Drivers footwell clip/hook - what's it for ?

Hi there from a kind of newbie, with a question about what this is (below) in the drivers footwell of my recently purchased MY06 WRX STi

 

anyone got any ideas ?

My mats are held on by something similar .

Think it's meant to stop your mat from slipping about. Doesn't really work tho

That's exactly what its for. if you have the Subaru WRX mats, the driver's side mat has a little hole with a plastic eye on it that hooks in and holds it in place. Works good for me.

I use it to tie my foot too[]

With a piece of string just long enough to get full throttle, and too short to reach for the brake peddle []
