain / Alison One thing i would like to add, Is i know Steve, and there is no way on this earth he would not have stopped if he saw you in his rear view going Gung Ho m8, No way he would do that. In fact i doubt anyone on this here forum would
jcscoob Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Iain so sorry to hear about your car mate, try and not let it get you down, things do get better with time. I know Steve would have stopped if he had knew wot had happend. Good luck with the car [] Sissqurillvision sis, sisquirllvision [~], looking forward to your next production of wot sounds like an action packed day by all ! []
scoobyiain Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 I think if i ever decide to join a convoy to any event in the future i will make sure at least one person has my mobile phone number and i have someone elses incase something like this was to ever happen like this again ( let's hope it doesn't) so i could let the person know what has happened. Not got any bad feelings towards steve so please don't think i do.
Guest AlanK Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 mmm - those old PMRs I have may come in handy at some point afterall.... AK
JohnSt Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Iain, your partner does not appear to share your sentiments []
RS Grant Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Really sorry to hear about your problem Iain, when we drove past the Traffic Police were already there... We'd been waiting at the BP garage for you too!! Dont worry about driving the car again, when you get it back, just take it slowly and step it up gently until you feel confident again. [] Also hope that the Grey Elise driver is alright too, hate seeing that on the road. However, as far as the day went, I had a brilliant time...... my car impressed me out there, seemed to hold its own against the rest of the field!! Destroyed my brakes out there, have to get myself some uprated stuff for the next time. I was in the Grey Celica GT4, any pics/vids would be welcomed. [H] Cheers, Grant
andy Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Quote Iain, your partner does not appear to share your sentiments [] As I speak on the outside of this, I can totally understand Iain's partner's frustation, concern and initial anger. Heat of the moment and all that. She must have had a helluva scare so I can understand the reaction. I think we'd all be the same in that situation. I don't know Steve, but from what I've read on these forums he comes across as a decent bloke and not the sort who would knowingly leave a mate behind if he knew something had happened. It's easy for us to sit at home, be judgmental and make comment on others, but unless you were there you can't possibly know. Iain (who I don't know either) is, thankfully, fine although understandably a bit shaken. The car is a bit fecked, but can hopefully be fixed. Personally, given the replies to this topics and the number of close shaves experienced by Scottish Scooby drivers today I'm glad I sat on my a*se at home []
st3ph3n Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Grant, the celica goes nicely. I had you in my mirrors for a few laps and the gap was pretty constant until I had to ease over with the brakes suffering. Found out what one of the problems was this evening. Minor issue with the rear passenger side caliper. The issue? Ah yes. The pad doesn't appear to exist any more.
RS Grant Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Yea, it goes well apart from the Rollercoaster Boost/Power Curve... your car must be one of the Monday AM cars, it certainly makes good power for the standard-ish spec and it shows out on track!! [] My fronts are grinding like, err, something that grinds a lot... completely gubbed... Dont think I've ever continued smiling after discovering that I've destroyed a part of my car before?! [H] Cheers, Grant
